i gained alot of extra weight this last year with the loss of a good riding season (mtbiking) and working, dealing with moving, getting married and preparing for the arrival of our second baby. it realy threw me off and ive been in a weird funk since then. its too cold too ride. i hate running. i refuse too join another gym. i dont have alot of free time. i can cut down on how much i eat but its not all that likely ill actually change what i eat all that much. its never been a problem for me. that said, what the hell can i do too drop 30 to 40 LBS by may ish. i realy feel like !
liposuction??? awww who cares welcome to the fat guy club just enjoy it
It doesn't sound like you are open to anything other than what got you there in the first place.
Can you tolerate grapefruit for two weeks?
How about tomatoes by themselves?
If so, I have a plan that will shave off about 17 pounds in two weeks.
Then you watch what you eat for another two weeks or so, then do it again. You will have dropped over thirty pounds without stepping on a treadmill.
It's probably not the healthiest approach but if you don't do it all the time, you should be ok.
How old are you?
I could stand to lose a few myself from the holiday season. Maybe we can start a thread where everyone posts their current weight, and where they want to be and we can all e-support each other.
yeah, i realy made myself sound lazy...lol the truth is, spring to fall im pretty active. i hike, swim and mtbike whenever i can. i usually pick up 10 lbs in the winter but it goes away after i start riding again. i need too lose most of the extra weight i have just too ride. my bike is dialed in for 190lb rider. its going too be harder this year that i now have 2 kids. (heh, i gained more weight durring my wifes pregnancy than she did throughout the entire thing.) likely ill take them one at a time hiking with the hike pack i have. my dh bike is being revamped a little right alongside my car for spring. should be able too get some good local rideing in as well as a few weekends at the resorts. i have a big problem running though. it kills my shins. gyms are a rip off around here. most of them are pretty much chck full of muscle guys.
this week im gonna try to stick with drinking just water. stay away from the milk, soda and if i can the friggin energy drinks im hooked on (love monster energy). i realy dont know how likely that is though. im also gonna try too keep a better sleep schedule as well as not eating too late at night.
i think its a good idea, maybe a "late new years resolution" thread.
im 5'10 1/2" and i need too get back down too 180-185, currently im about 221. a 36 is starting too get tight on me. id like too get back into a loose 32. it realy sucks, im tired all the time, my attitude sucks, im getting lazy, cranky, crabby, enthusiasm for chit is nada, self esteem sucks. id never take my shirt off in public now. this is the worst ive felt physically ever in my life. its got too be the weight gain.
I go anywhere from 245 to as low as 200 depending on what I eat. Work a graveyard shift, I lost alot of weight cause the only thing I can eat after work is the breakfast menu, unless I want to make something at home. Also, drink lots of water. The more water you drink, the fuller you feel and the less you eat. Also water is good for you.
Ps, I am almost 19, 6'4ish tall and I wear 38's, so I dont think you guys are doing too bad.
Stop drinking energy drinks. They are very bad for you.
Not only are they full of sugar, which can lead to weight gain, but they can actually make you crash and feel terrible.
Hell, they're even bad for your teeth... much worse than soda.
Don't do anything too drastic to lose weight. If you try to starve yourself for a few days, you're actually doing more harm than good. That will slow your metabolism down, only to make you put on more weight when you start eating again.
I'm sure most of this is common knowledge, but I think I should post it anyway.
Drink lots of water and substitute fat-free skim for your normal milk (you get used to it).
The most important thing is to stay active. Take a walk every night or morning and keep a positive attitude.
Of course, this is just my outlook on it. You'll get different answers from every person you ask. ;)
I'm about 6' 3" at right around 240 lbs. I'm not really 'fat', but I'm built big.
Activity is the key. Eating better can help, but unless you get your metabolism up you're really not doing much good.
I'm 5'11" and hovering about 180-185#. I was 175# before the knee surgery and heading back down to 170# (which is my target weight). I don't really look like I weigh as much as I do though.
