Title: Vibration...
Post by: SLEEPER T-BIRD 87 on December 25, 2005, 12:26:19 AM
ok this stang has a vibration when the engine is above 3,000 rpm it doesnt get worse with the car out of gear. but when at wot it seems to be worse when the car is in gear.

I have verified it has the correct balancer, flywheel etc.all u-joints are good with no play.

car is a 5 speed and has solid motor mounts and a rubber trans mount.

I expect a small amout of vibration but I call this excessive.

The car is on the lean side as far as fuel mixture.

I'm wondering, what year is the engine in the car?  Maybe they used an older block and crank but used a 82 flywheel with the 50oz balance as apposed to the 28oz balance?

It is a roller block. not sure on the crank but it does have a 1 peice main rear seal.

on a side note most of it is gone.. the motor/trans mounts were finger tight. along with the bellhousing bolts , starter bolts, and pedal assembly bolts.

I feel lucky to even be alive. I drove the car 150 miles home. then another 100 the next day. and about 400 more since i got it.

the main vibration was a fuel issue..... went to a larger carb. not spins 6,000+ with no vibration.
