How do you guys think one would look intergrated on an '87/'88 thunderbird hood?
The concave lines on the scoop would probably clash with the hood lines. But you never know how something looks until you try it and I like those scoops. Photochop it?
I would, but sadly I don't know how...I've sketched it though, but I don't have a scanner.
In a nutshell......like sh#t IMO.
I want some sort of functional reverse hood scoop to let hot air out of the engine compartment. I don't want a cowl, those are chevy thing. I think with a little work, the lines of a thunderbolt scoop would blend nicely onto the raised center section of our hoods. Of course it would be mounted the correct way, with the two openings facing the windshield. I think I shall do it, just to prove to you guys that it could look great and be functional. Plus, It would be original to our cars.
I've never liked the look of Thunderbolt scoops on anything except Galaxies and maybe an old Falcon. To each his own though.
I personally think fox thunderbirds look sweet with a cowl hood on them.
I think if you take the scoop as it sits it will look horrible.
I'm not that much of a fan of them even on Thunderbolts.
But if you knock the height of it down and integrate the lines of the hood with the scoop, it might not look pretty good.
Just need to avoid it's natural big bubble look. I think a custom scoop modeled after the Thunderbolt scoop design would be your best bet.
It's all a matter of how it's executed.
By all means, do it. It would be different and our opinions are worthless compared to your own taste. :)
The scoop I was looking at getting is about a inch and a half shorter than one on a real thunderbolt, so hopefully I can make it look more streamlined and not bubbley. It's not going to look quite like what everyone is invisioning it. The scoops lines will have a smooth and flush transition onto the hood.
Cool, good luck with it.
I also made an error. Right here
I meant to take out that "not"
It was supposed to say "it might look pretty good"
doh :brick:
Do what you like man. There is nobody here that can tell you what to do with your car. Hell, I don't think anybody likes my rims, but I don't care. They look a hell of a lot better then the 14"ers and hubcaps.
I built a 3.5" Cowl hood and will probably mount my 69 Mach scoop on it to finish it off.
