After waiting forever, they finally came. They're goin on in the spring but just wanted to get opinions on them.

They're quick pics, I'll try to get better ones later. Here are the adapators that I got with them but I thought they were going to drill 5 lug and have the adaptors from 4-5 lug but the wheels are drilled 4 lug and it seems like they are the right pattern. It seems the adaptors are drilled to the same pattern too which is weird, so it would be kind of pointless for me to have them so I'll probably return them but after I make sure I don't need them. The adaptors fit into the wheels and I took the adaptors and put them up to the cougar lug to lug and they matched up so I probably won't need them. This is what the adaptors look like. You put them on and secure them with the normal lug nuts and then put the wheels on them and secure the wheels with other lug nuts. I told some people I'd post the adaptors, they seem like they'd be really secure so if anyone is interested they do make 4-5 lug adaptors. Their site again is:

So what do you guys think?
Too much "bling" for my taste, but nonetheless a real nice set of rims and tires that are somthing different and unique on a fox cougar.:D
the adapter thing has me interrested. does anybody know how safe they are?
I Like, I Like! Can't wait to see them on ur cougar. Something unique is always a plus! (sometimes)
bleh...too much chrome...
personnaly i think they are Horrid But if that is your taste then Good for you. Show some pics when you get them on. Im curious to how well or not they will look on the car.
hmmmm, I find those adapters interesting, very interesting indeed. U can never go wrong with chrome in my opinion.
Before I make a final decision I need to see them on the car.
:iagree:
*meh* That's my opinion
Well...you did ask...
too much bling for me. not big on fancy wheels on fox tbirds and cougars, tends to look out of place/tacky on them. as specially front wheel drive rims.....look more like hubcaps than rims being that they arent typically deep at all.
the adaptors look more like spacers. all they are gonna do is set the wheels out further from the center of the car.
not trying too bust your balls. hope they look sweet man, im sure they were expensive.
They might be a little too much for my taste, but I have seen much much worse. I'll tell you for sure when I see them on the car. I am curious to see another fox with 18s. The only other one I recall is that black '85 I think it was. I thought 18s looked good on it, and probably the upper limit as far as looks and almost certainly the upper limit as far as ease of fit.
What is the offset on those wheels?
They look like FWD wheels, to be honest. Make sure you test fit them for clearance, especially in the front.
will have to see them on the car.
You bunch of minimalists.:D ............. I agree completely.:tg:
It's nice to see something other than standard 5-spokes, though.
nag actually I dont think they will look that bad. First look I didnt like em, but I bet they look fine on the car.
Me Likey
Aren't those just spacers? Not adapters?
They are a little blingy for shizzle, but thats what make us individuals. Its your car, so drive it and love it.
I prefer to make my car look like a race car or hot rod and not a cruiser. Those are cruiser wheels to me. Have to seethem on the car for an overall look with everything else you have done to the car.
I think I'll hold my judgement till I see 'em on his car, and while I don't like a lot of chrome, something different than Cobra R's and stuff is cool. (not that I'd mind very much a set of cobra R's on my Fox...)
I'm bettin' they'll look kick-ass
if those spacers adapt anything all i could think of is the hub. other than that all they are gonna do is put the wheels out further.
Looks like there's mixed opinions on them. Well it was warmer today so I threw one on and took some pics. I wanted to do one side but the lugs in the rear were frozen, couldnt get them to move. Well here are some shots. I needed to use the adpator because the center cap couldn't fit on with the hub.

Looks good on your car :p. May look even better if you painted the calipers and the hub part of the rotor ;) .
Give those brakes a clean up, and I'd say you have a winner. Those wheels would look horrible on my car, but with all the Chrome on your car, it actually works.
cool, they look better than i thought they would. the body kit and chrome on your car makes the wheels work. still, not my favorite look for these cars. they could use alot ore rubber arount them though, they look a little anemic under there.
Looks good!
Any cross drilled or slotted rotors in the future.
look 100% better on the car than off
Those look badass with your body kit! Now you just need to upgrade the brake to fill in the empty space and it'll finish off the look.
I like them alot. Great choice.
I was going to be nice and say nothing at all but after seeing them mounted on the car.

