Well this morning I had fun, got my wisdom teeth out. I like the drugs, because i hate this pain. I cant wait til these things stop hurting. Any of you guys been through this yet?
Nope not yet. But I should because I have one coming in side ways. But they also told me it has a main nerve that runs to my chin/jaw area and if its cut I won't have any feeling. So I decide about 6 years ago to just let them come in.
They told me the same thing, but nothing bad happened.
I had mine surgically removed. 4 boney inpactions (sp?). Knocked me out, broke 'em up and vacc'ed em out (that sucked:D ) The had me on pain killers, but they made me sick :yuck: .
I've heard nothing good about people getting their wisdom teeth pulled. Hell one of my buddies during his visit had his jaw fractured in the process of pulling one. I'll just take some heavy meds thank you very much.
just had one out and hurt like hell when they pulled it but after that i was ok. but also i have a high tollerance of pain:evilgrin:
ugh....i pretty much need too have both the bottom ones removed...
Those are the only two that are threw in my mouth. My Dad and his famliy never had any of theres pulled and he is 54 years old. I think I will keep mine until I am told they have to come out.
I was told to have mine pulled. I don't want to do it. If I don't notice any pain from them, they can stay for all I care.
They dont bother me, I dont bother them.
Its not that bad. They pulled 3 out in one piece. One they happened to split. Not too much pain, its easy to handle. Im gonna make a necklace out of the 3 teeth I have. Not really though.
I had 2 come in on the bottom. They had to come out because they would have screwed up my other teeth. They were both under the gum except for the very top. Yeah in other words they were impacted. Yeah I had 'em both taken out at once while I was awake! Yeah that was fun sitting in the oral surgen's office for an hour while they pulled 'em out. The had to break the top off of both of them and then cut the roots out. While I was awake. Oh yeah what fun. But on the bright side I got to take a bunch of Vicadin :D !
They put me out. I dont remember anything from 8am to 5pm today. They said take off your hoodie and breath in the gas we're putting in your IV. Then I woke up on the couch at home. I took some Valium I think. Now its just IB and some antibiotics.
I had one removed, it was impacted. The others don't hurt so I'm not having them removed.
I don't see why people claim so much pain, or the need for drugs. Had all 4 yanked 5 years ago and although the gaping, bleeding holes were a little annoying, it didn't hurt one bit (unless trying to eat hard food and something happened to get in there). No drugs, just a syringe and some salt water to clean the things out.
Then again, it only took ~15 minutes between the time they started and the time the last one was finished. In, out, done.
On the other hand, my sister was an idiot when she had hers pulled and didn't keep the areas flushed. Ended up with some nice infections
I've got a couple on the right side that have grown in a little sideways and dig into my cheek in the back. I deal with it because it costs too much to do anything about.
They're gonna tell you they need to come out no matter what, just so they can charge you, I think. 3 of my 4 are most of the way in. Except for a couple days of severe jaw muscle pain they haven't bothered me. I have a pretty bad underbite as well and they've told me that breaking bones is part of the process involved in fixing it. No thank you. I'm gonna leave mine go for as long as I can. Hell, my friend's dad lived to be 62 and never had any wisdom teeth problems.
I had mine done five years ago. I guess Ange had an aweful fight trying to keep me in the car on the way home. I kept trying to go 'feed the ducks' at this pond in Dartmouth where we used to go............ to feed the ducks. She was afraid I'd fall in. :giggle:
I only had three grow in(the fourth one never came) and had them all removed at once. They gave me a painkiller pen 15tail in the form of an I.V. It hurt a little the next day but, I ate solid food anyway because I was starving. They said I had to wait about 4-5 days to eat solid food. That didn't happen.
I had all 4 of mine pulled this past summer, two days after my knee surgery. I figured I'd get all the done at once and be done w/ it. They were all fully in, but one had gotten a bad cavity and had a nice hole in it, and had actually broken.
I had them put me out as I wasn't keen on hearing all the crunching, and I still wasn't in the best of moods after the knee surgery.
Once the holes stopped bleeding, the biggest pain in the butt was keeping the holes cleaned. I was on some mild painkiller/anti-inflamatory stuff for my knee, so I didn't take any extra stuff for the teeth. Really they never bothered me. Just more of a nuisance.
Right now the only part is the visible swelling, I look like a frickin chipmunk. I want stitches gone too, they are too much of a nuisance to eat anything.
I had all 4 of mine removed several years ago. They were in various states of impaction (How in the hell does a tooth grow at a 90 degree angle to the rest? :p )
I took one pain pill directly after the surgery and my mother made sure my face was wrapped up in bags of frozen peas. I felt 100% the next day and had very minimal swelling which was gone within 48 hours.
I think the key is to be very aggressive in icing the jaw to keep the swelling down.
I had no swelling and never iced them......
No stiches either.....just 4 gaping holes...
that why there isnt much wisdom around here its all been pulled out :flame:
