Thats the Summit digital gauge set... it sucks
I should clean up this car a bit.
We did slap this car together in a weekend.
Even had the G teck stuck in there.
speakin of gauges i need to get myself a boost gauge
pssh who needs a center console right?
I have 2 just to lazy to put one in,
Plus the T bird came with power seats that have that gay ass console built into them. It went out as fast as old motor did.
I just have a single pillar pod, i dont have any pics handy as of yet
Hey, I tried to get some pictures tonight, but it wasnt happening with the flash, so I will get you some good ones tomorow. I got a dual a-pillar pod (installed finally), and a tach on the column. Hang on for pictures...

Why do you say this? I just purchased one for mine and mounted it but I have not hooked it up yet. I mounted mine behind the panel.

This is mine...dual pillar pod, Autogage tach on the column (you can just barely see it), triple panel in the center console.
Looks good like that on the pillar.
I will start talking my 85 apart and sing the body.
I will do up the 87TC over the winter now.
Full Auto Meter Pro-Comp silvers: :flip: ;)

that looks great. Now if I can only convince the wife that a new interior is needed since the car has fairly fresh paint and a new motor.

this is off topic, but Glen, is that a dead pedal?
Does Mr. Coolcats and the Hawk still have turn signal indicators?
I do for sure...I hacked up an old TC cluster and just reused the turn signals, high beam indicator, brake light, and seat belt light.

Wiring...that was not fun:

Cools, that's what I want to do. :)
I imagine the wiring for that gauge setup did suck...hell the wiring for my 3 gauge panel was worse than I expected. When you have 4 or 5 wires per gauge, you end up with a whole lotta freakin wires to run.
Bet you wernt able to put the clear plastic from the old gauges over the new gauges were ya. I have been working on a way to get the gauges to mount so I can still have that plastic over the top but its been a little difficult. I have just been too busy having fun with BOOST:D One of these days I will have to finish mine because Autometer gauges look sweet.
ALl the setups posted all looked good.
Mine looked like @ss LOL
Idea was there :)
Nope, won't work...even if it did, there'd be a hole in the plastic somewhere that you just can't cover up. :) I don't know why but it seems like that plastic just attracts the dust anyway, with static electricity. Even in a convertible I've cleaned the gauges way less with them out in the open, than with the stock/buttstuffog gauges behind acrylic.
,looks like I'm going to have to make a new instrument cluster. Thanks a lot you guys.
Yes it is....came in VERY handy for track days when I had the stock seats.
Yep.....like Eric, I hacked up a factory setup for my Auto Meter gauges. I maintained all the factory warning lights, hi-beam indicator and turn signal indicators. The only difference really between Eric and my setup is the amount of gauges. I did a mock up first with 6 gauges like Eric did but I guess because of my height (6' 3") and my preferred seating position, no matter how I positioned them I couldn't see the two upper gauges as they would be blocked by the steering wheel so I went with 4 instead.
I've noticed the same thing.....it keeps very clean compared to when the plastic cover was there.
Glen, I'm 6'0" and have a hard time seeing the gauges too, even the stock ones. I kept monkeying around with ideas for the new gauges and was going to do what you did. Then it hit me: countersink the bottom two gauges. That allowed me to keep the stock configuration, and all the new gauges in their same places, and still see them all. Even though I have to slightly stoop a little to see the top gauges behind the wheel, I'm happy that I did what I did. Just had to be a little patient with the Dremel tool. ;) I love your setup though. Very clean and straightforward with nothing to obscure your view. Cool.
I say.. Kudos to the both of ya. Same ideas, Different execution and they both ended up looking great.
well, mine arnt anything like that :D , lol but here they are...

there's mine...I'll try to get better pics
For you guys with the pillar pods, what part # did you use, or where did you get them? I am considering using one for my guages. I have seen some on e-bay and in summit but I wasn't sure which ones worked best for our cars. Thanks, jason
I dont know the part number, but the ones that work best for our cars are the 94-98 Mustangs, dont get the full pillar, just the pod that screws on
heres mine:
pillar pod users. Electric or mechanical bc ive got mechanical gages and was wanting to run them on the pillar. oil and watter would be the ones i will run.
my boost gauge is mechanical, but its just a rubber hose
oil should be fine, as long as you have a good bit of slack in the hose, im not sure about water
well i'll find out how hard it is some time after tuesday is when i get my pillar pod
I originally had a mechanical oil pressure gauge (for my center console, not pillar) but decided to sell it and get an electric because I really didn't feel like dicking around with the capillary tubing to hook it up. Wires are so much easier to run.
I have a summit A/F gauge, and the rich and lean lights just quit working, all I have is the Air/Fuel light and the bars working.
