Since we took over CAT JAM's thread... here is a place we can talk about this.
http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CE&Product_Code=2429
is the link for the form.
Count me in. I'll request these dates and CJ off at work tomorrow.
Ill be there, dunno if im going inside the gate, would like to but dunno if the car will be done enough by my standards.
that stang looks pretty hot to me
Nice move Steve.
I plan on being there whether the car is ready or not.
Bane, take the car in if you plan on going for all three days. It'd be cheaper than paying admission each day to get in (I think, have to double check that). Plus your car is inside the gate so you don't have to go far after you buy stuff. :D
Now will you guys be staying at that campground for $15 or are you staying somewhere else?
I'll probably be staying at a hotel.
My dad was getting some type of discount through Best Western but I don't know if he still can. If he does, then I may be there. I've been on their site but can't find the one I stayed at. I think it was between 9 and 15 miles out from the fairgrounds.
Also, after you enter the show, they have a series of spots open with hoses so you can wash your car for nothing. Unless that was just a courtesy since it was raining when I went.
My Dad wants to come. I dunno if he will be able to get work off. But he doesn't want to camp. I could care less, and would rather save the money to buy new parts. But when the time comes closer or whenever you find out let me know what hotel you staying at. Safety in numbers right?! haha
I didn't know you have a tibby? Those are really nice cars.
I friend of mine has one and it's really a sleeper. He has the stock rims and stock body. Nothing done. Which is nice in itself. But that son of a gun is running 11 or 12s. Of course he has some spray too.
Yeah, I'll let you know after I talk it all over with my dad and we get our plans set.
The Tibby is nice. I got a 4 banger so it would be good on gas but it is about the slowest thing I've ever driven. I'd be lucky if it ran a 20. lol
I'm thinking about building it up once the warrenty runs out.
yea but if i dont get my hood before, ill get it there...dunno how well it will fit in the hatch area lol. Id love to park it in the gate, but Idont feel like dealing with people to get in/out and i dont know anyone over in the foxbody mustang side, might have to sneak over to the thunderbird/cougar side lol.
I'm going..... I MAY actually bring both cars.....
So if you can only bring one, bring the cougar.
It's cooler :p
what hotels did people stay at last year? I got lucky last year, Was at work on friday going up saturday and had found a room at the quality inn thats 3miles from the fairgrounds :D So Ill prally stay there again this year.
Just let me know where you guys are going. SO I can make reservations.
yea thats what im wondering to, maybe we all could get into the same hotel.
Yea that's what I'm hoping.
Yeah, I don't know where I'll be staying. It'll be my dad and I so I don't care where and I don't think he does either.
I just don't want to pay a rediculous rate for a room.
http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=MDTHHHF
It's a little far at 20 something miles, but they have a parking garage. I may stay at this one this year:http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hd/mdtdt
I agree with Steve, I think we should all stay at the same hotel. Would be kinda cool.
Ok everyone who has made reservations and who hasnt? What hotel? Its getting a little late so everyone needs to get this going...
My car is pre-registered. The TC will be there in its dented up and peeling form.
As for hotel? Fugg it, ill sleep in my car, or crash on a floor.
Any hotels yet? I checked on hotels.com and every hotel is like 130 a night! I think I may just set up the good ol' tent!
, the Ford Nationals have snuck up on me outta nowhere! I was there last year and I had a blast. Gotta do it again this year.
Chris
I know I thought it was later... June 2 is like almost here! I wish I would have seen Wills post last week. I just stumbled upon this today and was shocked! How close is the campground located? And once you enter your car are you allowed to drive it out of the fairgrounds to lets say go to a hotel or do you have to keep it there all weekend? I'm about 95% sure I'll be staying at their campgrounds (now wherever it is)
Yes, you are allowed to leave the grounds with your car. It does not stay there overnight. I think the only ones that do stay are the ones in the buildings or the ones that are part of displays.
You get a window sticker that marks you as a partint and gets you back in when you leave.
I still have to look for a hotel. I just haven't had the time to really discuss it with my dad.
From what time to what time is the show...
Such as when do you come in and when do you leave?
I think its pretty much when you want. When I went, I think I got in around 10am saturday and I left around 6pm. Some people were leaving 3 and 4pm. Sunday is fairly open. Show up if you want, leave when you want and you can almost park wherever you want. Especially after the parade and awards which finishes up around 3pm, I think. Then its just a matter of when you want to leave. Everyone about darts out after the raffle.
Just booked a room.
I'll be staying at the Super 8 Motel. Rate is $80 per night since my dad can get the senior discount :giggle:
The motel is less than 5 miles from the fairgrounds. It's not bad so if anyone wants to set up reservations there the address is...
Super 8 Motel - Carlisle /North
1800 Harrisburg Pike
Carlisle, PA 17013
Phone- 717-249-7000
If you haven't already, stop on over here and check out the Ford Nats threads.
http://www.carlisleforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5
I'm preregistered and will probably commute 2 days to Carlisle. Gotta save my room $$ for the Power Tour.
I'd like to go but I am having a hard time justifying over $300 for that weekend.
It seems the rooms are 120 to 130 per night, then car is 35 - that's practically 300 bucks before gas or anything else.
Gas and admission really isn't my hang-up, it's those room rates for BFE PA. I wonder how many of us we can cram into one room.
We've tried that...the smell gets overwhelming with more than 3 people. :D
Yes.
I'm all about sleeping in my car hahahaa!!! It wouldn't have been the first time! It's rather relaxing actually.... put the moonroof back and sit and look up at the stars. Really relaxing (just as long as it's not raining)
In order to get my projects completed I'll be out of money also. So hotel is out of the question, it's just too much for me at the moment. My father has been off work again after an accident at work when a double stacked tool chest full of craftsmen tools came rolling down a ramp at his plant and ran over his foot smashing all the bones in his left foot. I swear he has the worst luck! So I believe he is doubtful for Carlisle and maybe for CJ. So maybe I could get lucky and meet a hot ass chick at carlisle and then she could keep me company in the cougar.... ahh dreams can happen.
A little hint. Don't go to Expedia or Orbitz to find a room. I found that the rate for the Super 8 I'm at is listed for 130 a night there. On Super 8's website, I think it was listed for like 90 a night for the same time. There's also a Best Western thats about 20 miles out thats a bit cheaper. I did that in '04 and the place was great but for a few bucks more, I figured I'd just stay closer this year.
I think my total for the weekend will be around $245 including gas. Not including food though or parts :D Considering I missed it last year and the year before that, I only went two days and now I'm doing all three, I think its worth it.
Steve, just don't have any "dreams" about that hot ass chick while you're sleeping in your Cougar :giggle:
NO way man.... haha I figure something out. I would much rather spend 200 in some new parts rather then 200 on sleeping on a spring matress. I'll go hobo for a night no biggy. I'm going to preregister tomorrow.
83 is preregistered! and the new 88 that you people dont know about may come as well! Yeah, I jsut let it outta the bad, I have another TurboCoupe :X
This just in from DanL, Marketing Assistant of Carlisle Staff. As of March 10, 2006 Lincoln PRE REGISTRATION stands at:

This is FANTASTIC NEWS!
The 2005 All Ford Nationals Fun Field netted over 20 Lincoln Mark VIIs. This year, we're targeting TWICE as many Lincoln Mark VII owners to PRE REGISTER (http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CE&Category_Code=FD) their vehicles! Our goal is to provide as many classes of Lincoln Mark VII judging as possible to encourage fair and even judging.
If you are NOT one of the PRE REGISTERED Lincolns listed above, I encourage you to do so NOW. Spread the word! We sincerely hope that the Carlisle Staff can look at our numbers before the May cut off date and, at a minimum, provide one STOCK and one MODIFIED area, for our Lincoln Mark VIIs.
Go to the Cars At Carlisle forum an thank DanL and DaveP for their assistance in showing every one what we already know; Lincoln makes the BEST automobiles!

See my post and feel free to chime in....
http://www.carlisleforums.com/showthread.php?t=740
i chimed in :)
Thanks!
This party is gonna be unbelievable!:)
wow they really wanna bend ya over on prices :( But Ill prally reserve a room at the same super8 as fred for me and the gf...Still undecided to enter the car into the field with me wanting to buy parts and whatnot. My AOD is on its last leg, I have a almost complete T5 ready to go in but it will be cutting it VERY close.
It's cheaper for me to make the two extra round trips from my house rather than stay up there.
Is anyone willing to split a room if I decide to get one for 70/night?
So for two nights, it would be $70 each.
Notice I said "if I decide..."
Just wondering if anyone would be willing to split a room however, I am leaning toward making the round trips. Coming home allows me to clean the car, not have to pack for the whole weekend, unload any purchases, sleep in my own bed, not have to leave my car in a public parking lot but rather my garage......I think I just convinced myself to come home every night if I go to the show this year.
Now I just have to decide if I'm even going.
I think that most places in Carliskle are already booked for that weekend. I booked in January and had to settle for a 30 minute drive from the hotel to the fairgrounds.
I found some decent places in Chambersburg, PA with normal rates. It's just a 20-25 minute drive down an interstate so it's an easy drive.
I'm parking somewhere.... hahah free.
k I'm registered for carlisle now. :)
I smell something.
WHat??? That I'm broke as broke can get... So that's why I'm winging it all and just going to sleep in my car somewhere.
That's not really a bad thing.
27 years and seven Kids ago, I too would actually consider something like that.
Then again, I used to pack heat.
Yah a barely above minimum wage job doesn't go very far. A hotel room would take me 2 weeks to make the 130/night for two nights. So... 2 weeks of work or 2 nights of sleeping in my car.... hmm. I guess in my situation I gotta take what I can get. Hopefully it's not 100 degrees out, cuz then I'd feel bad for anyone who has to be around me :) haha nah I'll take a shower when I wash my car
I have a room in Mechanicsburg Pa for $75 a night.
room has been reserved at the super8 fred is at :) I could of went the $99 a night but im going with the $120 a night so I can get a kitchenette an shiznit so me and my gf can just make food there which ends up saving money from gas and fast food lol
weasle what hotel are you in. I just reserved at the EconoLodge. Not bad 2 beds no smoking tv ground level for 75!
Sleeping in the car after being baked by the sun all day doesn't sound like much fun.
75 sounds good and it's 10 miles away...
Cool Bane. See you there.
now i just need to stock up on some beverages ;) before I go lol. still dunno if i wanna take my car or not...locks died :(
U better be coming now!!! You can't bring the gf and not bring a car. That'd just make you look bad :)
i have a ford ranger also..so i wouldnt be going without a ford, and I doubt a hood for my car will fit in the hatch :P
Everyone still going?
Yep! I still have to register though...
... that was a quick reply!!! :)
What can I say. I'm at work waiting to be relieved and I have nothing better to do than to refresh the new post page every 10 seconds.:giggle:
Pre registration can only HELP your judging class. It also saves you money over the AT THE GATE price.
Yep, just waiting for the tax return to be deposited and....... let me see here...... it just came in yesterday. Wohooo!
I'll be registering any time now.
Better be!!!
I gotta get my classic registration sent in this week also!!!
I'm calling myself out...
my Saab's front ball joints shot yesterday along with a few other important fixes needed. I can't pass inspection until these are fixed. Money just isn't coming in fast as I expected. TY gas prices. Count me in for CJ tho. GL to all who go to carlisle.
Awww, Steve, no go for you. Sorry to hear it.
I got my confirmation in the mail yesterday!
Im still going.
If only theyd let you pitch a tent on the grounds. Im all for it.
My money is sent in.
I'm camping, preregistered with NATO a while back.
Would like to bring mine there too, but I'm out of work right now and dunno if I can swing $35!!!!!!!!
Just checked weather.com
Fri and Sat, 60% chance of showers.
Don't forget your poncho!:rollin:
I'm sure it will change though.
If there's more than a 10% chance of showers...I'll be there in the truck. :)
^ see that.
All the pretty modified cars will bolt because of the rain. Meanwhile my rusty work in progress will be sitting rim deep in mud. I'm certain to place this year!!:hick:
Last year I drove up I-83 in the rain.
By the time I arrived at the Carlisle exit, the rain had stopped. When I pulled into the fairgrounds I was happy to see a wash area.
1 hour later, the car was good as new!
I'm sure you could pitch a tent on my campsite if necessary, I'll probably bring a mini propane grill and the whole works to save some money on food, plus my grilling is just way better than any fast food. Hopefully I can grill on the campsite at least. I have tons of camping stuff.
I'll be there but my car won't be :(
What did I miss?
Why won't your car be there?
She quit on me today.

Dude, I am so sorry to hear that :(
:sorry:
Sorry to hear that Fred. There's been a few stock 5.0's on the Lincoln boards for sale.
! The Nationals snuck up on me outta nowhere! I completely forgot all about it. I'll be there as a spectator and as a consumer. I need to pick up some POR-15, foam brushes, and of course Ford tee shirts!
Chris
Some nice cars you guys had at Carlisle! It is nice to finally see them in person. I had to check out Cougars2go car to see how he mounted the lights in. I got to say that is pretty trick and clean looking! Great cars guys!
James
How about some pics please... i wish I could have made it. *stares at ticket in the garbage bin*
I wish I'd taken pics of those lights but I didn't. I have other pics I will post the link to soon enough, from my Photobucket.
It's 9:43pm and I just got back from my seven hour drive.
What a blast. I'll post some pictures this week, along with some VERY cool videos.
Can anyone host some .mpg or .avi files for me?
Well, despite not having my car with me, I still had a great time.
I got home around 5:30 so about 2 hours and 15 minutes to get home. Not too shabby.
