Title: Need to find a spoiler
Post by: 85turbotbird on February 02, 2006, 09:29:46 AM
Looking to see if I can buy a spoiler for the '85 tbird.  The guy I bought the car from did some shoddy work to the car.  It looks like, from the spoiler I currently have he used some very heavy grit sandpaper to try to sand the spoiler, for what reasons?  You got me!It just looks worse and I'd like to find a newer 1, or 1 in better shape then trying to have the current 1 I have bondo'd up and painted when the girl gets painted.

It'll fit the '85 without any overhang?

fits the decklid like it was made for it. It overhangs the rear like it would on a stang.

I'm going to have to take a photo of the 1 I have.  I like how it looks.

I know it sounds crazy, but a spoiler from a 3 series beamer fits perfectly. :D I was given one (off an 89 M3) and after a beer or twelve, I got brave and put it on my '88. It looks pretty nice too, subtle and destinctive. It will look like it came from the factory as soon as I find some material to make a thinner gasket for it. When I put it on, all I had to seal the holes in the deck lid was some 1/8" rubber sheet. As soon as I can lay my hands on some 1/16" rubber, it will look much better.

only my opinion, but the 83-86 looks pretty sweet with a adjustable rear spoiler, not wing, like on nascar. like 4-5" tall adjustable from like 70-45* and functional to.  only down side is you gotta make it.
