look what i found tonight hows this for luck?
I'd say you had a oil problem(or lack of).
i would say so also but it held 70-80 psi cold and 35-45 when hot@2,000 rpm 10-15 at idle
forgot to mention on #8 only also
Is this on your 429? Did you have to pull the engine to get it out of there. Bummer!
Looks to me that maybe you had something in there when it went togther.
TED
yeah , it was a fight to get the pan off. the tubular k-member is a god send.
it should be back together soon just got to find the cause of the problem
429s and 460s both have oil probs.
There are a few tricks to making the bearings last.
WELL GUYS, found the problem obviously wasn't one that jumped right out. they are mahle bearings
well heres the part number on the bearings that are in there
bb617
what is suposed to be in there is
bb618j
i have one 618j and one 617 they are differant and not the same but yet close enough no to tell while installing. I really hope that the rest are all 618's .
I will go pickup the CORRECT bearings tommorow screw mahle im going back to clevite77
Hope so too.
My Buddy has a 460 built by Jon Kaase that is just sick and makes 800+HP on pump gas. But b4 Jon rebuilt this motor he would have to change the bearings every year. Since Jon has built it and reworked the oil systom he has put 3 years on the motor b4 he did a ring and bearing to it.
The Motor is in a very clean 66 fairlane that runs low 10s on a 30inch tall ET street.
cool, theres a pretty good differance in the bearings i hope this is all the problem as the old bearings i took out before looked great
N/A? How much does one of them cost?
theres a motorsport 514- 600h/p on e-bay for 7,995
well guys ordered the new bearings today hope to have them by mid week and be at the track again friday night...... hope .....
