I need to get some shocks and struts for my 85' Cougar and I was wondering what ones might you people here suggest. I was some good performance ones but I don't want to spend a lot on them and I still want it to ride good. Thanks...Peace
monroe sensa tracks are nice....
Just go to Autozone and buy the gabriel's. They are cheap and they have a lifetime warrenty. With your 21 year old car you won't believe the improvement with just stock replacements.
I found a set of new motorcraft struts for my 1988 cougar on ebay for 39.99 a pair. Dirt cheap original parts for around $50.00 shipped to my door, they ride great! Check ebay, you might catch some on there for your 85. I used gabriel shocks and napa/monroe quad shocks on the rear.
i agree with the stock replacements... though i hate to do that myself. i have had very bad luck with gabriels on gm's. they never lasted more than a couple months. i got a set of sensatrac's waiting to go on my bird, i just hope i don't regret passing up a couple sets of illuminas and bilsteins... which showed up after the fact of course. =/
isnt that always the way it goes....
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will think on it a little bit before I decide which ones I want to buy. Thanks...peace
:iagree:
Got 'em on my Bird and they ride pretty good. Not too stiff not to soft just right.
After thinking about it a little bit and hearing what some of you had to say. I am really leaning toward the Monroe Sensa Tracs, but we will see what happens in the future. Thanks
