Anyone know is the 85 thunderbird with a 3.8 used the same transmission as a 92 3.8 cougar?

I believe there were tailshaft lubrication problems that were fixed sometime in 85 or 86 with the AOD. Other than that they should be the same. Shift lever may point in a differn't direction.
