Title: Solid Motor Mounts?
Post by: bonestockcougar on December 07, 2005, 03:49:34 AM
Does anyone know if there is a company out there that makes solid motor mounts for an 88 cougar with a 302?

You can use solids made for ruststangs or go with polys.
Why do u want solid?

Why dont the mounts fit?
I have polys in my 85 and had them in my 83.
My 87 T bird has 5L HO from a stang and i had stang mounts in it.

I havent look to hard at the TC yet to see how K member looks.

The 83-85 Kmembers use the same mounts as a Mustang.  The 86-88's have a different K-member and thus different mounts.....

Your 87 5.0 should have the same K-member as the TC.  If you are not the original owner of the car, then I bet it was swapped.

Could have been swaped i realy dont know.
I pulled motor trany out of that car when it was wrecked and it was reused in my Cougar

All '86-'88 Birds/Cougs have a flat pad the motor mounts sit on, unlike the 45* angle pad the Stangs and earlier Birds/Cougs use...

I was able to get solid motor mounts from Napaonline. However, make sure that they send you the right part - they ended up sending me one solid one and one liquid filled one even though the paperwork said they had the same part number. :brick:

Mine were much cheaper than that...they were more like $12 each at advance...but that was like a year and a half ago.

Hey Chuck...in that pic, I'm guessing those are your Poly Mounts?  Could you send me a PM about them if you get a chance.

Thanks,
Don

Don't forget, Chuck, I want a pair of those too

I'm still trying to figure out how to convince you to market that IRS setup you've been working on. If you need any development help, I volunteer for cold weather durability testing - just send me an assembly and I'll let you know how it holds up. Hell, I'm feeling generous - I'll even pay the shipping :hick:
