Title: Two of my cars in a video game
Post by: Cougars 2 go on December 07, 2005, 10:33:57 PM
Wow, something I am not used to with driving Lincolns and Cougars.

Not one, but TWO of the cars in my driveway are almost exactly replicated in the video game, Need for Speed Underground.

(Does anyone play that game?  My PS2 can go online but I've never looked into how.  It would be cool to play that with someone over the Internet.)

The 10th AE is the same color and generation but the game version has a hardtop and silver wheels.  Mine has a ragtop and polished wheels.

The Tiburon is EXACT, even the rear windshield wiper is there.

Yup played it beat it collecting dust now. Ya how do you get online with the PS2.

That would revive the entire game for me. Playing against actual people.

Well, I got online today.  A lot of those people seem like their cars have all the mods.  I only won two out of like five or six races.

Some background: my wife got this for me last Christmas and I just took the plastic off last weekend.  I started working the second job in February and I quit in September so I'm playing catch-up on all sorts of things.

Anywho, I've only just started to get some stage two stuff so if you beat the game, then I would not be much competition.

I've never been a big gamer, but my friend had a PS2 and he showed me GTA3.  I went out and bought a PS2 about two years ago just for that game.  Now I have a few more games, GT3 and GT4, GTA3 and GTA Vice City, Need for Speed Underground and a couple others.  So you can see, I don't have the "latest and greatest" but if anyone still goes online with NFSU, let me know.

slamedcat, do you have the network adapter for your PS2?  I set mine up today and it wasn't too difficult.

I used to play it on puter all the time. Most people online cheat. I had all mods and upgrades and special thingies and I still lost most of the time.

I don't have a PS2 router yet. Maybe thats why I havn't been on line.

If you like Undeground check out Most Wanted. Much better your points arn't calucalted on how much bling you have, and it has an open driving enviroment.

if the ps2 uses a regular connecter you should be able to hook it up to any router.

How can you tell if someone cheats?  One thing that gets annoying though is either my connection, theirs, or both makes the screen sort of freeze frame in split second captures as sort of a "hic-up" of sorts which screws me up.  Usually only happens when both cars are near each other.

I will say though, I have had a lot of people disconnect in the middle of a race - that's weak.

Look on the back of your PS2, do you see two RJ ports?  One's a phone-type jack (RJ11) and the other is an Ethernet port (RJ45).  The Ethernet port may have a sticker over it.

If anyone wants to jump online and run a few for fun, let me know.  I'll check here around 8:20 tonight EST and if so, I'll pop on the EA Games server that the NFSU game goes to and be in there under my user name.  (I've got my 10th AE tricked out. Pretty cool.)

Yeah I have Underground 1, and 2. Most Wanted looks cool. Basically the new ones upgrade to an open environment( free run all the time) the Most Wanted the cops are driving around i guess and they will impound your car. If I could get a network adapter I would play.

Theres more to it then that. You can set how big of a shot of N2O, you can change when the boost comes on, the ride height, brake bias.....

I'm about half way through it already.

I'm busy now but I wonder if there's any servers left where this game will work.  Does anyone know if this online capability goes away after a period of time?

Suprisingly the server is still up and running and there are people still on it.
