Title: brain fart...SPEEDO question...
Post by: shame302 on February 22, 2006, 06:09:20 PM
should have asked this forever ago. i assumed the tbirds use an electronic speedo similar too the sn95 mustangs vs the mechanical speedos that the fox mustangs use...im right, right? or is it still mechanical...i thought the fox stangs use a cable of some sort too drive the speedo while the tbirds are electronic....

with a rear gear swap you still have too change the speedo gear at the tranny, is this what it makes it mechanical? i just always assumed the tbirds were electronic....

The speedo is electronic. Instead of a cable, the electronic one has a sensor on the tranny. When you change the rear gears you must change the speedo sensor drive gear (the same as the cable drive gear on a Mustang). Mustang drive gears will work.

Don't know how the newer Mustang is set up. All I know is that we can use the same speedo drive gears the Fox Mustang guys use when changing gears, only we attach the gear to a speed sensor while the 'Stang guys attach it to a cable

Well I know for sure that 94-5's use the same speed sensor with the same plug.
