how hard is it to put a t-5 in an 84 t-bird
should be a breeze. same as any other fox. its a pretty streight foward swap.
I just installed one in my '88 Bird. Was easy. But I guess that would also depend on your Mechanical skills too. If you are just getting into working on your car, on a scale of 1-10, I would give it about a 7 for difficulty for a newbie. If you have been doing your own work for awhile and are confident with your skills, I would say it is about a 2 then. The worst part is getting the pedals in. Takes forever to get that one nut tightened!
im a mecanic by trade but this is my introduction to thunderbirds.
Good. Then it should be a walk it the park.:) Think of it as doing a clutch job on a '87-'93 Mustang.
Just did it to my cougar, easy
next question is about cost. how much will it caust to get the trans, pedal, flywheel, bellhousing, and any other parts i might need? i know that no matter how well planned i am at the start i will end up not having everything but i would like to know about how much it should caust.
depends on you and where your getting your stuff vs what you actually get. my donor was a 89ish mustang. i got the whole car for 100bucksas a trade at my uncles dealership. all i bought new was a frpp clutch cable and quadrant, frpp king cobra clutch and pp, and a rear main seal. pretty much the rest came out of the stang. i forget what i paid for the new parts but less than 250-300.
