Well, it's finally happend. We have our first snowstorm of the season.
Unfortunately, this is my weekend to work but there is an upside.
My boss put me up in a hotel that's in the same complex as our building with dinner and what not at no cost to me. Have any of you stayed in a Residence in Marriott? The room was like a small apartment. A separate bedroom, living area, kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and all the plates glasses utensils and so on. Two tvs okay, two.
He also gave me access to the company 4wd van. It's a '97 Ford Aerostar that looks new and has just over 30,000 on the ticker. While it may not seem like much of a company vehicle, it gets the job done. It did suck digging it out from the 2 foot snowdrift blocking me in though.
Now I just hope that I don't have school tomorrow or atleast have a long delay. I talked to my parents at home and my Tib is buried in a snow drift along with most of my driveway. And they plowed the street so there is a nice wall there. And as luck would have it, our snow blower isn't working. Both my mom and dad have 4x4's so they'll have no problems. So it looks like I'll be shoveling when I get home around 9 tonight to get up at 5am for class. That's a big disadvantage to working 12 hour shifts. Oh well.
So how is your winter storm situation?
The snow is just starting here, 8-10" expected with 60MPH wind.
We got about 10" over here.
We got just enough to make the ground white, and it is 95% gone already. It has been an unusually mild winter here.
They're predicting 20 inches here... Before this storm we'd only had about 5" total.
You'll probably get it too. I heard last night that the storm is gaining strength and you'll be getting blizzard-like conditions. It's down to a light flurry here now. The sun has been peaking out every once in a while and I just got news that I can leave work around 4:30. Woohoo!!
I'm not the biggest fan of snow!
We didn't get near what I thought we were goin to here...maybe 3" at most. Which is weird because it was snowing like crazy all day yesterday. :dunno:
hahahahaha were getting nothing in the western end of ny:flip:
We got 20" on the first, another 8-10" Friday night, and we're suppose to get what Thunder Chicken is getting now, tonight. Calling for another 6" before it turns to rain.
ive got about 8-10 now supose to keep snowing till 7
Sonofabitchinglyasshole!
I hate snow - sometimes I can actually take my car out to "exercize it" in the winter, won't be for a while now :(
That's a new kind of mad right there. Or a mild attack of Tourette's :giggle:
I'm assuming it's either starting to snow up there or you just saw your forcast.
This winter has been so pathetic, snow 6-8 inches then rain two days later. I just sold my tundra yesterday for half its value just because I was sick of looking at it. Now I cant wait till summer.
i figgure winter is over here. the last couple days ive been working on my truck i nothing but a t-shirt and jeans. i think im going to prep the snowmobile for summer today and get it put back in the shed:mad: you guyes are so lucky.
about the same here in ME...only less wind...my T-bird is happy though...it'll never see the dandruff again;)
correction, we got 12-14"
We have had a weird year in Calgary, we have had maybe 2 snowstorms all year and both melted in less than a week. We have had no snow for quite some time now...grass fires instead !?!? I think at most about 3 -4 inches fell both times and thats it.
So nobody else took pictures of the winter wonderland outside their front door?
well no since the snow ammount hasent changed in the past few days. and no we got no snow with this storm rolling through
Ask and ye shall receive, though it's not a good pic (can't use the flash in the snow). We've got about 4" down now, and I really don't think we'll see much more
We've had a strange winter too. We had a few big storms before Christmas, then it all melted by Christmas, then we had no snow until Feb 1, when we got a foot, then by the end of the weekend it was all gone again, and now this storm. I've gotten to ride the snowmobiles exactly once (the Feb 1 storm - the machines were not in good working condition for the December storms)
Had to wait until I got home. Here's some.
From my hotel room window. Notice the snow piled at the bottom of the window.

Here's the scene when I got to work. The white van is the company van I used to get around in.
Here's the ride home. My mom lent me her new Grand Cherokee for the weekend.
Roads were fine along route 1 (The main road I travel)

Here's a barn I pass along the way home.

Coming onto the Conowingo Dam
Here's what I came to when I got home
The Cougar...

The Tib...

I just shoveled a little infront of the Tib and didn't bother cleaning it off and managed to drive it out of there. The Cougar will probably sit like that until the snow melts.
Hahah I'm in the middle of PA... Western PA got hammered, Eastern PA even worse. The Middle got nothing!! We got maybe .5 of an inch!
HAHHA
We got about 4" way down here in NC even. Yesterday I went up to a place called Soco Gap, which sits at about 4,400 feet, and there was 14" up there! We played in it all day long. I'll post pics later on when I get home.
We didn't get much snow before it turned to rain, maybe .5"
6*C here today and showers.
What we got last night is all melted. Only got 1/2 inch or so.
Ohio has a bubble. Or southeast Ohio atleast.
A dusting of snow in NE Ohio also. It's nice for a change. ;)
well it is gonna be rainy everyday for the rest of the week, with snow possible tommarow and the next day. Only about 3" though.
We ended up with about 4" total from the "storm". Snowmobiles or no snowmobiles, I am not regretting the lack of snow this year...
24.1" in central park.
13.1" in Oceanside, the next town over.
20" where I work in Islip.
All according to NOAA website.
I washed the truck on Saturday but our .5" of snow made sure it got dirty right away. Yeah I tell ya, life was TOUGH with this storm rolling through. But I'll be enjoying 45 degrees tomorrow while thinking of all you guys buried under snow. :flip:
