OK, Here is the Official Model Car Thread. Post up FINISHED pics of your model. TC/TBird/Ford whatever car. As long as it's a car. Ready, set, GO!
:ttiwwp:
OK, I'll start. Here are some pics of my competition-level 1986 Ford Thunderbird Pro-Street. It started life as a Monogram "Red Hot" Pro-Street T-Bird kit (actually a very BAD reissue of the 83-86 Pro-Stockers with a ton of gaudy gold chrome). I cut the hood to fit the 14-71 Blower with fuel injection and carbon-fibre hat. The headlights have custom clear covers, the rear spoiler is a 87 TC kit one, and the fogged windows came from a parts car Pro-Stock T-Bird kit. I added windshield wipers, treaded tires, and 4-wheel disc brakes to make it a believable "Pro-Street". The interior has a fire extinguisher and a N2O set-up. The paint is 3-shades of a metallic Copper color from my airbrush (more orange in the middle, red on the sides). The only aftermarket piece is the distributor. About 75 hours in this project over a 14 month time frame.
Oh yeah, the radiator is out of a TC model as well, and here are 3 more pics.
Which leads me into it's "companion", my LSC Pro-Street. I dropped the "wimpy" 351 out in favor of the Shotgun Pro-Stock motor (with the original Dominator carbs on a low-rise intake this time) but kept an auto in it instead of the Lenco. Put on wheels from a Pro-Stock kit with treaded tires, glued the door panels inside, detailed to competition quality. I finished it in 50 hours over 5 weeks. Color is Gunmetal metallic with a Jet Black stripe out of a rattle-can.
sweet..
heres the few that are complete so far
that is one sharp model.
NICE models Sleeper! Here's a few more of the LSC...
Here's my Turbo Stang. I built it while half-way through with the 'Bird because I needed a break. Box-stock except the parts bin wheels/tires. Rattlecan red. I really enjoyed this model and thought it turned out nice for a 10 hour 3-day build.
PS: Sleeper, more pics of that '55! I like it:)
The "Finished" Collection and my 1/43 TC and one of my re-painted slot car TCs
Nice lookin models, guys :)
Here's mine...for some reason, all my good ones ended up being trucks. Also I haven't built a model since high school, I have boxes of half-finished projects in my basp00get. Someday, when I get the room to work on it again, I might get back into it.
First one-

This was my first all out, everything but the kitchen sink model that I did. Started out as a Monogram '78 (I think?) Chevy flareside 4x4 pickup kit. It's got a dual plug hemi in it that I got out of my cousin's top fuel dragster kit. I wired and plumbed the engine, ran brake lines, flocked the interior & made seat belts, made custom headers, etc...the exhaust is made out of aluminum tubing and it has white metal brakes on it. I smoothed out the body and added a tilt hood, put on roll pans front & rear, and put a clear panel in the bed (I read about that somewhere and thought it would be a good idea...looking back, I kinda wish I hadn't done it, but ah well).
Second-
(http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/Red_LX/bluetruck1.jpg)
AMT/Ertl '50-somethin Chevy pickup kit (can't remember...this was the one that was black with yellow wheels on the box). Decided to try soemthing different with this one...put springs under it from a monster truck kit with a custom front axle. Put some super swampers under it (ordered them from a place called American SATCO) and dropped a 396 in in place of the original 6 cylinder, with custom fenderwell headers :) I like this truck a lot.
Third-
(http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/Red_LX/clunker1.jpg)
AMT/Ertl '53 Ford pickup. Again, tried something different with this one and decided to build it up as a total beater. Body is bashed up & rusty, body panels are different colors, tires are bald & mismatched, exhaust is falling off, engine is leaking oil. Everyone seems to love this model and I do too because it's just cool. I definitely want to do another one like this.
Here's one of the projects I just happened to have a picture of-
(http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/Red_LX/IM000087.jpg)
This truck started life as a Monogram "Quadzilla" monster truck kit, and at some point I decided to make it into a pro streeter :dunno: I backhalved the frame with a four link, tubbed the bed, the engine is from a Bigfoot kit (and I think I put small block valve covers on a 460...oops!). I'm not sure if I'll ever finish this one...I messed up the truck's grille and I don't even know exactly where all the parts are I need to finish the kit.
heres one of my long term projects..
started as a ricer civic... one of the "tuner" kit they released a few years back.. a 95 cobra kit donated its chassis... and the hemi prostreetsuper bee donated its sohc hemi.. a few nascar kits here and there i have a great big box of stuff for it i think it is next in line to finnally finish... you guys may remeber this kit from my thread a month or so ago.. this time it will be finished.
the tunnel ram is not going to be a follow thru..cross ram is calling its name:flame:
last one s95 chassis
Nice truck's Red LX!! Build a car once in awhile though...:D
Sleeper, no pics...
and the t-bird 98% finished
They work now:sleep:
Nice work on the TC BTW. I have to wonder about the Civic though, chopping up a Stang kit AND a Hemi?:flame:
long story.. i couldnt bring myself to build a "ricer" so it sat in the junk pile. then i dug up the other parts. plans were origbuttstuffly for a mid mounted small block.Thats why it has an extended roof. but the hemi fits so nice under there:D
40000 Ford Falcon with Vulcan Cannon and .50 Cal options:evilgrin:
I did a few car kits...most of them got all screwed up.
I had a real nice Shelby cobra kit but some of the small parts fell off it and got lost, and then the windshield came off. thing.
I also have a '32 Ford project that I haven't touched in ages...chopped the top, was working on channeling the body and all that, but i haven't messed with it at all.
Trucks seem to agree with me more than cars when it comes to models. Dunno why.
What's the paint/wheel/body situation on the Honda? Flat black with Weld's and a hole in the hood I presume?
Red LX, Try a TC model!
unsure. probly a stock type civic color possibly green probly a centerline style wheel and a stock hood...changing intakes too a cross ram it will be real tight though.
Hey I had a Monogram Datsun snap-tite pickup kit that I painted camo, put a small block ford into, and put on a roof mounted machine gun along with rockets & missiles (courtesy of an apache chopper kit) :grinno:
It's still in my room if you wanna see a pic.
Someday...got too many car parts laying around my room for that right now. Plus just don't really have the desire to haul all my stuff back out again at the moment.
Sleeper, sounds good. Maybe a very small cowl, maybe even sport compact style, would work.
Red LX, hell yeah! Let's see em!
BTW, I did a complete model/diecast list for the LS1 GTO club, see it here:
http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56886
I'm thinking of doing the same for Fox TBirds, being that I own 95% of them. Opinions?
time+talent+paticence don't = me anymore
not knocking you guys tho ive dabbled in models and HO scale trains
plus id rather go ice fishing and this looks like a good hobby page
one more of a nice limit of pies from Red Lake
pics in previous thread
top 8lb and 5lb walleyes from Lake of the Woods
middle pic 12lb northen pike from Red Lake
bottom pic pies on Red lake
Kyle, Them's some nice fish, but man you are CRAZY! Standing around all day on ice, for fun? :D
Come on guys, I know more of you have models!:hick:
Here's some more Pro-Street pics to kickstart this one back up.
Heres a few that i've got on the shelp, a lil busted up from being moved between three houses now :yuck:
Some more
Couple more
Scratchbuilt my first snowmobile, a 1961-2 Darlberg 340 single only thing I didnt make is the track which is part of an old rc car tire with the sides cut off. And its not dusty, its 'snow' misted on it with white spraypaint :D
more
more.....
I actually have a scratchbuilt camper for the box of the 40 ford, thats why its sitting the way it is
Last one I think.. yeah my pictures suck:raspberry
i've got a couple more boxes of military models at my moms somewhere and some rally cars, have about a half dozen stock cars but theyre boring to look at :p got them all wired and plumbed though
the torino is the sweetness.. ive been working on a prostreet version:D
Well, aside from the unfinished Tbird...this is the only car I have
I was building a replica of my dads torino, I had a pile of pics from 73-74 when my parents got married but I misplaced the pics and never got it completely finished, still needs the GT stripes and a few other goodies
The GTO and the Torino are pretty hot. The F1 and Viper aren't bad either.
here are a couple. nothing i have is truely finished.
First is a Chevelle ss 396
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b295/Demented5oh/DSCF1659.jpg)
next is the mustang SuperStallion. I still need to finish the headlights and tails
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b295/Demented5oh/DSCF1685.jpg)
and lastly a replica of my 1988GT. this is actually a 93 Cobra kit that has 98 Saleen wheels, racing seats and im working on building a TFS track heat intake for it. sorry pictures suck
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b295/Demented5oh/DSCF1696.jpg)
Demented, NICE models. What paint is that on the Velle? That's HOT
Its one of the Boyd'S Colors in a spray can, want to say black and blue pearl but its been a while. The chevelle looks much better in person. the pics make the paint look thin on the edges for some reason. i do love the color as well.. thanks
Ok, I did these around the time they first came out so I was probably 13 or 14. The 57 was done when I was 14 or 15. That explains the dust and imperfections. I never learned how to use a spray gun, just the regular spray cans for the big parts and toothpicks for the small details (dash s, lettering, etc).

Cougars; Nice work. Swiffer dusters work great and the outside and a can of computer/electronics cleaner (kinda like aerosol) does the interior. Then pick up a few clear cases and you'll never have to dust again.
thanks. sometimes i sit on a bucket tho. its fun too been fishing three times this week already :hick:
Thanks.
Yeah, those things would have probably worked for semi-annual cleaning but after 15 years, the dust has "become one with the car." Also, these cars have probably only been out at the most, half of the time since they were built. The other half, if not more, have been spent in boxes which is why there is not even more dust. I don't think I've built a model since that '57. I think that was the last one I've touched which was some time around 1991 or 1992. I built that as a cake-topper for a huge cake with a '50's theme. Sure would make for better pictures without the layers of dust though. :hick:
Anyway, my models bring the standard down so maybe some others won't be afraid to post after seeing all of the other models posted in this thread. For instance, that "rusted" beater truck is awesome.
Hell yeah man! Keep them coming! We don't care how good they are, just show us.
Great looking models guys :D
I've completed about 50 or so myself. I'll get some pics of 'em up here later. No, I'm not going to post 50 individual pictures but I will put up a group shot of all of them together along with some idividuals of my favorites.
We'll take 50 photos. Bring em on!
My first model, my dad showed me how to build models using this one as our first one so obviously, he had a hand in it. Probably around 1985. This one spent a few years out on display as noted by all the dust:
The first model I did on my own, probably around 1986, notice the thick brushed on paint. This one went to school with me a few times so you know it had to have been held together with a lot of glue:
I think I was about 10 or 11 years old ('87-'88) when I did this one (molded in body-color hence the smooth finish):
12 or 13 years old when I did this, again - brushed on the black paint:
I did more during that 7-year or so time span from the mid 80's to early 90's, some of which I still have as well. Some others have been unfinished projects since that time that I still have and yet others I still have from that time, haven't even been unwrapped.
Okay, you asked for it. :D
Here are most of them. Not all. Anybody want to see any details of one, let me know and I'll take more pics.
Most of these were done between the ages of 11 and 17. I haven't really had time to work on any over the past few years. Many are missing parts, which I have laying around. I need to perform a restoration on most of these.
I have a few that I haven't started yet as well as many works in progress. I have also built about 15 or so Nascar kits which I didn't picture here.

Very nice models 5.0willgo. Also, nice quality pictures showing the models.

^A couple of my works in progress.
The green '89 GT is a parts car incase an '87-'88 cougar model comes out so I can make a clone of my car.
The black '64 1/2 will become a drag car. Most of its parts will be used so I can make a replica of my Fairlane. The Thunderbolt parts from the Fairlane kit will go onto the Mustang
The Charger is just an ongoing experiment.
^A few of my metal body models. Not much needed on the exterior but a few small details. Most of my work was put into the motors and interiors.
Wow if I didnt know any better the pics in the last post look like real cars on the showroom floor!
Something similar to this bounced around a while back:
http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=109
I forgot I posted this one already:
I'll just stick with the models. My diecast collection consists of well over 1,000 cars, trucks etc. And since more than half of them are Nascar collectibles, I probably have about 200 T-birds.
Here's a post I made a while back about one of my plastic TC's.
http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=3313 (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=3313")
nice models guys this thread is going well
NICE collection. The muscle cars must look good all together. The Coronet was my fav, and maybe the 71 Charger too. More pics of those?
You got it.
Coronet (woops, wiper fell off)
Charger (missing a radiator)
hmm looks like I might have to go pick some of these up this weekend :) guess ill get the 88 gt, 93 cobra and if they have one a 00 cobra R.
I want to make the 00 cobra R hood for the fox body, what would I use to blend/mold the 2 pcs together?
Glue, putty, sand paper and patience.
you use the glue like you would a welder on a real car and putty like you would bondo.
Wow Fred those are incredibly good. You are a super talented guy. How do you get the finishes to be so smooth and glossy? Do you use an airbrush? I want more pics of the GTO and the General Lee!
Thanks Jim. I just use basic Testors spray paint. Some of them, depending on how glossy they look, I'll hit with the Testors clear coat. To make them extra glossy, Meguiars Gold Class wax:D
I'll get the pics up a little later. Which GTO do you want to see? The '67 or the '69 Judge?
How about both?
sweet guys keep em rolling in!!!!
Here they are...
I wasn't going to build the general lee as it is. It was going to be a plain red '69 charger. But after painting the car red and the interior black, I decided to change it to the general lee.
The '67 GTO is an AMT kit. Anyone have problems with the newer AMT kits? I noticed that some of the AMT stuff is not very well detailed and parts often don't line up the way they are supposed to. Not much detail here.
The '69 GTO was one of the first ones I built so it doesn't have a lot of detail either.
This is one of my favorite ones. This Cutlass is an AMT kit but very well detailed and has turning front tires. It is a 442 but I decided to make it a more generic looking car. I painted the vinyl top since it was a hard top and used two different color spray paints to get the body color. I also decided to detail the engine bay a little bit by putting in spark plug wires.
And here are two of my Fox T-bird Nascar kits.
Some people have too much time on there hands.
Mine are all packed away at my parents house.:D
hey guys here is a link to a sight i found helpful for some Special Touches
http://www.briansmodelcars.com/tutorials/index.asp
Nice stuff. Some of the "newer" AMT kits are really just old AMT or MPC kits in new boxes. The new AMT 05 GT and 04 GTO kits are just re-labled Polar Lights stuff.
lets not let this thread go away. figured id give it a try and picked up these earlier tonight. (http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/7/web/691000-691999/691011_13_full.jpg) didnt have any thunderbird models and I cant find a 00 cobra R or a 93 cobra, anyone seen them on ebay or something? no luck their either.
gonna build the mach and see how it all goes..the fox will be for the mock up of a model of my own car. forgot to buy glue while I was at the hobby store lol :(
I just picked up a nice prostock mustangII/cobraII kit at wal-mart tonight
i cant find any of the prostock kits...i need a set of draglite or similar wheels like on the tbird and lincoln :(
the mustangII kit uses a centerline style wheel
yea but the tbird and lincoln in the previous posts have a draglite style wheel didnt they?
yes, I figured id let you know that the other didnt comewith them;)
hehehe...I just bought a new camera! Pics tonight, I promise!
Stay tuned sports fans...:D
Stupid camera doesn't even turn on. *sigh* Try again tomorrow.
If it helps...all of Monogram's old pro-stock and pro-street kits came with Centerline Draglite-style wheels. But the fronts were super skinny and the rears were super wide.
I'm a little late getting in on this but...I found out years ago that there are several key ingredients for a good finish.
First, is prep work. Wash the body with hot soapy water and let it air dry.
Second, good paint. Spray paint works great but in my experience, the more it costs, the better it is. The blue and black trucks I posted pics of were both painted with this Rustoleum enamel that I picked up that was around $3 a can. You also gotta make sure you don't go too heavy when you apply the paint- the fan-type spray heads are the best.
And third- ideal conditions! I always had to paint my cars outside, so I would try to do it when it was about 70-80 degrees outside with low humidity, and kept the models out of the sun. After I did a coat I would cover the body with one of those clear plastic covers (from a model display case) to keep dust and bugs out of the paint until it dried.
Also, turtle wax chrome polish works pretty good for smoothing out minor imperfections in the paint. Then you can put Pledge on it to make it look purdy.
BTW, 5.0willgo- the valve covers on that hemi are supposed to be black ;) notice the wrinly finish on them?
sneak peek of my new compleatly fabricated setup - minus body/chassis:D
updated pics soon to come.
Daaammmmnnnn!!!!
you know it :D
updated pics....yes it is pink it is the sealer i am using. will be some shade of white.
helps if i attach the pics:flame:
more
last ones for today:D
Good tips, another thing you can do is to stand the can of paint up in a couple inches of warm water for a few minuites before you paint, the paint will flow out nicer when warm, just gotta be more careful of runs. Shake the can regularily! i've gotten great paint jobs out of No-Name paint but colour variety is limited with the cheap ones.
gotten kind of lonley in here:(
i was going to borrow my moms diggi cam but got so excited about the real car running that i forgot to. mabey next week.
That II looks pretty sick. What are you using to fab up the Piping??
its a special mix. its really more white but the red body bleed thru some. i used plastic stock for everthing just about
That's just sick! Good news though Sleeper, I got the new camera to work, taking pics now. ;) Where and how did you gat that turbo set-up??
completly homemade. wont see anything like it in a kit.:D
I hope to do a final paint and assembly on the car tommorow..
I started back on the 55 tonight.. time for an update
nasty rollcage, tubular front clip , twin turbo hemi:D
Ah, how could I forget about warming the paint! Yep, you can put it in hot water, or leave it in the sun (what I usually did) or put it in front of a space heater. Definitely helps.
do you paint your parts before install? Im thinking it would turn out nicer if painted in different pieces? I started on the 87 GT today and while I was out buying glue I found a 70 boss 429 so I had to get it lol
pics of the 55 before and during with its new clip and engine.
and a frontal... this is kind of a beater i put together that i didnt have to worry about the 4yr old grabbing. it was getting war wounded:yuck:
Have to restart windows for the new cameras new program! Be back in 2 minutes WITH pics!! Stay tuned!
OK. Here's my 55 Chevy street machine, gasser style. It won second place in the Scale Auto Enthusiast Magazine 1998 Annual Contest and was printed in the Feb 99 issue. It's a Revell kit painted Cessna/Continintal Gold and Jet Black 2-tone, supercharged small-block, and a painted frame. I was 14 when I built it.
awesome stuff guys....wish i had the patience for that! mine always turn out too look like ...lol
scweet ..looks good mine is the same base kit but mine has a single exhaust;) i liked mine up gasser 60's style .. but you know how kids kill stuff:D i still like the beater look though i finnally just finished mine up a few ago.. all slammed and tucked now still keeps that ruff race car vibe:rollin: still got to finish the down pipe.:flame:
Bad sleeper! I see the TC rear end under that thing! :D Here's my 66 Rambler junker. My first job was at my grandpa's AMC junkyard so it's kind of a tribute to that. Straight-6, missing trans, busted axle, rusted, and full of junk from other cars. Check out the cracked windshield!
cool...
How about a few more of the 2 Pro Streets and my wok in progress?
well to bump this thread back up here are some pics of some stuff my Dad had. I found this stuff in a box when he died last year. its kinda neat to see all the stuff he did back in the day. Alot of them have carpet and different materials in the interior parts

those are pretty sweet.
wow thats some neat vintage stuff..
Starting my 67 Plymouth GTX, and 67 Stang Fastback
That's cool that you found all those. My dad built models when he was young. He entered some competitions too. As they started to fall apart though, he loaded the interiors with firecrackers and blew them all up.
The oldest kit I have is a release from 1976 of a "z76 Camaro" basically it's a '76 Camaro that you can build stock or modify with the parts in the kit. The only reason I have this particular one is that my aunt bought it when she got her Camaro in '76. Now it's my car so I inherited the model kit.
Well it dies an untimely death today .. fresh paint and heat=puddle of plastic couldnt save it... so i transfered the chassis motor and interior to an old SVO kit i have.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Well, how about some new pics??
this is my most recently finished. the hood is at a friends appartment getting some pinstriping done

im kinda at a stand still till i decide what im doing ..I test fitted the SVO body and thats about it
I hope this works this time.If so,give me a few minutes to resize my other pics and give some details.
That was a little big, hope i got it right this time.At least i finally got it small enough to post.
Anyway, this is my Merc.Been working on it for a few years.Just a little bit at a time.Got to be in the right mood.Got skirts to put on it.Has a 392 Chrysler FirePower(hemi) in it.Still debating with myself o
n the induction.Multiple carbs or supercharger?
Hope these aren't too small.
This is a Duster I've been working on for a while as well.I used Plastikote paint on this one(from the can).Used a 440 Mag from the Amt Charger kit.Wheels and tires from the Revellgram 32 Ford coupe kit.
what year mercury is that? i posted mine of a 49 merc. they look about the same.
Nice work 84 and 30th! Hey 84, try messing with your cameras settings, I think you have it on outdoor and too sensative, also quicken up your shutter speed a little. Then give us some more pics of that GOAT!
And 30th, nice so far, but you have to finish them! (Like I'm one to talk...)
And Sleeper, that SVO looks too cool not to finish!!
Hey 84,yeah it's the 49 by amt. It's just an older version.Actually,it's the second time at customizing the Merc. The first one wasn't done either and a co-worker made a deal that i couln't refuse.
And Aero,You should see how many i havn't finished. My friends call me the rubberband man cause that's how most of them are held together. But here is one.Done back when they first came out.Stored it in a ziplock bag inside of the box.The box has been in the attack for a while(notice the bird sh*t).
Oops.
here is ever angle that looks good on the goat. i looked a little harder and i was wrong about the firewall. it is actualy blue. i wonder what i was thinking?

man that pontiac sure has some bright suspension. lol
Here are some pics of the TC i am working on now. Ive done a little parts swapping on this one. It has 98 Stang side mirrors, Saleen seats, Saleen SR wheels from a 1/24 diecast

great detail paint in the engine compartment Demented.
Does anyone have any tips or subjects for kit bashing? As an example:For those early mustang lovers a friend of mine once mixed a Revellgram Shelby GT350 with a Revellgram Thunderbird Supercoupe.Awsome outcome. He removed the engine compartment well from the Shelby,Trimmed the rear of the SC chasis and (if i remember correctly)a little of the SC interior tub and the whole SC chasis, drivetrain, and interior slid right in the Shelby's body.Add your own custom paint job and wheels.done.Sits nice and low,but not too low.Wish he still had it so i could post some pics.
That TC is HOT. I like how you detailed the suspension (AL driveshaft, 8.8 Diff cover, Hothkis Bars, etc). That's one TC I would not mind owning in real life!
thanks guys. I also have the dreaded Fram oil filter on it ( only one that i could paint and look realistic) Also painted the Saleen Racing seats a Charcoal as to differ from the interior. I wish i would have lowered the suspension but i have 3 more to play with.

I actually did a '56 Ford F-100 in blue with gold flake. It's been packed away since I moved back from Jersey 6 years ago....I'm gonna have to dig it out.
N-ICE!!! That back-end looks NASTY with those tires! Great stance, paint, build, BRAVO. I also have to say that that is some of the best pics I've EVER seen of a model. (I like it so much because it has Aerobird Motorsports Intercooler hoses on it :D:D)
thanks aerobird. All of you guys got me wanting to build this one when this thread started and of course since i own a TC it had to be detailed enough for me. Since i have 3 more TC models im going to do another one that will be a Street Racer version, big turbo, FMIC, slammed, 3" exhaust dumped out the side and whatever else i can come up with. Might get a cage snuck in there and some subframe connectors. This one might take me a while. I have been trying to find a 83-86 body to make a replica of my TC but cant get one...
BTW aerobird i ran into some cash dilema's and couldn't send out the money for those Junkyard parts. Im sure you figured that by now but thanks,
This is a model car body shell that I put on an xmod. Lots of custom work done to it. I wouldn't mind doing a thunderbird xmod if I can get a kit.

Demented, can't wait to see the next one! I'll buy that one if it helps :D:D It's alright, send it whenever. As far as the 83-86 body, you have to buy a 83-86 Pro-Stock and do alot of custom stuff. I think it got posted earlier. I have a cr@p load of those bodies if you're interested.
Jason, that's kinda cool. Those things are R/C's right? That would make a bad-@$$ TC kit.
ya i am interested in a 86 body. Pm me about it.
Whoa! How long did it take to find a car with the right wheel base? I have an xmod but none of the spare bodies I have fit right. There either too wide or too long.
Well it's a full size 1/24 kit. You could cut sections out of the body in at least 3 different places to help keep the proportions to scale to fit the chassis. http://www.xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11173&highlight=brushless (http://"http://www.xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11173&highlight=brushless") I used 1.5mm carbon fiber and made my own chassis. http://www.xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12303&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=chevelle&start=0 (http://"http://www.xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12303&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=chevelle&start=0") That was a 70 chevelle I also did, and ended up selling on ebay. Currently working on a grand national. I like making these because you can actually drive em.
Jason
, looks like I gotta get my camera and models out, only 3 of them are worth posting in here, as soon as I get internet back at my house I'll post em, hopefully it should be within a couple weeks here.
Blazin_Jason, you think youd be able to take a stock xmod, and turbo coupe model, and make the body fit, and the model wheels and tires fit? id be very interested, even with a "budget" build, like using ABS plastic, or FRP for the chassis rather than carbon fiber
Here's a bit of some of the work....basically a rear quarter replacement and reworking of the side moulding...
I need to get another set of taillights though. The body I started with came with a bunch of previously built cars, and they managed to screw up the taillights.
Yes that wouldn't be a problem at all. PM if you wish.
Jason

Dude try to find the macro button. It's the one with the little tulip next to it. Those pics are way out of focus. Makes it hard to see those nice models.
macro button? I have no idea what that is
Most digital cameras have that feature. It allows the lens to focus on objects that are very close to it so you can get nice clear pictures of things like models, plants, bugs, etc. And the button usually has a small tulip icon next to it.
I dont think I have one my cam is ancient....
Time to start this thread back up!!! Here's my first COMPLETED model of 06! It's an old (1986 issue) 1956 TBird model, TC'd out! I hacke the front subframe and added on TC suspension, modded the UCA's on the 8.8 and it dropped right in, custom built dual-exhaust from the turbo-back, dropped in a TC dash and seats (and shifter), added in a TC motor, WAY lowered it in, TC rad with fans, made the scoop functional, and detailed her out. Also removed the Continental kit. It's painted 99cent Wal-Mart red (for some reason that red really works well on models, and accepts wax too!). Only took me 10 months to build the thing!!!
That's insane. And possibly one of the coolest mods I've seen. I'd love to see it IRL. There are a lot more wires involved I would imagine.
:rollin: i got this model car about 8 months ago off of ebay! definitely my dream tbird but not in pink! then about 2 weeks ago i was cleanin my garage and i found this car craft mag with this actual car of the model! i was pretty freakin excited i figured you guys would appreciate it i have some more pics il add later!
Hey I have 4 of those models! And that issue! ANd the PHR, and Hot Rod with the car too! It's a cool kit, but the dual-blower set-up SUCKS. The rest is cool. In fact it's the same chassis in the Mark VII kit I have posted on here earlier (albeit HIGHLY modified).
THIS is the big one! ;)
wow i forgot about this thread.... since i seen this last ive decide to build my own version of an xmod.
Sweet! Let's see it!
here are a couple of it.. not alot of progress working on scaling everything down on it. this was a 1/16?? r/c all scaled down .and inside a model car shell.Still have to build axles/mount wheels/wire it up.
I would like to do a cougar xmod... but that'd cost money. So i guess I'll just keep it as a mustang right now!
and anyone remember the white/yellow t/c model i done a while back? it back under the knife with a minitub and a modded 2300.;)
NICE! I love the vibe of that 55! And the tubbing is nice, how about some chassis and engine shots??
havent got it finalized yet. i only had to cut back to the subframe though:D and used i had it mocked up with a fox mustang rear.
Did someone say they had 85-86 bodies? I making a stock 85-86 also but I haven't touched it in months because I'm making a 87-93 Mustang Coupe body.
Yep they sure did. Unfortunately it's a Pro-Stock. Go back to the 1st page of this thread and start reading, it's all covered. ;)
Lets see some pics.. I would kill for a stang coupe model...
Some pictures of the cars I own......

I agree! BOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Hey guys, check this out! I added a page to my website called "Hobby" and it has my models on there. All 6 of them:hick:
Make your own models and sit them next to the stock ones....try it just for fun.
Ok, thats the same body I used to make my conversion. There was a company making aftermarket resin 85-86 Turbo Coupe bodies and I thought someone here might have one.
The same company made the Coupe body that I have and I'm trying to reproduce. The T-coupe is next on the list to make. Trust me, when they are ready to order, you guys will have first dibbs on the t-coupes.
New model! I bought this mid-90's re-release of the Revell 1969 Baldwin-Motion Stage III 427 Camaro. I painted it in Rust-o-leum spray Metallic Blue (these paints are BAD-ASS! It lays more than a metalflake. I'm VERY impressed). I had to paint the tail white as well as the decals only had the pinstripe. The rest of the striping are decals. I built it box-stock and factory-stock. It's not my best, but it looks good in the sunlight and on the shelf. Not bad for a kit that originally came out before the TC kit. I have about 8-10 hours in it. I added in a pic of the entire collection for posterities sake. I completed 3 last year (Jan the 86 TC, Feb a 87 TC that I later dropped and still needs to be fixed, and Mar the LSC) and 2 so far this year (the 55 in Feb and the B-M in Apr). I'm hoping to finish 6 this year.
, I'm suprised at least Sleeper didn't check in on this project. I know it's a Camaro, but I had to pay $$$ to get it off of eBay! I'll try to takse some better pics soon.
im here:D i still havent finished the t/c since minitubbing it:nono: guess i need to break out the glue:D
BTW camaro is pimp
That's a nice looking Camaro. I just picked up the '87 TC model at Wal-Mart. Going to try to build it this weekend while I'm at work. lol. I have the '92 Cougar to build too. Maybe I can knock both of them off.
Sweet ;) Glad you guys are still hanging with me. I'm staying around the shop this 3-day weekend so I'll get to play with the new camera a little and I'll probably get bored and start working on another one. I have a 68 or 69 Hemi Road Runner that I painted in the summer of 2003! It's Hemi Orange and the paint looks great but I haven't done anything else, so I think I'll try to finish that one. I don't have any Mopars done yet and the collection of "builts" needs another muscle car and some more color.
its been too nice out to work on mine. gotta blow the dust off the bike ( works well at 140)
1964 GTO. I actually built this one last year, but it was a gift for a friend. I dropped by to see him and took some pics.

Here's one I'm working on..
I don't build too many static models anymore.. Since I have a pretty big slot car track in my basp00get I've lately been converting 1/32 and 1/24 cars over to slot car chassis..
I found this Torino promo model on eBay for short money because it had a heavy coat of taxi yellow on it..
It cleaned up nice~
(http://home.comcast.net/~redlineguy/torino.jpg)
then I shot it blue and masked it off for the second color~
(http://home.comcast.net/~redlineguy/KevsTorinoA.jpg)
then I decaled it up like David Pearsons 1969 Torino.. sort of a "What if David stayed with Holman Moody through 1972" theme~
(http://home.comcast.net/~redlineguy/KevsTorinoB.jpg)
I'm still working on the interior roll cage and driver figure..should be finished up this week
BTW.. Here's my track, it's 20 feet long by 8 feet wide at the far end anf 5.5 feet wide at the near end. It can be raced as a road course or an oval thanks to 2 sections that remove and swap it back and forth..
! That's a nice slot set-up (and car too!).
Sweet !!!!
WOW that's awesome!! I want that track!! Pearson was the man.
My buddy photoshopped this for me. #17 forever!! :D
Sorry for going off topic... :flame:
Here's some more of the Baldwin-Motion. It's an old release from the 80's and I built it box stock. That paint job was HARD. The pinstripes and the hockey sticks are decals, everything else is paint. Notice the sparkle in that metallic. It looks more metalflake then my metalflake paint!

heres an update on my TC model I have been building it to match my current TC minus the Cobra R's saving that for the next one ;)
Here Is One Ive Been Woorking On Since There Are No Fox Cougar Kits I Made My Own
definitely original. I have another that I am gonna play with to decide how I am gonna finish my 88TC this first one is a before ;)