My knee is at about 90% and when the weather behaves again I'll be running more regularly and well as putting in more time on the bike. Right now it's time on the stationary trainer, lifting (at home) and an occasional run when the weather is tolerable. I'll get back to what I was before screwing up my knee.
It really comes down to how important it is to you. You can always find time to do things you want to do. I've been active since I was 7 (37 now) ..so it's hard for me to NOT do anything.
Moderation!! None of us gained the weight in four months. It's unhealthy to try to loose it that fast. Just heading in the right direction will help a lot with the way you feel.
I got two viruses in a row, the first two weekends of 2006. Lost 14lbs. :tg:
Seriously, though, the key is in how you eat. Eat more often, and smaller portions, and not after 8 pm. You don't eat any less, but your body has a chance to digest the food properly. Less meat, more veggies.;)
water, walking, and NO SODA OR ENERGY DRINKS.
i quit pop once and lost 17 lbs in two week, and just ate a little better (not even that much better just added a bit of veggies in place of potatoes).
I need to lose also. just bumped over 200 and i am 5'7" with a frame of a bird. I weight more than my dad who is 6'1". just hard to stop caffine and the habit of eating so much.
also, try to get a breakfast in. i am horrible about this cause I rather sleep 15 more minutes, but that will get your matabelism going early and help maintian your weight and energy with resorting to caffine.
*No soda.
*NO fast food.
*No potato chips.
*No TV (gets you out more, and its all anyway!)
*change to skim or at least 1%milk.
*If you want to munch on something I like plain toast.
*WALK! park you car in the farthest corner of the the mall parking lot, its good for you and good for your car.
*If your just grabbing a few things from the store use a basket instead of a cart.
*Just go for a walk, even if you dont feel like it or are tired, if you exercise often you wont be as lazy.
Its hard to get active in the winter months but every bit helps, I lost 100# fall/winter 2003-4 and another 30# or so since then and havnt gained anything back.
I still eat fast food and pen 15e etc. but its all in moderation, I used to live on pen 15e but once you give it up for a while you get used to it.
20 years old, 6'2", 205-210 lbs. Went from a size 42 to a 36 with a belt.
Main thing is too keep yourself occupied, if your bored and sitting around watching tv your more likely to eat . If your outside working on something or even just inside reading a book your better off.
Good Luck!
Also dont bother with those 'lose weight fast' or fad diets, theyre all BS and for the most part harmful to your body.
If you REALLY want to lose weight you have to commit to it, its not something you can just take care of in a month or two, alot of people dont understand your gong to have to make some life changes.
It is really hard to lose that much weight simply by cutting back on bad foods. Over the last 8 months I have lost olmost 70pounds. Started at 220 in May, and weight about 155 now. How?
5 days a week at the gym. 30 mins per day cardio, 30 mins weight training. I've stuck with it since. I'm at the point now that I like working out, and hate missing a day. Figuring out how many calories a day you need helps too. Back then I required 3000 to stay the same weight. I cut down to 1500 a day, which probably helped alot.
Uh oh, did I just mention calorie counting on a car forum? Uh...I mean.....gasoline....yeah...fire!
2 summers ago i lost 20# in a week. i dont recomend what i did though, i spent a week in a comma with my only food coming through a feeding tube. not a fun diet plan and i gained the weight back plus some after about 3 days out.
we.....tried the influenza diet.....cant say i recomend it....
:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:
Man I missed this thread the first time around.
And you all forgot a very cruciel part. Take a multivitamin. In late october I weighed 210, I'm 5'11" built healthy. with just minimal walking on the treadmill and drinking water and not drinking pop....I weigh 180 now. size 36 to a 32.
But it make sure you are getting your vitamins! It works, I'm surprised it hasn't been some kinda fad diet.
But does anyone have tips for loosing that gut? Mine is hanging on for dear life.
only one thing will cut a gutthat doesn't go away. running. running and more situps then ever cared or wanted to do. but more running than anything.
well im 6'2" 300 lbs and i eat decent i have fruit for breackfast some more with lunch and hardly eat dinner. but also ive droped alot of fat and put on mucle from lifting a few 100 lbs of steel all day long. or sweeping my life away lol.
meh, join marching band over the summer... any you too can go from 260 to 184
Dont eat much, just eat when ya have to..dont munch and dont drink so much pop

Say goodbye to beer. No, seriously. That is one evil beverage. Too bad it tastes so good.
well we got one 300 but ill break it, 350 beeyotches, after wrestling at 250 bout 2 years ago, it was like one day i woke up and BAM 350, I guess thats what i get for not watching what I eat. i was actually at the gym today, first time in 3 months, plan on getting back down to 250, but at the moment im stronger than i ever was, soon as i cut 50 ill be happy, and meaner than i ever was
Yep, work graveyard shifts for awhile. It helps if you get sick, too :giggle: . I lost 30 pounds 'cause I never really eat a full meal, just a ton of little snacks here and there. In that time I also was sick for a month or so. I think if you eat less more often it will make a big difference. It used to be I'd have 3 meals a day, decent proportions. Now I'm down to maybe 1 real meal with the rest being snacks whenever I get a little hungry.
Oh, and quit your bitching! :giggle:
I used to be right up there with the heavy weights, now I'm wasting away! I'm 6'1" and I went from 312 to 280. 38" w/ belt. Oh, the whole cutting out the pop really works.
I think it's more or less the fact that I'm always eating. Corn bred and corn fed is the idea around here. At 6,1 I aint small, but alot of my weight has to do with the fact that I'm muscle bound. To the point I can't swing a golf club full swing. Doesn't bother me much, just the fact that I've got a huge gut me off.
, I just wan't my gut to go away. I mean you guys make me feal small and tiny. I'm gona start running on that tred mill, weather I like it or not.
Oh and
My 1000th Post!!!
:cheers::drink::dunce::cheers::headbang::ies:
I'm on this new diet that my friend from work went on. In one year he lost 150lbs.
NO POP AT ALL
NO WHITE BREAD
NO FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (just about everything good has this in it)
NO FRIED FOODS
Drink 64oz of water a day
And do not eat after 6pm. Breakfast and lunch are your big meals, supper is your small meal. Kind of backwards to how we eat in america.
I also take 2 tablespoons of apple cidar vinegar
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 fish body pill
1 herb pill
1 daily vitamin NO IRON
All bought at GNC
So far this year (this month) I went from 246 now I'm at 225. With exercise once a week. And believe its working. And I'm hardly trying. I can't drink a pop anymore, i take a sip and the taste turns me off from it. I hope to get down to 200 by CJ. If I can be 5'10 200lbs it'll be a lot better ten 5'10 250. GL to everyone else.
Steve you didn't look like you weighed that much! Good luck to you. I can see us all now (at CJ06) man i lost 20lbs, I lost 30lbs, I lost 50lbs!
Oh and why the fish body pill and coconut oil.
Psshh, I hover between 200 and 213. I'm about 6' maybe just under, haven't checked in a while lol. Wear 32-36 jeans but it's my stomach that really needs work. That and the spare tire. I'm a pen 15e addict (Coca-Cola not the other kind) and I really don't see myself giving that up.
I did get down to 185 which was nice but that was after being very sick for a week.
I think my job has a good hand in it as I sit on my ass for 12 hours. It takes absolutely no energy to do this job.
I do a ton of walking at school. Most of campus oddly is uphill no matter which way I walk so I'm sure I get a few miles a day in there. My legs are the strongest they've ever been thanks to that.
I don't have time to hit a gym or anything and I usually get home late enough to eat and go to bed, which isn't good either.
I actually tend to lose weight during winter because I'm outside shoveling snow so much but we haven't had any this year. Well that and I haven't gotten stuck in my driveway with the front wheel drive like I did the cougar so shoveling isn't as important.
Hopefully things will improve when the weather gets warmer and I do more things outside.
Watchhing your fat and carb intake is more important than overall calories. Don't cut them out completely but, do cut back on them. If you ditch carbs and fat altogether for a period of time you will lose weight. The only problem is when you introduce them back into your diet you will most likely put the spare tire back on.
You can get carbs from fruits and veggies. STAY AWAY FROM WHITE BREAD AND POTATOES for a month and find an activity you like and will stick with as others have said.
I had jaw surgery 2 days before Christmas. I went from 190 to 172 in a week. So if you want to lose about 20 pounds, have your jaw wired shut. I'm on my 6th week of soups, jello, and milkshakes! Woohoo! (Can't say I recommend this diet)
In fact I can't wait to eat some steak and gain those pounds back.
Yea, no joke, too bad I'm on a high calorie high protein diet; I'm 6' and only weigh 130 on a good day, beer is my friend. LOL :drink:
EDIT: Also I should mention I have a genetic disorder affecting my respiritory, digestive, and immune systems known as cystic fibrosis.
i know how ya feel, iv had so much to do i havent been to the gym in almost a year now, and after haveing gone every day for 4 years, over 2hrs a day i can realy feel it. getting winded running across the street, not being able to pick up stuff i used to. and iv noticed major muscle loss to. i gots to get my ass in gear.
you guys make me feel like a midget. I'm 5'8" and 160lbs. I've been that way since I was 14 (almost 7 years!) and I haven't gained or droped weight since then. I do run a little and lift stuff at work but that's about it. I guess I'm just lucky.
I worked in Auto shops for five years after high school. I was at a constant 220 lbs. standing 5'9". I now have a desk job where I don't do but look at a computer screen for about 8 to 10 hours a day. In 3 years I have gone from 220 to 305. Wanna talk about felling like .
I know some of this is my fault for not getting off my lazy ass on the weekends but the strees from my job just drains me.
wow i hear the feelin like part ....im about 6'1-6'4 (somewhere in there) and probly 330lbs and at 17 i know that is not heathy...
Just don't do what I did...
I decided I was being too lazy so I went back to gymnastics. The next week it's nice out for a day so I took my motorcycle out. Cold tires and sand in a turn cause me to crash the bike and mangle my knee. Knee starts to get better and I go back to gymnastics. Finally after 3 weeks I see a dr. and find out that my leg is broken, I may have torn some ligaments (should find out this week) and may need surgery.
So now I'm just stuck with a lot of pain and practically no options for excercise. Still no cast or anything but I may go argue they do something so I stop using my leg and give the thing a chance to heal. I don't know what I did but I really pissed it off within the past 2 days.
wow that really sux. hope you give em hell crystal:evilgrin: you know what they say explosives come in small packages;) :flame:
wholy chit dude.....now thats a tough chick that can go 3 weeks on a busted leg before giving in. man i hope it heals quick for you...
I weighed 130-135 lbs since about 7th grade. Back then I was one of the taller and bigger kids. That was also about the time I stopped growing...lol When I finished high school I weighed 130 lbs. When I finished Marine Corps boot camp I weighed 130 lbs. 6 years after I got out of the Marine Corps I weighed 135 lbs. One month after I quit smoking I started gaining weight slowly. Now several years later I find myself at 170 lbs and barely have the energy to get out of bed.
I like the idea of having a thread for those enterested in group weight loss motivation. I have been planning for months to get back into my exercise routine but always find an excuse to put it off another day. I owe it to myself and all the women I bring home on the weekends to get my body back into shape.
I plan to start my exercise routine as soon as my mother leaves on monday evening from her 2 week visit here. And that will be my last excuse for putting it off.
But will your like 5 feet tall,
Interesting that the support forum for the arthritic disease I have is also starting to discuss the possibility of group weight-loss motivational-type stuff at the same time you guys are. :p
In 1993 I was 156 lbs. (5' 9", think I've shrunk half an inch since then, too.. heh) Living with an Irish chick with a stereotypical Irish diet for a year and a half got me up to 211 lbs by mid-'95. More or less hovered there for a few years. Got sort of wrongly prescribed Paxil by my doctor at the time, and that put another 10-15 lbs. on me. Didn't stay on that stuff too long, maybe 6 months. Had a bout of really heavy drinking right after the hurricane in '04, that put the rest of the weight on me. Went from 156 to 240 within ten years.
Just gave up beer (probably for good, have an ulcer to deal with) last month and gave up soda a couple weeks ago, and I've already dropped 5 lbs. Chewed out the other members of the household last night to try to get the grocery shopping habits to improve, since being unemployed right now I can't just go get my own. They've been spending the same money for four people to eat that we used to spend for two people to eat, and at least half that was junk food. (my eating choices lately have often been wonderful choices like Doritos vs. ramen noodles, and the ramen noodles aggravate my ulcer) They supplemented the rest by often weekly visits to all of the above: Wendy's, Taco Bell, the local Chinese take-out place, and 1-2 deliveries a week from Hungry Howie's. Needless to say, it's been almost possible for me to lose weight on the dietary end up until my little tirade last night, which found me waking up today to a kitchen full of real food again. We'll probably pick up a second cheap fridge so those of us who want to diet can separate the real food from all the junk food bought by the one infernal member of the household who can eat near anything and still stay thin.
The exercise end is complicated. Everything begins and ends with the arthritic spinal disease. I won't get into all of it, but suffice to say even if I didn't have this extra weight to deal with, it would still be difficult to stick to exercising. (I could be 156 again and I would still be in significant pain for hours a day for 2-3 months in a row, for the average flareup.. the weight just makes it that much harder to deal with) I think it's best for me to start on the diet end and with light exercise. We'll see how things go this coming week.
And 5 feet long......
Well, today, Super Bowl Sunday, is my last day eating like a pig. Tomorrow, it's fiber in the morning, slimfast at lunch, and something healthy for dinner. Rinse, repeat. I'll keep this up until I've lost enough to feel comfortable in my own skin. I'm sure I'll have the ocassionaly treat, cause I'm still a sucker for mexican, but I'm determined ot stick to it. Doctor told me Friday that if I kept gaining weight, I'd likely be dead before 50. 350 at 17, not good, not good at all. Edit weighed in this morning at 344.
yah. i wouldn't be bad to add a section for weightloss posts. would give us a place to vent and admit our lapses. and also a place to post our progess and encourage each others good behavior.
crystal, good luck with that. knee's can be a life long thing, so take good care of it, and let it heal.
My mom and dad have gone apeshiznit about this stuff and are now only eating veggie/soy shiznit, which if it does actually drop a few pounds off me i might have to say with this tasteless stuff. last time i weighed myself i was 280 now im like 275.
you still need meat.. mmm bacon... can't give up bacon.
Yes i love red meat also but since my mother and father buy the grocries i dont have much say in the matter, and moving out is not an option as i am unemployed.
d for the occasibuttstuff weekend double cheeseburger with BACON..
I dont eat too bad, rarely eat red meat cuase it is exspensive. pop is my weakness. I drink too much of it. water is just sooo boring. need more flavor. I think my biggest issue is that I am too sedintary. I work on computers at work and go home and do the same thing. so I sit like 80% of the day. I need to get up and move more.
When I was the lead tech for Aport a couple of years ago, I gained a good bit. I sat all day and drank cream soda. A 2 liter a day. Mcdonalds or Wendys every day too.
One trick, give in to your cravings. If you drink half a bottle of pop a day your doing better! Cutting your intake of such shiznit will vastly improve your well being. Eat your goodies in moderation though! Most of the time if you stop to realize, only one bite of that snickers bar and you have satisfied your craving. So, wrap it up and save it for tomorrow. Same with pop, first sip tastes the best, and you could probably do without the rest. I'm sure that you all could only eat or drink half as much as you do right now. Where americans, we invented pen 15e and the Snickers bar! God forbid you go the rest of your life without them! But not everyday!
Oh and I loves me some good mexican food too ..... yummm....
Man its been hard but i have vastly cut my pop intake, jeez that is hard caffine is addictive. And you hit the nail on the head with the mexican food Claude god i love going over to my mexican friends house, his mother makes REAL mexican food but its very fattening, why does everything that tastes good have to be fatty.
