was thinking about modifying the stock grill, or looking for a place that can make one. looking for something like the cobra grill inserts.

Good luck finding a supplier for aftermarket stuff. If you want something cheap, easy, and decent looking, try painting the grill your body color. It really changes the appearance. If you do so, make sure to take the emblem off first and reattach it later. Looks a lot cleaner.

Hmmm, I see spare grills on eBay for pretty cheap all the time. Maybe when I get paid next I'll buy one, since the chrome is starting to bubble on mine. Strip the old one, cut out the grid, and start fabbing up a bracket.

I can make you one. It will cost $100 shipped. It will be an open version similar to the Stang. Let me know

the grill is held on by a few screws and the emblem is held on by some of those stamped nuts...very easy

I too have painted mine body color, can't think of much more you can do the front end, and make it look any better. (except for driving lights) Grille is held on by three screws, and the emblem is held on by two. Stripping the chrome off is the pain in the ass, and I mean the Whole ass! :giggle: I used a little exacto knife, and then sanded it with progressivley?? finer grits of sandpaper, no primer, just 3 thin coats of gloss white, and has held for over 7 months, as I did this last April, not long after I got the car. Pic of it my cardomain, link in my sig: Thunderhawk

For my grill, I'm modding a cracked headerpanel from my accident. 5 dollars in fiberglass fixed it, but I wasn't gonna tell the insurance company not to buy me a new one. I'm closing the gap that used to be the grill, and using mesh. Then, I may see what I can do about an emblem. Probably backlight if I go with accent lights around the car. I haven't quite decided yet about the underbodies.

I didn't do mine body color, but when I smoked out my headlighhts I but a satin/semi gloss coat of black on the grill (I took off the emblem, then put it back after painting) and it looks pretty good. Check out my user ride pics here:http://foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=7396 (http://"http://foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=7396") I really like it. I did the same to the chrome mouldings around the windows and it all looks good together. Bye