I managed to find a couple good doors for cheap and am the first to find out that 2 fox body doors do infact fit in a Hyundai Tiburon :hick:
1st place '83-88, Karl with After. Congrats man!
2nd place, Will. Sorry my batteries were starting to go and it took a while for the flash to set up. But I did get a good one for you in the winner's area.
I also have pics of all the fox T-bird winners so if you all want them too, I'll post 'em.
I can put them on my host if you'd like. PM me.
Great pics
We had a great time. A total of 9 Fox Cougars were there and for once, all Cougars had a very good spot at the fairgrounds. Too bad they were all jammed in there like sardines. Ah well, could have been worse. The NATO guys had about 34 Turbo Coupes that had to share space with the SC guys. :P
It wouldn't be the Fords@Carlisle show without a little rain...so I didn't bring the car...but that's alright because one more Fox would have really screwed up the parking situation. Next year I'm trailering the ed thing. ;)
It was great to meet new friends (Paul!!) and see all my old friends as well. It mean a lot that y'all showed up with your cars. I'm also very thankful for at least 3 vendors that sold parts for our cars. If it weren't for them, we'd have had a very dry parts hunting experience. Excellent deals to be had all around too.
Fred - I didn't get a chance to say goodbye but I see that you got the doors to fit. Cool!
Yeah, it was tough (about an hours worth of work and minor disassembly of the inside latch) but I managed to squeeze them in there. I won't be doing that again though.
I didn't get to meet Paul. I found his Mustang on the field Saturday, which looks great by the way. I was actually heading to my car Sunday and spotted him leaving. Sorry to miss you.
I was wondering what was going on with the parking. Last time I went in '04, we had plenty of space and this time there wasn't. I thought it was weird. Was it like that last year?
Either way, next year marking the 40th anny of the Cougar and if there is anything special for us in Carlisle, we should have some great spots. I should certainly have the car finished (motor and paint) by then.
I want to thank you all too for the support and ideas for my motor problem and solution.
I had to swing through your area and was quite impressed with Cougars2Go cars.
However, I was disappointed with the swap meet as I was digging for the MOtorsport Grille (the 'cool' one) and came up dry. Although, I did see my old Lightning there for sale in the for sale section.
How in the heck did Karl get all 3 cars down there anyhow?:giggle:
I didn't get a lot of cougar or t-bird pics, but I got some. I did manage to get some of a SWEET '83 TurboCoupe that is for sale. The owner's name and # are in one of the pics. The car needs a good home.
A few more of the TC.
More pics...
These 2 were also in the seller's field....both were listed at $15,900.
Pics....
Pics....Again....
My wife has found she has a penchant for mid to late '50's luxo-barges. Here's one she really liked. 5.0 HO mass air AOD. Kinda makes it real easy to work on too.
Thanks for the compliments folks
I drove one, my wife (Debbie) drove one, and
4thqtr (http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/member.php?u=23) (Andrew) drove one. I've got to put it out there that Andrew was a huge help the whole weekend driving one of my cats and hanging in there on little sleep.
That was my first time entering a car into Carlisle and I did it with three "feet." Having to keep three cars clean for three 120-mile round-trips in the rain was quite the challenge. Again, thanks to Andrew and Debbie, I was able to get all three clean and set up by 11, 11:30 or so Saturday morning.
Will and Les' cars looked like they weren't even rained on before they even touched them.
Great photos too guys!
Here is one I have from Saturday night where Zach, Andrew and I took care of some things on Zach's car in my garage. We made it to bed around 2am
I got some of the burnout videos up. Here you go;)

awesome pics/vids
I see the kuhmo colored smoke guy was there again lol. Still sad I didnt make it up, hopefully next year with a few things done to my car and it painted.
Yup.
The red and blue started last year and I'm sure it will be an attraction for a long time.
We shot video from our vantage point but haven't posted it yet:

My fav hahah thanks for posting! LOL
I had a great time! Even with trading sleep to get to Carlisle early each day, there was still plenty that I didn't get to do. I can't wait for next year. Remember everyone, it's the 40th anniversary of the Cougar.
Also, sorry I didn't get to meet you Paul.
Zach - glad you made it back safely.
Ok folks. I put together some of the better pictures that I took this past weekend. Enjoy!
http://members.tccoa.com/cougarcragar/carlisle.html
I'll have the videos digitized within two weeks or so...
I'll bet I walked past you and your ride like six times making trips to the Pork Sandwhich guy.
As for 2007, why not start planning now?
Hell, we were up on the hill from you guys making lists of stuff we forgot to do THIS year so we can have them NEXT year. Matter of fact, we alread know what hotel we're staying at :)
I didn't have much time to take many pics so I only have about 44 pictures. Here are some:
