are the 89 mustang alternators and alternator brackets the same as the alternators and brackets on an 87 cougar 5.0? need to know before i go and cut up my wiring harness to make this lincoln alternator work.

No...they are slightly different to accept the stock 75-amp alternator. You can easily cut your bracket to accept it though. Dremel tool, chisel and hammer, what have you.
