Title: Window Seals HELP NEEDED!
Post by: sscobrapride on February 03, 2006, 12:31:15 AM
Anyone looking to get windows seals made for the 83-86's needs to send an email to info@fairchildind.com to show interest.  The more interest we get the more likely these will get made.  I'm sure everyone will agree that the day resto parts are easy to get for these cars is the day most of these cars go from great condition to mint condition.  Who knows, maybe we could get some of those seatbelt covers remanufactured, along with various other soft parts as well.  I hope that everyone interested or atleast willing to help, will use this to their advantage.  SO EMAIL NOW,Email Now, email now, eMaIl NoW!!!!

I'm sure if we can make the 83-86 a profitable venture for them, then we might be able to get the 87-88.

That...I don't know...that had to have been one funky, complex process to make the 1987-88 trim. I have never figured out how the rubber could be made separate from the metal. It had to have been one process to combine both. That will be the downfall of trying to get them remade. The 1983-86 seals were much more traditional in that respect. Newer processes to make parts are usually good things...except if you have an old-school car, apparently. Then it gets infinitely more challenging. I'd love to see it, and would be an advocate for it, but I'm also grounded in reality and am not getting my hopes up.

I am trying mainly to get the83-86 seals, but Ihave sent them 87-88 seals also. They would do both if the interest is there. I'm sure the 87-88s would not be inexpensive but there is not many other options.

E-mail sent.
Are we talking about the gaskets and the piece that presses against the window on the outside?  The one that is all cracked up and falling apart.  Jason.

As soon of you may already know, this saddens me.

Thank you all for your inquiries and interest regarding window channels and belt line seals for the 1983 to 1986 Ford Thunderbird.  Our Research and Development Department did research these parts and look into the tooling expenses for producing these parts.  Unfortunately, the profiles are too different than anything else we manufacture. In order to justify the cost, we would need someone to make a commitment to purchase 500-1000 pieces of these products.  Because the year range is so small, it just does not seem likely to happen.

We will keep all your inquiries on file and if by some chance we make this part, we will let you know.  Thanks again.

Best Regards,
