or so i think
about a month ago, i went to the 1/8th mile track
and pulled 2, of what i think were fair times a 9.8, and a 9.9,
60ft time....i don't rember,
any how, after a nice cruise home, i pulled into the drive way, and i hear a tack tack tack tack tack noise....
couldn't figure it out...but was tired so i pulled #1 and #4 plugs....both clean as a freakin whistle, like too clean...they had about 500 miles on them, i'm not talking blown head gasket clean ( maybe i am, i didn't think of that)
but to clean like...no fuel/very little fuel
i have an 89 mustang, that i did a turbo and mani swap from a 88-TC, along with brown top injectors, and the ECU, and vane meter(which is another problem, i can hold the blend door open just a hiar more..at idle, and it smooths out..like brand new car, let it go, and it starts runnin rough)
so, STOCK N/A motor, with turbo'ed injectors..mani...ECU...vane meter and obviously turbo
sounds like maybe a bad vam if it smooths out when you hold the door open some.
heres a theroy,
when i did the swap, i only swapped the injectors, not the fuel rail,
would that have any thing to do with it ?! different fuel pressures ?!
did you change the fuel pump ... fuel rail is pretty much the same.
yes and no, i didn't use the t-bird pump,
i got the walbro 255LPH pump,
i don't under stand, i mean...with 9.5 to 1 comp..it should pull better than a 9.9 in the 1/8th mile no ??
what about fuel pressure regulator ! ?
wouldnt hurt to put in an adjustable unit.
9.9 is pretty good for a stock type setup with low boost. is it an auto?
no, t5 swap aswell
and i was running 7 lbs of boost, i know it's not a whole lot, but it's more than N/A
where could i get a cheapy fuel press reg ?!
holley makes a cheaper stlye one its like 50.00.
there is also some cheaper "knock offs" on e-bay also that are made like the aeromotive and such. do a search for 5.0 fuel pressure regulator:D
5.0's will fit on a 2.3' ?! REALLY ?! ...what should i set the fuel pressure at ?! ...
i'd probably need a fuel pressure gauge....and setup the O2 sensor wire trick ?! to moniter A/F ratio ?!
yes the 86-93 fpr's are the same as the 2300.
I would suggest a gauge. and to set the fuel pressure about 45 psi with the line off. and see how it runs.
..with the line off, what do you mean by that ?! ..
wouldn't this be easy if this site had a chat room ?!
the vaccumme line to the regualtor port
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8015648453&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
boost sensitve ?! meaning ...more boost more fuel ?! wouldn't that screw up if it went to to much ...or is that the way to go ?!
yes all regulators are boost sensitive when connected to a boost source. they ussually raise pressure on a 1:1 ratio meaning 1psi boost raises the pressure by 1 psi also
that accufab is a good regulator and you can adjust it with the vaccume line on. ;)
ok, now i know i have to get some things !! ...any idea on where i could get an aluminum billet flywheel ?!
should i also be running the next colder plugs ?! for my motor,...or the 88 TC motor plugs ?! ....
hows about a boost controler ?! where can i get on cheap ! ?
I would not use one on your car.
you need to use the t/c specific plugs. DO NOT USE PLATINUM PLUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do a search for a GILLIS valve. over at http://www.turboford.org
Be aware anything over 10psi is dangerous teritory on a N/A 2.3 engine.
we'll I 'll tell you to get the autolite or NGK plugs the autolite number is 764. As for your boost controller I say make your own. I made mine for about $10.
