my #8 fuse keeps blowing, and i cant figure out why...:shoothead
it's a 15 amp fuse connected to the clock, key warning, illuminated entry, keyless entry, power door lock relays, power outside mirrors, curtesy lamps, cluster memory, and chime

dissconnected the clock and it still popped,
with one door open and the button pushed in (so the illuminated entry dosnt kick on?) and it still popped,
as for the keyless entry, i dont have it, door locks and mirrors were not in use and it popped?
im stumped:dunno: the only thing i can think of now is list the seperate systems by order in ease of access and check them all out by hand indevidualy untill i find a screw through a hot wire, or a open wire brushing against the chassis...
also i should mension that iv removing and reinstalling the cluster and clock so i guess i'd start their. maybe i pinched something? i just hope i find it without haveing to remove the dash:yuck:
any suggestions would be appreciated :D
theres got a be a short casueing it to surge doers is pop as soon as u do something or just as soon as u turn the key on or what. i think u may have def pinched something but thats just my idea
I turn wrench's for a living on expensive euro trash and have two rule's of thumb.
1) KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Basicly dont over think everything.
2) If it worked before you ****ed with it you screwed something up.
If you didnt have the problem before taking the cluster out I would assume that something got screwed up in that area.

well, you had the entire interior stripped....id bet you pinched something. that realy sucks....i absolutely hate electrical gremlins.....
I'd guess you pinched the cluster harness...
throw a 30 amp fuse in there, cause i got the same problem. I think it may be the dash lights wire behind the stereo. only because i messed with mine and when i hit a bump the fuse blew!
it pops as soon as i plug it in so i know its gotta be something with power on all the time and its probley grounding out somewhere, im going to take a guess and say its the cluster sence thats the most complicated thing i put in and it was a tight fit. and yeah, electrical gremlins suck, finding buggs was by far the most comlicated part of school, expecialy when we used bits of aluminum foil as corosion or a loose pin in a connector...
Hope you keep fire insurance on that...

well, hear's an update, i only had a few minutes to play with the car today because im working on one of 3 super secret projects, but with the cluster disconected and no visible fraing the fuse still popped. also, their is a problem between my ign switch and ign, selenoid because the car wount start, i have acc. power but no cranky, yet if i leave it on run position and jump the selenoid it stays running. this car is like a mystery book lol. and im up to my neck in wires with only my volt meter to keep me company
Well you could get lucky and find the #18 problem when you check the starter circuit. Although there not connected on any diagram the fact that both problems came at the same time could mean something.
The only thing between the igintion kay and the start relay is the neutral safety switch or clutch depressed switch.
Both/either run through wire #32 R/LB.
Just to have mentioned it, there are referances in the manual to an "anti-theft module and relay" with alarm lamp. It would also cut power to the starter.

and as far as the fire insurance, my car's already caught on fire. When i had my hydro's in the trunk and 4 industrial sized deep cells. I burnt up a wire and set all the oil that it leaked on fire. That was an interesting experiance on the highway.