Wow I'm quite suprised at how good they look. Didnt think they would look right at first, but withe the blackouts, gfx kit, and that color its really looking sharp!
I agree with 87tbird dont like the whole bling scene but i do want to get something different from these boring Turbines.
not bad at all i like them a lot better than same ol' cobras
Because of the chrome on the car and the body kit, I have to say that the wheels fit the overall look.
:iagree:
If you were looking for that low profile tire style, you should have upped the wheel size an inch or two. I'd say more rubber around there would fix it as well.
I like them! Like others have said, now you need to upgrade the brakes and get some bigger rotors to fill those big ol' wheels. Painting the calipers wouldn't be a bad idea either. I really like your car though. Always have since I first saw it.
Oh ! Me likey. Willing to tell what those would set a guy back? More than just pocket change I know.
The tires he has on there look to be 225/40R18 they are about 1/2in shorter total so if he went with the same size that came on the cars the tire would only be about 1/4in further up in the wheel well.
225/40R18=25.08
225/60R15=25.62
Plus any bigger and the thing would never stop becasue of all the rolling weight.
According to: http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm (http://"http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm")
This is what I get:
If you want to run 18-inch wheels:
- For 35-series tires, you will want a tire that is 285 mm wide
- For 40-series tires, you will want a tire that is 249 mm wide
- For 45-series tires, you will want a tire that is 222 mm wide
- For 50-series tires, you will want a tire that is 199 mm wide
- For 55-series tires, you will want a tire that is 181 mm wide
- For 60-series tires, you will want a tire that is 166 mm wide
- For 65-series tires, you will want a tire that is 153 mm wide
- For 70-series tires, you will want a tire that is 142 mm wide
- For 75-series tires, you will want a tire that is 133 mm wide
- For 80-series tires, you will want a tire that is 125 mm wide
- For 85-series tires, you will want a tire that is 117 mm wide
- For 90-series tires, you will want a tire that is 111 mm wide
The only size I see that is commonly made is 285/35/18 and is usually used on Mercedes
The above was based off of stock 14" size. If I put in stock 15" size, the chart changes as follows:
If you want to run 18-inch wheels:
- For 35-series tires, you will want a tire that is 277 mm wide
- For 40-series tires, you will want a tire that is 242 mm wide
- For 45-series tires, you will want a tire that is 215 mm wide
- For 50-series tires, you will want a tire that is 194 mm wide
- For 55-series tires, you will want a tire that is 176 mm wide
- For 60-series tires, you will want a tire that is 162 mm wide
- For 65-series tires, you will want a tire that is 149 mm wide
- For 70-series tires, you will want a tire that is 138 mm wide
- For 75-series tires, you will want a tire that is 129 mm wide
- For 80-series tires, you will want a tire that is 121 mm wide
- For 85-series tires, you will want a tire that is 114 mm wide
- For 90-series tires, you will want a tire that is 108 mm wide
So you could run a 215/45/18
If I average the two it looks like a 245/40/18 would be a nice fit.
All this is just my speculation, so take it with a grain (or two) of salt.
According to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html (http://"http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html")
215/45/18, 245/40/18, & 285/35/18 are all within 1% difference in tire rotation/mile.
Hopefully this was of some use.
I didnt care for the wheels at all at first. But now that I have seen one they do look great on the car. Great wheel and tire combo, tire sidewall isnt to big to where it looks like its swallowing the wheel and its not too small to where it doesnt look like you even got a tire. What size tires did you go with? I also agree on cleaning up and painting the calipers though along with some nicer rotors. Drop her a lil bit and youll have a great eye catcher.
I think they look sweet. I'd repaint your inner fenderwells with a good dose of black.
I ditto the above two posts.
looks great.
clean up in the wheel well/brakes
lower an inch.
better looking than I thought it would, it does work with the over all theme of your car. a bit chrome, but not too bling.
Off the car I wasn't sure about them... Actually leaning towards not liking them. But seeing the one on the car has totally changed my mind. I think they're bad ass! Looks great!
Looks like you could use some camber plates though. Your camber actually looks positive in the picture.
You know what I like about 'em the most... their different than the same 'ol same 'ol! Lookin' good there man! :D
Thanks for the comments and compliments guys, thats what I was really looking for. The tires are 225 40 18 and for the whole package I paid an arm and a leg for but I think because they were specially drilled and the tires were specially made. I was looking at that particular name brand tire after I got them because I had never heard of them before and they make a 225 40 18 for a 9" wheel and these are 7.5". I wanted wider but this was the wheel that I wanted and to get wider, I would have had to get 20s and I didnt want to get 20s. I was thinkin of a brake upgrade but it probably wont happen until I get the tc rear all cleaned up and swapped in and then I'll do the upgrade all around so for now I'll just clean them up a bit. They only look the way they do because the car has been sitting for a little while because after the fuel pump went, I've been having some little problems here and there with it that we are working out gradually when my mechanic and I both have the free time and when it's warm enough. I have other little things I need to finish before its complete anyway for example the chrome in the body molding, I did a couple pieces but haven't really had the time to finish. I'll look into the wheel well, it might just be dirty, I haven't washed the car in a while because it was gettin the kit on and then went in for paint and hasn't really been in need of a cleaning because it's been covered. Also after all the bugs are worked out, I plan on cold air intake, magnum powers inlet plenum, 85 mm throttle body, intercooler fan, and the raised sc top to start with. I'll keep you all updated and post pics as I go along. Thanks again for your feedback.
I love it man, love the car too.
I knew it all along... give the guy his chance before you slit his throat!
Sorry...I'm still not a fan of the wheels.
A big thumbs-up on the SC swap though.
I think I like the look for those on your car.. definitely not for me, where did you get your body kit?
I got the body kit at
http://www.aeromotive-inc.com/products.php?cat=3&reset=1&make=25&model=121&year= 1988 (http://"http://www.aeromotive-inc.com/products.php?cat=3&reset=1&make=25&model=121&year=1988").
It's the second one on that page although it's a terrible picture of it. There are other sites that have the kit including wickedbodies.net. The company that I dealt with though would not ship to a residential address, they only deal with automotive places. Wickedbodies might be different but I dunno. The kit that I got is for an 88 bird.
do you have any more pics of the kit? thanks

