Just picked up an '87 Cougar LS tonight. So far I like it. EFI 302. 94K miles. Fully loaded.

The stereo crackles when you turn the volume . I have a factory stereo that I pulled out of my '88 Grand Marquis this summer. They look the same (tape deck/stereo). Are they interchangeable? Does the '87 Cougar have the same ground system that the '88 Grand Marquis has? If I try it, will it in anyway risk effecting the digital dash?

Gah! Search. I'm so excited about my "new" car I forgot. Thanks. :)

I'll have to check to see if my Cougar has Premium sound. The stereo from my '88 GM had Premium.
