First up, the car is not mine...I am passing this info along after communicating with both Andrew (4thqtr) and the owner of the car.
1985 SAGE GREEN COUGAR
3.8 L V6 automatic, 71k actual miles
Four excellent tires P205/70R14, lots of tread left, 2 are almost new Goodyear Weatherhandlers
Brand new battery & ler
Body, except for se/dent on passenger door and a few rust chips, is in excellent shape. It was garaged for most of it's life. Interior is in good shape. Has vent windows, tan leather interior, optional console (column shifter).
The following is from the owner:
After talking to Christopher, it sounds like the car needs a fuel pump relay and/or ignition switch to keep the battery from draining. Easy fix. Also, since the car does not have OD and is a C5, it should just need a vacuum modulator to gain 3rd gear back.
Car is located in Alexandria, VA. Price is BEST OFFER.

Eric (man, I love that name!),
I've got to say, I've never seen that color on a Cougar. I really like it! Must have been a little rare. Aside from that, it's a very nice car. Leather seats, vent windows (but an buttstuffog clock). I thought they quit putting full-length consoles in Cougars after '84, bucket seats or not. I'm kinda surprised it doesn't have an AOD in it. It seems that if the car came pretty optioned-up otherwise, it would have gotten the premium tranny. Even though the C5 was the standard tranny with the V6's, I thought that the majority still got an AOD, anyway. That's a biggie with me right now, as I would rather have fuel mileage than tire-burning HP. Wish I could buy that car, but with 2 non-runners already occupying the driveway and no $$ in the bank, well, you know.....

I hear ya bro. If this was a V8 car, I'd be on my way to VA right now with a truck and a trailer. ;)
Sage Green is a very uncommon color for 1985 only. We've talked about it a few times here on the board...some people like it, some don't. I personally have seen only one Sage Cougar in my lifetime. It's that rare. This particular car has desirable features too: the full console was an option for 1985-88 base and LS cars. That makes leather tan buckets a fairly uncommon option as well. The standard trans for all V8 cars was the AOD, but it was optional on V6 cars through 1986.
If I only had my Mom's cougar back. Had no idea the color was that rare. It was base model LS....
Thinking about painting my 86 that color...we'll see
I've recently been contacted by Chris (the seller). Unfortunately, the car has been slated for the crusher. He says $200 will buy this car. Someone please save her! :D
Thanks for saving me the effort to dig up this thread, Andrew. ;)
Yeah, if someone can handle another car, this is a hell of a buy. Hopefully it won't get crushed...
The interior alone is worth $200. I hope someone gets this.
TOM, you are close aren't you?
Claude, you wanted an 83-86 didn't you? you should snag this one up!
If it was an 83-84 I'd be on it like stink on sh#t.
If it was anywhere in the Great White North I'd be all over it myself. I can't believe nobody has bought this car yet! Hell, for $200 you'd probably triple your money in a week by selling it on eBay
While Cougars aren't really my cuppa tea..(the roofline, quarter wondows)
I'd go for this one if I had the $...
Well, maybe I can save it for us. I called and left a message.
why can't these things be near me. I would have bought it. I have $200 but no way to get out to VA:mad:
My 86' LS came with an anolog clock. I WANT THAT CAR. PLEASE.
Well, I was able to talk to him so we'll see if any of this can work out.
I had totally forgot about this car. I had the first response to Eric's post back in November. I really want that car! Anybody in the hauling business? Where is Alexandria? Isn't that close to DC? It's got all the cool options I like; leather, vent windows, console, and a color that you probably won't see anywhere else. Aren't there any members in that neighborhood? Seems like the majority of us are from IL, MO, OH, and you guys north of the border. I know one like that will never crop up anywhere close to me.
Hey, on the V6 cars without AOD, do the rear ends tend to be high-geared, like 2.73's? My '84 V6 AOD has a 3.27, and my '83 V6 AOD has a 3.08, which if I keep, is getting a 3.55 TC posi disc brake rear axle.
Somebody get that car, and then take a drive to east central IL for me. I'd put one of my AOD's in it.
Don't let it croak!

Yes, Alexandria is very close to DC. It's about 30 minutes away from where my family is in Maryland (also a suburb of DC). As luck would have it (or my luck anyways), I'm stuck in Philly right now so I'm pretty much useless in trying to save this car. Hopefully Karl (Cougars 2 Go) can work something out with the seller and get this car in the community.
Yeah, I talked to him yesterday and he is going to get with the current owner of the car about transport and things of that nature and get back with me some time this week to figure out the details of getting it to my house.
CHIT!!! That would compliment my Birdie like nothin' else could.
And I can't get to it.mannnnn
Guess who turned 80 today????
.
Not bad! Glad you're getting good use out of her.
I added some pictures and updates to his Cardomain page.

All the compliments at Cat Jam were very much appreciated. I'm glad I was able to give this car a chance.
Ooooh... now I remember this car. :D
Wow Carl, that car looks awesome. I think you should sell it to me one day.
It's my widdle special orphan adopted kitty. I've grown attached to it now. I have to protect it from the big 'ol world of car hackers.
I'm messed up :screwy:
I know. I saw the pictures. :hick:
seriously though. If you ever decide you want to let it go in the future, I'd be interested, and no, I would not change a thing on it.
