I've made some aluminum pieces for my car, here they are. you can also see how the black interior paint has worn off  :disappoin

You could try calling the interior guy from Pimp My Ride. :giggle:  But seriously you could try painting some of the stuff. I know that there are some really good interior paints out there.

yeah I'm sure Xzibit could put some nasty paint, wheels, and useless  like tvs in it :p and I did paint everything, the interior was shiznit-brown when i got it, now it's all black. I was referring to the fkd-up door panels, as you can see the arm rests have seen better days

When my dad bought the cat, there wasnt a complete door panel (they were all cracked) and the interior roof was inexistent. Try to find the pieces here its nearly impossible. But my mother and i build totally the new parts (was red, now is black). We dont know nothing about car interiors, but we get a decent result. I like the custom aluminium interiors in this car.

same though with how much the smallest flaws bug me (mainly in things I make or design), I'd have to take it some place to get it all laser cut. There goes the cost - may as well do something to the aluminum surface also.  :wtf:

yeah, i basically had to hand-file the square parts after punching them as round holes. how do you think round holes would look for the window/seat switches?

the center console and door lock switch plates are a very light gague aluminum. you can strip the paint off and polish them. you have to be careful when stripping the paint though.

I made mine out of .040" clear anodized aluminum. I have access to all kinds of aluminum, stainless steel, jet-kote and galvanized steel, as well as brass and copper (wouldn't use that in a car tho...) I think I'm going to make a "skin" out of 26 or 24ga  jet-kote for my engine compartment, so I won't have to fill and sand etc. the holes that are there. too bad I'm quitting my job there soon :(

Unless the paint is  near falling off, like it was on my dark blue Bird:

Don't know how much I'll have to worry about scratching with the clearcoat on that. I put it on as thick as I could.

When I converted my car to dual power the only dual power switch panel I could find had a lot of paint chipped off, and the clear coat had discolored green where the paint remained. I got some really thin modeling tape from a hobby shop and masked over the text and all the little white lines, and spray painted the panel first with gloss black and then with matte clear coat (after sing off *all* of the original clear coat so the surface would be flat). The result was far better than I had imagined; the panel essentially looks stock (though it's not as perfectly flat as a brand-new panel would be, but that's from dents it must have gotten over time)
