im getting closer to the day of getting my cougar on the road, and was wondering what people would recomend for parts, i need-
plugs
wires
air filter (going to get a CAI with K&N)
pvc valve (just generic)
o2 sensor (probably generic too)
distributor rotor
distributor cap
just segestions on good, not too expensive, brands...
plugs: Motor Craft awsf44C
wires: Ford Racing 9mm wires
air filter (going to get a CAI with K&N): Don't know I have ram air :D
pvc valve (just generic): Motorcraft
o2 sensor (probably generic too): bosch should be good
distributor rotor: Motorcraft
distributor cap: Motorcraft
I agree with most of thunderjet302's input.
CAI- I have a chrome one made by MAC and it comes with their own "performance" air filter. There are variations depending on if you want a fender mounted filter or non fender mounted filter. They're reasonably priced.

O2's- Ford has a kit, I don't have the part number on me now, but anyway, it has O2's and various other sensors and relays. I think it was between $75 and $95. I also think it was cheaper than getting aftermarket O2's like the Bosch ones plus you get some other stuff.
dont forget fuel filter and oil change, i go with motorcraft stuff all the way, and bosh
Why bother? The car in your avatar is already tuned up. :)
segestion number one would be finding a picture of YOUR car and using it as your avatar, not someones car you found on coolcats and flaunt like its yours.
segestion number two, spell check
segestion number three, go with what thunderjet is saying.
Comment One
is that better? and i never meant to offend anyone or piss anyone off, just the car looks exactly like mine, but i changed it now to a picture of my 2 cars (the cougar of corse, and the grand prix in the background)
Comment Two
way to lasy too du all dat stuph... ;)
Comment Three
Will do, thanks for the help...
I'd recommend using Accel parts. I have their wires, HD distributor cap, and rotor on mine. They work great. As for the air filter, I use the SVO cotton gauze filter from Ford Motorsport which is similar to the K&N. The Accel wires will be around $30 and cap rotor combo runs about $23ish. Right now, I just have a set of Autolite plugs in it which work good, but I've heard Bosch or Accel plugs are best for the 5.0s, all of my friends with 5.0 Mustangs use those. I havn't replaced the O2 sensors yet but I would probubly go with Motorcraft on them.
Here's the kit I got

The suggested retail is $90 but I got mine at the dealer for $80. It beats getting two individual Bosch O2's as they alone will cost you about $80. This way you get a couple extras for the same price.
thanks for the help guys... im slowly getting on the process of getting this cat back on road... its just a long teediouse process of making it look good again and fixing all the oil leaks and problems and all that jazz... im sure a few people on here knows how i feel...