ok so i was very iffy but now that they are on the car i must say i like them very much indeed... not what i expected..
You happen to have one of the few colors that chrome actually looks good on. The others would be black and that forest green that SHO's come in. Not to crazy about the design but they do look better on the car than off.
Looks awsome on the car man, but whats with the reflection of a blue IROC in the driveway?!?! Chevy's dont deserve to be parked with a cougar. LOL J/K :D maybe.
You should see our driveway/parking lot its loaded with chevys. When full with everyone who lives here we have:
1988 Mercury Cougar
1988 Chevrolet Blazer K5
1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS convertible
1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34
2004 Chevrolet Blazer
2004 Chevrolet Tahoe
2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1
2005 Chevrolet Silverado Z71
But right now take away the stang cuz its garaged and add a Chevrolet S10 and another 95ish Monte because my brother went on a snow boarding trip and his friends all met here and left their cars here. So the cougar is surrounded.
thank you for the extra picks I think this is the kit I want for my car.
Is that new chrome stripping? Or original? Can we even get new chrome trim stripping?
The bumpers have a new strip in them. The rest of the molding, the body shop couldn't get the stipping out so I bought this chrome sticky paper from pep boys and I'm putting it right over the current stripping. I think it's coming out pretty good, but its takes some patience cuz it's pretty sticky and you have to cut it to fit. I got the stripping for the bumpers from aerobird motorsports and he gave me enough for the whole car but I just used it for the bumpers.
looks good bro, btw Happy Birthday
hey thanks alot man. It was a good night, had two playoff games to watch and a lot of beers to drink. Little disappointed the pats aint in it but hey shiznit happens but i had a good night noneltheless. Had to call an early night with 6 hours of classes tomorrow but that didnt stop me, had to celebrate anyway.
