Title: Trunk Springs
Post by: sscobrapride on November 11, 2005, 04:14:03 PM
Hi, I'm a long time lurker but I never post. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had done something with the trunk to keep it up.  I put some rubberized coating in the edges to prevenet rust, and now it's heavy enough that it won't stay up. I noticed there were springs inside in an "X" but I'm not quite sure how to work it.  Anyone else have a similar problem/solution?

Go to the salvage yard and check some of the newer cars out.A lot of them use little struts for lifting the trunk lid and holding it up.I've seen many with brackets that can be easily removed and adapted to our cars with a little work.

thats what i have been debating about. but i do need a new trunk lid before i decide that. the reason why i whanna do it is so i can fit my sub box in the trunk the right way. and with those trunk bars in the way i can't do it.
