Title: '87 xr7 High idle problem
Post by: 87tbirdmanjwg on February 17, 2006, 10:48:22 PM
Tonight after work I crank my car to go home, It idles up as normal but does not idle down. At one point It reached close to 2000 rpm's wile I was leting it warm up. When in gear It was about 1200 rpm's and would not go bellow that. I popped the hood and the checked to throttle body to make sure it wasn't stuck and checked all the vaccum lines; everything seemed fine. Could it be the Map sensor? Any help would be great. ~Jonathan~

Sounds like your IAC stuck.  Just tap on it to see if it will free up.  If not pull it off and clean it out and have it tested.

I'll have to take it off tomorrow and spray some wd40 in it. I went back out and cranked the cougar up again and it's not doing it now. The negitive degree temps. outside might be affecting things...:hick:
