i have 4 right now. I started one. gonna be a candy blue metallic. Im looking for some wheels for right now. Wish i could find a 85-86TC. Nice work on yours so far. Not too sure about the yellow fade but finish product tells all..
I've got a model and a few 1/64 "y" cars:
Buy one of the 87TC kits and hunt down one of the old '83 drag car kits and kit-bash.
I have made nil progress on mine.....
i havent been able to find one of a thunderbird like mine or any like my truck but i am currently working on a 1929 model A rodster and after it is a 1965 2+2 fastback mustang. the last one finished was a 1949 murcury coup that i did as a rat rod. its nice to see that im not the only childish person here.
jeremy
that will look good .. i put my long term project on hold to do this bird... 426 hemi civic anyone:flame:
Your all ahead of me, I have a couple other t-birds buried in the closet but the plastic isnt even off the boxes. I've been flipping through my old model magazines and started thinking about beginning to build again, dont think i've built a model in 2-3 years now. Used to do it religiously for about 8 years, have a box of trophies and medals somewhere.
Well here is my Turbocoupe model.. this is the closest model I'll ever find, i think to my car.

I finished one of the 86 Pro-Street's. Stuck a blower on it and painted a 3-shade Bronze Fade. Then I built a LSC Pro-Street to go with, stuck the Shotgun 429 on the auto and painted it Gunmetal with a Black stripe. I did an original TC in White/Charcoal and a 79 Turbo Stang in Red. Current project is stuffing TC internals and suspension into a 56 Bird.
scweet
holy thats alot of models
And I thought I had alot of models with 100-150 built and unbuilt, !
update... all just mocked up...:flame:
i dont know about the fade but other than that that is one sweet car. i would go with a dark color on it if it was mine.just my:2c:
ive got 2 more to do .. both will be black to mimick my ex 88 302 and my 429 turbo coupe:D figured id do something period correct... for a practice run
that looks hot and i dont mine the fade on it either deffinetly looks unique keep up the good work i wanna see the finished product :D
The fade looks too 90's for my taste but if your going for that period you hit it! lol
yeah thats was the goal... too bad these kits have nasty looking tailights:yuck: looks like it will get a black out treatment to the rear
going late 80's early 90's might as well jump head deep:giggle:
Baxo, name your price, I don't have that.
My pic is from last year, my TC collection literally grows daily. (As do the regular models, I'm a sucker for a good muscle car kit) I just picked up 2 more Motorworks TC's today and a 69 Mach 1 with Shaker. Last weekend got me a 66 Fairlane 427, another Mach, an 05 GT Stang, and a Boss 429. I got a 35th Anny SS Camaro, a 90 SC, and a 69 Trans-Am in the backseat of the car too. I actually rent a storage garage specifically for my collection. Unfortunately, I only have 5 completed models in my possession. (The 86 Pro-Street, the LSC Pro-Street, the Turbo Stang, a 66 Rambler junker, and my 55 Chevy that got featured in Scale Auto when I was 15). I build alot of models for friends/relatives. (79 Bandit Trans Am with a N2O set-up for Mark, 64 GTO hardtop in Gunmetal with Tri-Power and a 4-Speed for Liggy, 88 TC in White for the G/F, 68 AMX in Dark Blue for Dad, 68 AMX in Hunter Green for Grampa!) Hmm...Let's start a model thread!
Hey Sleeper: Taillight trick 101: use a sharpie on the BACKside of the taillights on everything except the roundels (DO the back-up lense area too). Then glue on the clear back-ups and paint the OUTside's bottom part taillight red metallic for the reflector. They turn out bad-@$$ this way.
ive built a bunch of model cars but out of all that ive built there are only 4 on display. when i moved from idaho to utah most of my cars got broken so i only have 2 left from b4 the move. im trying to get some built and get the constant car show i used to have going on but i dont have the time to dedicate to models that i used to what with my real cars and all, but the models will always be a love of mine. somebody wwant to send me an 84 thunderbird or a 77 ford truck model?
jeremy
ill give it a try on the next one.. This car was kinda a dry run for the other two i plan on doing..
now to find scale weld wheels.. and a regular 429;)
Cool model, but WTF is up with those tail lights? Did you paint 'em like that or is it like that from factory? And if so, I wonder if tail lights like that exist? Some of our European members would be interested in knowing...
thats one bad ass model...i've tried to do a lightning and a couple others but they never turn out even half decent. i guess i need to take my time. i'm not sure if i like the fade or not. i like the idea tho. maybe a fade to black instead of white?
where can I find these models online to buy..I wanna do some but can never seem to find anything :(
how are you painting them also, brushes and paint or spraypaint to get a even coating?
eBay has the original red molded TC's, Wal-Mart has the silver-molded Motorworks version.
Im talking the model cars in general..I would like to do a couple fox chasis cars and try to find a 87-93 gt mustang and make it look like mine :)
AMT just re-released a 90 GT hatch, so did Revell. Check out eBay and Wal-Marts and your local hobby store, if you have one.
Could anybody direct me to a site where i could find one of mine year and model?
What's your year and model, that would help a little...
well.. I bought it like that, but yeah i bought it from Europe, France I think.. on ebay.

nice :)
As far as a c6 tranny is concerned, the Revell/Monogram Talladega has that. Also,as far as welds are concerned, you would have to get 2 sets(4)of front wheels From the Glidden prostockers. To make the back ones a little deeper than the front, use the back ring from the skinny fronts and glue it to the front of the wheel. If someone has a few sets of these wheels, check it out for yourself, you may be surprised at how this looks.
There are quite a few places that make those in Resin, though the above technique does look really good. Expensive though when you buy a $30 Glidden model x2...
I understand the price thing there. It's just something i was doing when i was younger.I must have bought 20 of the Glidden prostockers back then(over time)and used everyone for parts.Baxo, that is one beautiful bird model. What scale is it?It would be great to make a resin mold from and make a few bucks.ChuckW,nice body work.I thought about doing the same thing, butI always thought the rear fenders on the TC model wasn't quite round enough to work for the 83 to 86.Was too afraid that i would screw up the fender lip trying to round it a little more. How does the interior shell fit in prostock body?Any issues there?Anyone out there have any extra prostock bird tail lights?
I have a 87 TC from Wal-Mart that's almost done. My pride and joy as far as Modeling goes however is my Games Workshop stuff including Warhammer 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, and Bloodbowl armies/teams.
Dakota, NICE. I'm sure you saw my win thread with my Dark Eldar that kick everybodies @$$es.

heres a t-bird that I havent seen before ;) is it a sport?
Nope. That's a SC, and it's a super-thin lexan body for R/C cars. Here's a quickie run-down of 83-88 TBird models in 1/24 (no Cougs cause they sadly didn't make any):
Monogram Frank Iaconio 83 Pro-Stock (white, low scoop, split wing)
Monogram Lee Shepard 84 Pro-Stock (white, high scoop, single wing)
Monogram Bob Glidden 85 Pro-Stock (white, low scoop, split wing)
Monogram Bob Glidden 87 Pro-Stock (best Pro-Stock kit ever made, red or white)
Monogram Stock 87 TC (red, comes with a Motorsport wing and a bodykit)
Revell Matt & Debbie Hay 87 TC Pro-Street (pink with a twin-blown 351, tube chassis)
Revell "RedHot" Pro-Street 86 (actually the 84 Pro-stock kit with gold chrome in red)
Revell "Muscle Machines" 3-car set (comes with a py Beretta and a pier Firebird model and a decal-less 87 Glidden Pro Stock)
Monogram "TBird Heritage" set (comes with a good 56, a better 58, and the stock 87 TC)
Motorworks by Revell 87 TC (rehash of the original Monogram in silver with decals)
Monogram 83-86 NASCAR stockers (they made like 6 different ones, all identical)
Model Empire 83-86 NASCAR stocker (reissue of the above with a certificate for Slixx decals)
Revell/Monogram 87-88 NASCAR stocker (again, like 6 different ones, all the same, and not made until like 98 when TBirds wern't even NASCARS anymore!)
Model Empire 87-88 NASCAR stocker (again, a reissue of the above)
Yes, but no "street" car versions of said body style
I know. There was a resin that RAMCOM did back in the day, complete with 10-holes, but those are all long gone, I don't even have one.
There was a kit made of the truck. My dad was into models a long tie ago and after he died i got all his old stuff. well in there was a 76 F150 but its a stepside. only thing i could find was the cab and the instructins. I have a boat load of parts from him and about 20 finished cars/trucks but most have been damaged
