..in a very long time.:D Going to look at this SHO tommorrow. was looking to get a fwd, for the snow, and found this. Will also be my 1st fwd, opinions, comments welcome.:D By the way, it is a rust free car from nebraska.;) (92 SHO, 5spd.)
Not for long! v
It looks nice. That body style SHO is the best looking IMO. Very nice.
SHOs are sleds in the snow, at least my buddys 89 was. it realy sucked in the snow. at least think about getting some snow tires....should make for a sweet DD though....
Is that the one with the Yamaha engine in it or the py v8?
i think the V8 started around 96-97 with the body change
3.0l V6. :D
lol, gotta be better than my 20th, thing slides all over the road.:yuck:
Dude the Special Edition is all over the road, with the 235's and lsd, tap the gas and the thing does a dounut
LOL, tell me about it, I have 3.55 trac loc in it and you can not touch the gas.:nono: You just have to just glide along, picking up speed gradually, both hands gripping the wheel...lol.:yuck: I'm gonna try something different, and drive the Cougars when it's nice out. Here's a pic of the SHO's engine compartment.:tg:
That's really clean. They must have taken good care of it. Looks like a good buy to me.
me wants one of those. nice find. :) hey if your interested, i'm getting rid of my snow tires in mid-feb. going 5-lug. they make a world of difference.
Yea, I might be interested, thanks.
actually a buddy of mine just wrapped his around a telophone pole in the snow...although he has way less driving experience than you, it goes to show you what is possible. (then again, what isn't possible?)
Love the engines....hate the platform they chose for them....
I love the taurus platform. much better than any GM sedan of that era, or style. Our family has been through Bonnevilles, LeSabres, Intrepids, Regals, Cutlass's, etc (all FWD). But best car hands down was the 1993 Sable. Black on tan - good looking car with some bizzarre things - but great, solid, good handling platform. The only other one that came close was an Olds Intrigue (3.5 Shortstar). All the others were soggy boats, worthless and entirely unrewarding.
I like them so much I was thinking about picking up a regular old taurus sedan for communting (the truck gets old.)
Props on the SHO. I remember when a neighbor brought one home (first year for 2nd gen, so 1992 I guess?) My dad and I fell in love instantly. It looked just like yours. Awesome car.
The taurus is awsome, we have a 96 with the 24v duratech, it will move along nicely.
Well, went and looked at th sho. It is indeed as nice as the guy said it was, left a deposit and will pick it up next weekend!! :ies: :ies:
oh yeah, speaking over newer ones, my grandmother has a 97 (or so, turtle body style) with a regular 3.0. Blue on Blue - can you believe they were still doing that in the late 90s? It only has 30K so I cant testify to its reliability. And on top of that, my cousin just bought an 02 Taurus.
I dont think the newer ones (frog/ turtle body style and up) have as much character as the 86-95's. Just looking at them makes me want beat the out of it on gravel & dirt backroads.
Our 96 has every option that a Taurus can have, except the built in car phone. Couldn't use it now anyway. Its got serious character. Oh plus its a wagon. Mucho nico. Dark green with Dark green leather.
