Well, I did it. I've officially begun the process of modding the Neon. I just completed the transaction of ordering a cold air intake for it. Good news is, after the money I had saved in my PayPal account it only cost me a few dollars for shipping.
Here (http://"http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8027311499&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT") is the one I bougt. Sure, it's a cheapy one, but I'm mainly getting it for the sound. Very rice-ly of me, isn't it? Hope you all don't kill me for it, but I just couldn't see spending any more money towards the t-bird when I have about $600 worth of parts just waiting to be installed on it. And, I can guarantee you when I get that school refund check (any day now) a part of it goes toward fixing the busted rear end for it.
Woot!!!1
Aw come on man, I've resisted the "urge" to modify my Tempo, you tellin me you can't hold out?
Better watch out or you'll end up like this guy I work with...has a four door neon with a full body kit, chrome wheels, and the best part....mystic paint
You'll never catch me buying a bodykit for anything, unless it's a Motorsport kit for my T-bird and it's cheap.
I would have done the same
i want a 98 Neon ACR
As long as you didn't get a fart cannon I think you're OK ;)
haha yea just don't try to show off in it or anything
yeah...id rather the sound from the intake than an overdone exaust on any 4cyl....
So when are you getting NAWS?:D Just kiddin bro' Make it faster no matter what it is!
Well, you could always, you know.. USE those T-bird parts and make room to buy more.. :p
My long-term dreams for the car include a turbo kit, etc, but I doubt that will happen. Once I get a real job I'll probably trade it in before it's 100% paid off and get a Charger or somethin'. All just dreams for now though.
I'm getting the CAI to drown out the whiny pissant sound the car makes now. I remember how different my t-bird sounded once when I drove it (pre-exhaust work) with the air cleaner lid loosened.
:rice::yuck::nono:
Just keep in mind no matter what you do it's still a NEON. Unless its an SRT4 you will get no respect modding it. Even if it is an SRT4 you get very little.
Meh, who cares, as long as he's happy with it.
Go and buy the dynomax exhaust pipe kit, which is 2.5", stock a stock style cat on there, and a superturbo ler, and you should sound decent, and pick up a few horses there too.
A person can say that about any single car on this planet. Even an Enzo Ferarri. "Eh, it's cool I guess, exotic and stuff, but he didn't do any of the work himself." People like to put down makes and models they don't like by belittling them with "it's just a [insert car name]." Back when I used to drive my '84 LTD around with Mustang 10-holes on it, I caught a lot of shiznit for it. "Why did you waste nice wheels and tires on that grandma car?" "It's just a grocery getter." Before I had this Neon, I hated them with a passion. Why? Hell, it's called a Neon, named after a gas and/or beer sign. I laughed and scoffed at them too, but I've seen the kind of work that can be done and it's quite impressive. I'll probably never put down 300 at the wheels, or for that matter, even 150, but it feels good knowing that others are doing so.
Doesn't matter to me anyway. I don't need anyone's respect. If I cared about people's thoughts on me, I wouldn't be driving a red Dodge Neon around, now, would I? I'd have to get a big pen 15-enhancing Dodge Ram or a Ford F-350 with smokestacks. Good thing about having such a minion pissant car is that it seems to keep the police forces at bay. With tons of others just like mine running around, it doesn't seem to stand out as much as say, my '85 Bird would.

scroll down and read about the fastest neons
Confused, in one of the cars descriptions it say "without the help of a wheelie bar" WTF are they converting these things to rear wheel, or are they just stating that because it's front wheel drive, it doesn't need one?
The wheelie bar helps keep the front wheels on the ground, the more they lift the more spinn they have = higher trap times, we are doing the same to my Bros GTP. I scoffed at it to but it does help.;)
As far as the Neon, I could really careless whether someone mods one or not, I just know for 5 grand less than it takes to mod one of those I can be running circles around it. Just keep in mind the cost to mod a Neon vs a V8. As far as police RED attracts police more than any other color and a neon is far more "sporty" looking than an 85 t-bird. I have a Scoop on mine and have never even been followed by a cop yet i see neons pulled all the time. Maybe its just here at the beach. Any way good luck with the mods and Hopefully you'll realise the cost and get the Nice Bird back going :D
Meh, nothing wrong with modding the Neon. I've been thinking about modding my Tib. But it's too new right now and I don't want to take any chances of voiding my warrenty or causing it to become unreliable. That's the reason I bought it afterall. They have a Turbo kit for it that I'm planning to buy once it's payed off along with a bunch of other goodies. I'll definately be out of warrenty by then at the rate I'm going and it will be about time for a new car.
The Cougar is just about where I want it. So with just some restoration work here and there, consider it a cooked turkey... or cat.
naw i hated ya after listening to you bitch about your job:flip:

am i telling the truth maybe meh heh heh heh:evilgrin:
Hell, like other people have said: It's your car, do what you want with it. I'd like to put of those on my RSX, but i'm still too cheap.
I also agree with Bird351 - use those Bird parts! Cat Jam is only 7.5 months away, and I ain't havin' no Neon beat the pants off my Cougar when we race. ;)
