Title: It'shereit'shereit'shereit'shereit'shere!
Post by: Thunder Chicken on February 17, 2006, 02:35:54 PM
My package from CHE arrived today! In the package was:It all looks top notch - the workmanship on the CHE arms is exquisite! Can't wait to get this stuff in!

One thing I hadn't thought of, though, is the rear upper bushings. For some reason I thought that the CHE arms would have the bushings for where the arms connect to the "eyes" on the rear end. I'll likely just get some stock replacement bushings for those, though - I should think a little bit of flexibility in the setup would be good to prevent binding.

Giddy with antition...

Carm, Jegs sells just the upper bushings, for situations just like yours.

Just don't put poly bushings on both sides of the UCAs.

I don't know of ANY aftermarket control arm sets (even for the Mustang) that come with the bushings that go in the axle itself. If there are any they're few and far between. That's mostly because it's recommended you just keep the factory bushings in there so you don't rip out your torque boxes. I think it's also a royal pain in the buttocks to change that bushing with the axle in the car.

That's why I said this: ;)

Knowing how the suspension works in these cars I couldn't see how the axle could move if all of the bushings were rigid. Thanks for verifying that, though - as I said before, I am an electronics guy, not a suspension guy :D

The rear end won't be in the car. I'm swapping a TC rear in, so if I do replace those bushings I'll do it when the rear is out - the rear  swap is what initiated this whole spending spree :hick:

while i dont know for sure if their is actually a differance between these and stock replacement, i bought these for mine....

they are "police interceptor"/police issue rear upper bushings. i got them from PPI. reguardless, they are a million times better than the 18 year old peices that were on the car....

I did exactly what you intend on doing and I still get a little bind when taking on ramps to parkways and whatnot.  I can't imagine how it would be with poly's on it instead.

How do you adjust the ride height on your lca's?
Is the piece that the spring rests on?
I'd say by looking at your pic of it all, and that wrench looking tool.
(I think I just answered my own question)

(I think I just answered my own question-I've never even heard of an adjustable control arm till now-excuse my ignorance, lol)

My plan is to use the following for the UCA axle bushings,
Ford Performance PartsM-4050-B 8.8" AXLE INSTALLATION KIT if they are available. They're not poly.
