But the paint is done, and just about all of the trim is back on. Yup, that's a Ford wheel. :flip: Not to worry, I've got the other chevy wheel waiting to get painted and for the last hubcap.

How'd you ever fit a Ford wheel on that thing? I thought Fords and Chevs had a different bolt pattern???
That's what I thought too, but it came from a later model F-150.
I'll clear coat this spring when I put real paint down on all good panels. Needs a drivers door and passenger fender.
It's finally done, for now. I've been driving it for four days now, and it's a completely different kind of monster now, with the 383. :D It's also nice to be able to drive it all week and only fill the tank once.

My buddy just started to work on his '74 4x4. We got it down to the chasie last weekend. It's an alberta truck but it's been on the rock for a while now so there is some rust. Rocker is gone on the driver's side and some small rust on the fenders. Chasie is solid though. He hopes to have it completed by spring.
This is the same guy who has the 85 monte carlo with a 455. Knows she can't go. :)
To tell you the truth, I like the Ford wheel on it. It would look pretty good if you could get a full set of those.
Can she lay down rubber? I suuuure hope so.
Does the exhaust sound and smell different? (I know it probably smells different, I used to run a propane forklift... stay in the warehouse too long and you get nauseous.)
Thanks guys. It took a while, and I'm amazed it came out as good as it did, using spray paint.
She should deffinately lay down rubber. That 383 is one torquey SOB. It's got high compression pistons, (didn't do a comp test, so I'm not sure how much yet), and the timing is set to +12. you can pull off +14 with such high octane. This is to counter the loss of power felt when you switch to propane. The timing gives it more jam AND increases fuel economy. Wild. I don't know why I didn't do this a LONG time ago. It's like I'm getting 61% more km to the dollar, even though I switched from 305 to 383. 4.1mk/$ to 6.7km/$
Anyway, I'd test out the tire burnination factor, but it's got a 19 year old timex posi. Takes a likin and starts a tickin. :grinno: The weakest link in the Chevy C10 is the timex posi. Come spring, I'll get a smoke show on camera for you, and if I blow the rear, oh well. I'll be driving the TC a little earlier then. :D And then I have an excuse to buy a taller/stronger rear. (it shifts into 3rd at 60kph as is [40mph]) I really need a tach so I can see how much it screams at 100. :p
The exhaust sounds VERY different. I mean I went from a 305 with a vaccum leak and a blown ler to a 383 with full true duals. What do you think? ;) As for smell, yeah, it stinks, but only if you're down wind. It's ilegal to park propane powered vehicles inside anyway, so I have no worry about that. (yeah, including forklifts, even though everyone does it)
The Chevy 305 is an abomination! Your addition of 78 cubes with better economy AND power just proves it even more so. She looks real good. The one thing I didn't like about the photo was that SNOW! BRRRR. Weather man says its coming here tomorrow or the next day. I don't like the weather man he is bad! :disappoin

I hear you. It dropped 23degrees in one day. But now it's back up to about -3 from the -20's, so not too bad. I mean, it is December.
Thanks for the compliments. One of the clubs I run with in the city are an afiliate of V8less, so you can imagine there's a lot of rice. When I show them these pics, every third word is 'mullett', so it's a nice surprise to get positive remarks on my Chevy on a Ford board. :D
As for the 305, I couldn't agree with you more. It's kind of like Chevy's version of Ford's 3.8. A complete embarasp00get to the marque, that's in far too many vehicles. (speaking as an ex Ford 3.8 owner) It actually left me pretty disapointed for that being my first V8, as the 3.8 was my first V6, and left me JUST as disapointed. Amazing that, up until now, Fourbangers were the fastest engine's I've ever owned, despite the motors I had with well over twice the displacement.
But that 's all behind me. :flip: I know now of at least two engines never to buy again. (I ended up giving the 305 away :p )

True. Even with the vaccum leak, it ran like a top. A powerless top that sucked back fuel, but it never missed a beat. It's still the last 305 I'll own though.
