I posted this is another thread, but...
Here's one for you guys. The SFC's we did at KB's when I was there.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kenny-Brown-83-88-Ford-Thunderbird-SubFrame-Connectors_W0QQitemZ8037663686QQcategoryZ42609QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
KB is defunct and done...and everything is being sold. I know the guy selling this stuff, but I also know he's an ebay profiteer. I'll see what is bottom dollar out the door on a set of these is if folks are interested.
I'll actually know how many he has tomorrow and know if ebay will be the only option or not for these.
I'm interested....
Ditto. Thanks for looking out for us Chuck.
i'd like a set of those but that gut is a dick. i bought a dash harness off him. said it was perfect. sent it to me and it was the wrong year, missing a ton of plugs(all cut) and had burnt wires. wanted me to pay to ship it back and pay to ship a replacement
Darn, I wish I hadn't ordered my SFC already. Say Chuck, do you still sell those seat braces?
Wow I like that clapped out '88 Thunderbird that guy is selling for $400, if it's even worth that much since it looks like someone butchered the interior.
I'd have to get more made. I'm all out of my original bunch.
Cool, let me know when you do. And when you get some more of those TC motor mounts too. :D
Oooh, I'll defninitely want one of those.
I'd be interested, Chuck...
Well we'll see tomorrow. If I can get a decent price for them I may just buy a few sets and pass them onto you guys.
The one advantage I have in this situation is I know how much it costs to make these parts ;) What I also find hilarious is that these SFCs actually cost LESS than the Mustang ones to do....but they charged $30-40 more for them (and them wondered why they never sold that many).
I am also looking at one of the K-member jigs.....but I doubt I'll be able to get that..at least not cheaply...and I'm not looking to spend and arm and and ass there tomorrow.
You da man Chuck!
Ok, well I just got back. No word on K-member jigs (and I may not even want to mess with it)
Also, due to room in the vehicle and $$ I had I wound up with 6 sets of the TBird SFCs. They are boxed, plated and ready to go.
Here's what I'm going to do. For you guys I will sell them for $55 plus shipping ($5 more than I paid per set)...he wasn't budging much on the packaged product. PM me if you want a set and we'll work out the fine details.
Also, there are still some of the TBird CC plates they did based on the design I made for my car(s) at the time. These are good "street" CC plates. They are fixed caster (not a big deal really as adding any more + caster is a good thing) and use a poly bushing instead of the spherical bearing. I used the prototypes of these on all of my cars on the street for a good couple years. My Tbird still has my MAX caster set on it for the time being. I was going to ask him about the ones that were left if folks mght be interested. Would you folks be willing to pay say $60-70 for a set? (not sure what I can get them for yet).
I'll take a set of the SFC's. I'll send you a PM
you have a pm. :D
Yup...
Those C/C plates do sound tempting as well.
Already PM'd you, but just letting the others know this means THERE ARE 2 SETS LEFT, get'em while they're hot!
Ok, well the following folks have contacted me about SFCs
-Thunder Chicken
-cougarman
-4thqtr
-DakotaEpic
-Warbird9
I will back w/ all of you on totals here soon.
That leaves one set.
Also, I'll know more Mon about the CC plates. I talked to him a bit ago I'm still working him on the price, but the amount I mentioned earlier would probably be doable.
Chuck, i'll take the last set
Dang, always a day late....
Chuck if one of your customers falls through, I would like to be placed next on the list....
Oh yeah, and I would be interested in the CC plates too....
Thanks,
Greg
All of the SFCs are spoken for. If I get more I'll let folks know.
On the CC plates, it's looking like the $70 mark might be closer to what these will cost. I'll work on him more, but that will be the max.
Just so every one knows what these are, they are similar to these

but for 83-88 Tbirds/Cougars. They are actually based on my drawings from my prototypes all those years ago. The caster is fixed (you get about 3-4* more postive caster) and camber is adj as usual. Poly bushings instead of spherical bearings. These are good solid performance street units. They will come with all the hardware and a dust boot, etc.
Im interested in the CC plates. Definatly.
:headbang:
i would SO be in for both the CC plates and SFC if i hadnt already purchased some....awesome thing your doing for the guys Chuck...what a stand up guy...
Ok, still no firm info on the CC plates (they moved a bunch of stuff on him today), but I'd like to have folks who are interested in a the CC plates (like I said before $70 + shipping should be the max) to send me a PM so I have a better idea of how many would be needed. I might try and grab a couple more SFCs as well.
PM sent to you sir Chuck.
I sent you a PM
What the hell is wrong with these fvcking people!?!!?
Look at that first link for the SFCs and see what they went for.... Dumbasses. He even says he has more than one set.....
Hell, I couldn't even give mine away for $65/set....
I'm talking with the guy today about getting some more SFCs and the Caster plates..of course he now has this as leverage on me....
I hope whoever the high bidder on those things was drops them on their foot....
WTF, $405 !!!!! :wtf: :wtf:
I suppose if people will pay $500 for a 140MPH speedo it shouldn't surprise one that someone would pay $405 for something that actually, you know, improves the car
eBay is a funny thing, though - the next set might go for $25. I will always remember the time I sold that Crown Vic door trim (available at Ford dealers for about eleven bucks) for over $250. Usually I had trouble getting ten bucks for a pair, sometimes I'd luck out and get $15, but that one time...
Well there is a difference between an aftermarket you could make yourself and a NOS item...
I'll know more today (Talked to him once already). If he tries to screw me based on this auction I'll walk, and he can choke on them....
KB is a very common acronym!
KB = Kenny Brown or
KB = Keith Black pistons or
KB = Kenne Bell
OK guys..I have some bad news.
As you know I was talking to the guy today about organizing getting some more SFCs and getting some Caster Plus kits. Well probably 2 hours after I talked to him as he was on his way up to the shop to verify things, another investor has swooped in and bought all the stuff that was left, so that deal is now closed.
Rumor is that the person heading the new deal (one of the sales guys from KBP) is working with Ken on some level. I know they've lost the showroom/offices and the shop, but are going to work out of the manf side for the time being.
So what does that mean for the Tbird/Cougar guys? Well the parts that were left are probably going to be available at some point, but most likely not at the prices I was going to be able to offer them to you guys. I know they will have no plans for production on them either (1. Because I knew they had canned the product line a while back, and 2. Because I have all the drawings (they were mine to begin with ;) )
I'm sorry things worked out this way. There's really nothing I can do at this point.
So what this REALLY means is that some time in the future there will be a "May look into producing some cc plates" thread started by one "Chuck W" :deal:
Joking apart, if I should decide I want CC plates after replacing the rest of my suspension (and get tired of replacing front tires from the outer edges wearing out), will Mustang ones work, and if not, what mods would be required to make them work?
I'm contemplating it...but it's a matter of space limitations to do much more production than what I'm doing.
As far as the Mustang plates go. You can make Fox plates work if you flip one side around and elongate the forward hole in the tower rearward 1/2" or so as the Mustang plates are "shorter".
Flip one side around? YOu mean as in "buy two left (or right) side plates"? or "buy the left and right but install one side backward"? Elabourate, please :D I'm sure if I do end up buying a Mustang set I'll be pestering the hell out of you for advice anyway :hick:
why not just buy MM TBird C/C Plates?
Since the drawings are yours, I assume you own the rights to them? Been to the patent office yet?
The Tbird plates both are oriented in the same direction, on a Mustang they are flipped front to back on opposite sides of the car. They are the same mount, just oriented differently.
Paul-
The thing with the patent office is is costs $$$ to get a patent....I don't have $$$....
Dang! That sucks. But thanks for all your effort Chuck, it really was above and beyond. If my oven wasn't broken I'd bake you some cookies in appreciation. :D
I knew it! More common sense in a Tbird design than in the Mustang...
I expected that Chuck, I'm sure you'll have some colorful things to say on YM tomorrow...:D
SFCs are no big deal like I already agreed, the CC plates were just a simple and cheap design that worked good, the MM plates are 180 or 200 bucks I think. Be careful Chuck, you know if you start making them the design could wind up getting cranked out of a Chinese factory by someone like SSAutochrome.
