I didn't get anything done this pass weekend. I checked the forecast Friday and it was asking for 20-30cm of snow with high winds. I decided to get as much stuff, that was outside, into the garage for the storm. So how much can you fit into a 28x32 garage; try 4 cars, a snowmobile, snowmobile trailer, snowblower, lawnmower, desk, a wheelbarrow, and a pallet of firewood.
It snowed all day Saturday. Couldn't do anything in the garage - I didn't have room to move around - and it was too bad to go out.
We ended up with 73cm - over 2' of snow that was whipped around with hurrican force winds.
When Sunday came the snow was finally stopped. I decided I would go out and shovel the garage door out so I could get a couple cars out of the garage.
I think I'll call the snowplow!
Supposed to be like 70 degrees F here today!
But in a week or so, we'll be back to normal here.
Hard to believe what some wind'll do with an inch or so of snow...
70F...! j/k
We had 2 foot not 2 inches and winds topped out at 140km
dayum, LOL
yep, didn't see that was an ', and not a "
Usually about the only nasty we get here is ice and freezing rain, I'd much rather have a coupla feet of snow any day, instead of that....stuff.
But...in the summer, it's usually hot as the hinges of Hell here, and humid too.
(Now that I've used some "h" words...)
Gee, and to think we ended up with 1/4 of an inch from that same storm :D
better you than me... i can't take such a lifestyle with "feet" in any snow forecast. what am i talking about... i don't even like flurries.
Nice drifts.
It was -21 (-6F) with the windchill yesterday, and today it's going up to 1 (34F). Alterba is fubar'd. At least we're finally seeing some snow. We've usually had the amount of snowfall we've seen so far by mid November. The farmers aren't going to be happy this year. Expect another 'Hay-West' venture.
Here in Tucson, Arizona the lowest daytime Temp all "winter" has been 58 Degrees F. Hell, I think we've only had 11-12 below freezing nights. It's been in the low to mid 70's pretty much all winter long.
Of course, around these parts, we only have two seasons. Fall and Summer. The latter lasting a majority of the year. Once march rolls around, temps will spike into the ninties again.
Man thundergrowl do you have snow tires for your wheel chair? Most of us would hate to shovel that driveway and your doing it? Props man!
Thanks Claude!
Actually, I went and had a look, shoveled a little, and then said f-it and called the plow. :giggle: I shoveled about 4 ft in front of one of the garage doors and gave up. One time I would have tackled it but now I find that my shoulders hurt after shoveling - getting close to 40 yrs old and I can't do what I use to do. It's not worth it anymore to me. I'd rather give someone $20 to plow it for me.
i want to have at least one snow like that this year most we've had is bout 5inches then it was warm and most of it has melted
i know it sounds weird but thats what i like bout minnesota the wintertime
WTF I'm getting blasted right now. So far 5 inches... but it's completely white out!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hate it. it was warm all weakend and all day today. ive been running around in short sleeves and no jacket an all this time my snowmobile is crying to be ridden. this winter has sucked.
They kept saying we were supposed to get hit here all weekend. Didn't happen. Just brutally cold (and I work outside at night:yuck: )
Thundergrowl, I want your garage!
We got about 1/4 to 1/2 inch last night. My car was clean until this morning. They salted the out of the roads.
It's going to be in the 60's by thursday :wtf:
Really weird weather.
I'm certainly glad I have it this winter.
Last year, when it snowed, I would have to shovel across the patio(12'), down the ramp(20'), and up the ramp to the shed(20') to get to the snowblower. Then I would have to snowblow the driveway.
This year all I have to do is shovel about 5' form the garage door to the truck. I have a friend with a small rubbertire backhoe who clears my driveway.
Granted, if I ever wanted to get into the shed, I'd have a lot of shoveling to do.
Geez if it ever snowed that much here they would close the state until it melted.
Here we go again!
And I was planning a snowmobile ride tonight.
We got 20cm last night, and 5 more this morning. We got more snow in one day than we've had all winter, so far.
d00d, your garage is bigger than your house!
wow, that is ALOT of snow..
I just arrived at the cottage and was pleasantly surprised by 6" of fresh snow on the ground. Perfect amount: Good for snowmobiling, yet won't be on the ground until May :D And the best of it is that if I get sick of it I need only drive home, where there is not even an inch on the ground :p
I'm actually just about to head out on the snowmobile shortly. It'll be the third time this year I've been able to, thanks to this warm winter
The forecast was right on! We got 19cm last night with 2-4 to come this morning. It was nowhere near as bad as the last storm though.
It hit 93 yesterday in TX. Sucks that I had to work...
Well the temp is rising a bit in the bubble here in Ohio. Its sunny and 60 out right now. Getting ready to change the oil in the cougar wearing a t shirt.
That's OK! I was out in the garage last night washing off the snowmobile wearing a t-shirt
and a sweater and a jacket! :)
Must be one heck of a bubble :flip: !!! It's freezing up around these parts.
Yeah really its snowing here right now.
I just got back in from snowmobiling - it's a bit cold but otherwise beautiful snowmobiling weather. My parents are hoping the small amount of snow will stick around at least until Saturday - they haven't been out yet this year, and if they don't get out this weekend they likely won't get out at all
I'm getting ready right now to go " 'round-da-bay " to my fathers for a weekend of snowmobiling. I have the snowmobile on the trailer and all I have to do now is get the trailer licenced and pack my bags.
This is probably my last chance to go for a trip this year. I'll be back Monday evening...with pictures hopefully.

EDIT: dialup warning! :)
Whoaaa Nelly!! Too big a pic. I have dialup, but I'd love to see those pictures.
We had a light dusting of snow at about 6am yesterday but by 7am it was melted. Right now it is 40 out, and about an hour ago it was 30. Hopefully it gets warmer out, say to the tune of 60 again.
Here are the pictures in a smaller format.
The first is a SS of the trip according to my GPS: We left home at 9:00AM and got back at 6:00PM travelling 128.28 miles. We had a beautiful day, as you can see from the pictures.
The second is me coming down the trail going between two ponds.
The third is at the start of Home Pond - 7 mile to the other end.
Three more: 1, Cousin Boyd, Mark's new skidoo, and myself at one end of Home Pond. 2, Boyd and Mark. 3, Cabin on home pond with White Birch trees.
The first two are pictures of a couple brooks along the trail. The third is a picture of all six of us in front of the brook. Hmmm! I think the lens may have been fogged up in that one.
Looks like a good time was had by all. We had a good time this weekend too, but it looks like snowmobiling is finished for the year now - the 6" of snow that was on the ground is rapidly melting. Kinda ironic that my parents' first trip of the year will be their last :p
BTW: Home pond? 7 miles? 'Round here we call those things "lakes" :D
Everything here are called ponds except Gander Lake and Exploits River. As the old newfie joke goes...a lake is what you got in yer rubber boot when yer foot gets wet!
