My car stays inside our heated cement-floor barn all winter, without insurance. Anyone else store their car over the cold months? I'm getting insurance back on my 'Bird today.
this will be the last year it sits outside. i just keep it cleaned off and move it around. i dont drive it. it never sees a salt road....
Yep. Unheated oversized double garage. The problem is, I parked it for the winter a year and a half ago. :(
The cougar has been "sitting pretty" in a boat storage shed this winter with the interior half ripped out. Actually, it's not that pretty, lol!
She also developed a strange problem with the brakes. I got it out last month to drive it and I couldn't stop it (which is usually a bad thing). So I need to look into that.
Yea, that's probably not a good thing.
Yep...mine's been sitting on a patch of concrete, on jackstands, with a car cover & tarp over it since mid-October. I'm planning on getting it back out here in a couple weeks so I can start working on it.
the po of my car had it in winter storage for 7 years. im sure glad the ended up needing thae space in their garrags cause now i own the bird.
This will be the last winter my 'Bird stays outside. I usually take the PL/PD insurance off and leave the comprehensive on, but this year, when the Volvo engine blew, I left insurance on it and hadn't bothered removing it.
Mine's in our garage next to our bayliner rec. boat.
She's warm, I fire her up every so often to keep her happy.
Funny, I do that very same thing with my girlfriend every-now-and-then! lol
both my XR-7's and SC are sitting in the back yard under 2' of snow,so they are kinda stored untill may.
bought of mine are in garages 600 miles apart, bought are in pieces as well. though i will be driving the TC... rain, snow, or shine.
Daily Driver here. Rain, Snow, Salt and Mud, you name it, she plows through.
See sig. Zephyr's covered though.
Mine's a block away in my grandparents garage under a cover and sitting with old steel wheels on it (I stack the tires I drive on in the summer like pancakes to keep them from getting flat spots). I go over and start it up once a week for 15 minutes or so just to keep the engine in good shape. I can't wait till April 1st when i can take it out again. Some how driving my '93 Buick Century isn't the same  .
I drive the white XR/7 for now but store the black GS it sleeps on plastic with jack stands under her I pull the wheels off and the battery comes out but most impotant I spray 2 large cans of WD-40
on the entire bottom side and in the engine comartment it keeps the moisture off of the metal. I fog my motor also. :nono: I'm not a fan of starting the engine and shutting it down it just adds condinsation to the inside of the exhaust system then you know what hapens next.
I don't start mine for the entire time it's stored. Just gotta make sure the oil pressure is up sufficiently before I DO start it.
I just hope no animals have gotten up in my exhaust pipes...
Bite me, Mr. Original-21-Year-Old-ler. ;)
Sorry fellas...no substitute for a garage. The Max and the droptop are both in garages. That comes at a premium for money and space but it's the only way to go if you can do it.
I useta keep mine in a shed but my brother has too much of his in it so I couldn't do it this year. I don't mind leaving mine outside, I just don't want a bunch of animals getting into it.
The two 88 XR-7s (Before and After) are in my insulated garage which is integrated into the house so it stays somewhat warm.
The 86 and 87 XR-7 are outside.
They all get their engine run, AC kicked on, brakes used, windows, mirrors, antenna, etc...everything gets exercised. The only car that hasn't been driven since November is Before. I am hoping the only detriment that has is on his tires which will hopefully smooth out once I get the chance to drive it on the road again. The Miata is in the way right in front of the garage and it's under a cover so it's kind of a pain to get the cover off and all of that without getting the cover dirty during this wet, windy, cold season.
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway - no driving in winter rain or salt-covered roads for these cats.
i drive mine daily through everything, snow, ice, salt, whatever. But i do have 2 stangs in the garage nice and warm till the weather lets up and its 60+ again
ive got 3 cougars 2 of them are daily drivers 3 one is parked in the garge still waiting to be fixed
My mustang sees the garage now and being that it only snowed once this winter and it has already melted, this one wasn't bad. When the wife gets her new car we've decide to keep her 2000 cougar as a commuter for me. Then the Demon will be outside, but won't see winter roadways.
my pickup has been stored this winter but thats due to some major electricle problems ive been fixing. i now have it put back together enough i can start the engine so its getting close.
My cougar is in this winter. I've started on some of the upgrades. This is the 1st winter she has been inside. After the new paint job this spring she will be inside most of the time.
