have any differences besides the motor mount style-(ie Mustang)
than an '88 Bird k-member?
What I mean is, are they the same width, and use same width a-arms?
I found a Mark VII for sale, and it has a few parts that I can use...
I did a search here about them, couldn't find much...
ANd also, would the Mark's windshield work in an '87-'88 Bird?
Thanks
I'm going out on a limb...but everything *should* work. I know the windshields are identical. The K-member in a Mark VII should be the same as 1986-88 Thunderbirds/Cougars. I believe we all shared them. Last few times I found Marks in the boneyard to compare, the cars were gone from the windshield forward. :) If you can get a part number for a Mark VII engine crossmember I can cross-reference it for our cars and let you know for sure.
Sounds like a plan.
I can buy this Mark for very little or maybe even get it free, I'm owed some parts from the owner of it.
Figured I'd take the glass from it to replace mine, and maybe the suspension for the 5 lug stuff. Neat thing is, someone already converted it to spring suspension...:D
Gonna call him later, and see about it...
Thanks a bunch
ps...I think that it's an LSC
cool stuff, let us know.
Actually Eric, as fordtruckfreeek said, the Mark shares the same motor mount pads as a mustang.
Maybe someone one here with a mark could measure the distance between the controll arm mounting points. If thats the same then we have the perfect K member for our cars.
That's what I had in mind! ;)
I may have to run down to my bud's house after while, and measure that Mark there....and compare to my 'Bird.
I'm guessing that the control arms should be the longer style like the 87 88 cars. For ride quality and such. Double check that the controll arm attaching points are the same as well. I bet they are.
just remember if you use the linc arms you have to use the linc spindles or change to a mustang/tbird ball joint. the linc piece is a bigger diameter.
The control arms mounts are different. Might also be a heavier part, it is bigger than the Mustang K-member. Don't know if Tbird/Cougar arms will work or not, be it 83-86 or 87-88.
Unless you want to convert to air suspension, there's no need to get the Mark's front suspension stuff.

The reason I was thinking about using the mk7 k-member, was for the 'Stang type motor mounts, the rest of the susp. pieces woulda been Tbird, IF they could/would fit.
The real interest to me is the Kmember itself, I've been trying to get ahold of the guy, but so far, he hasn't answered, and I ain't leaving him 300 voicemails, lol.
When I get a chance, I'll take the arms from the maroon '88, and take em to the mk7 and compare the fit...
The controll arms on the LSC are setup for airbags and do NOT have a pocket for the spring to set in...
