Nothin' to see here - aside from some electrical mods it's 100% stock, and I purposefully did the mods so that they look factory (there are more wire looms than there's supposed to be)

Put on Cobra valve covers to go with the polished Cobra manifold.
Some blue wire looms, repainted the bay white and painted other stuff that needed it either black or silver.

Just cause I wanted them. I didn't want the original SO or HO style anymore nor did I want plain or ones that said like edelbrock or something. My only Ford aftermarket options were either Ford Racing (which I'm not too thrilled about, rather have "Ford Motorsport"), the Mustang ones, or the Cobra ones. So the Cobra's it was. Since I have the manifold and don't plan on changing its Cobra badging, I thought... why not?

Wish they had one specific for Mercury or Lincoln but since most modified Fords are Mustangs, I guess that will not happen. I'm working on a set of custom ones by modifying the original HO VC's. Depending on how they turn out, I might put them on in place of the Cobras.

Well I guest its about time I break out some twin turbo pictures before I wreck another set of head gaskets. Who knew engines were so touchy when you push 13psi threw them but hey theres nothing like burning the tires through 3rd gear either. I will have to find the digital camera and get a few snap shots for you guys.

i get to do this a few more times after this

3.8L a while back. Since then, the valve covers rusted, as did the air cleaner base (when i overheated the car, i surpassed the heat the clearcoat could handle.)

and the TC

over the next few months, both engine bays will change, but the 3.8L will go through some very drastic changes ;)

The 3.8 car will become a fuel injected 5.0, and the engine bay will look totally different, because im looking to do some stuff that hasnt been done too much in the community as of yet. Only two or three people know my ideas, so we'll see how it pans out before i acually post and tell about it.

The turbo car isnt getting too much engine bay wise, mostly cleaning up, and a panel made to mount some stuff, and ill be ditching the timing belt cover eventually.

Shawn........

Ever hear of  Chapman Lok, Z-Lok,  or in my case Maxi-Lok?

Basically what you see is part of the aftermarket anti theft lock.  They were installed by lots of dealers, stereo shops in the 1980-1990 timeframe before Lojack.  I used to park in a high theft area and wanted some protection, plus the insurance discount.

Basically depending on how it was wired it would disable the starter,  ignition, or fuel system, and the cable, and plunger you see went into another bracket on the hood so the hood could not be opened.  This made the defeating the disable wiring more difficult.  It is a push lock, and unlocked with a barrel shape key in the passenger compartment under the dash.

Dude, that kicks ass.  I've been casually planning my engine transplant that I will do in a few years and someone plugged the thought of putting a GM drivetrain in my car because you get more bang for the buck.

Cougars 2 go, the swap all depends on how you are at making thing and how good of welder you are.  I don't think it would be any harder than the 460 swap and it's a lot lighter.  You can email me if you want to know more.

Caddy engines are cool. I remember a guy i know had a '74 Fleetwood Brougham with the 500, and the engine bay was wall-to-wall engine, and it was a BIG engine bay!

It's really funny to hear GM guys talking about the Caddy "502" - I'll never know how that extra 2 cubic inches got tacked on there, though it may be due to the 502 Rat crate engine

Unfortunately gas is still over $3.80 a gallon here, so I don't think a big block of any kind will ever find its way into my car...

:giggle: nah  thats because most people that owned or thought they knew all about caddy motors think it's a 502 but in realality the only motors they made from the factory and this is from the early sixtys thats as far back as i know is..
early to mid late 60's 429' and which some did come with a tri power carb setup, and in the late 60's made the 472's and in the early 70's to the mid 70's made the 500 not a 502!!! from there came the 425's and the 368's and the 368 came in the elldo's untill the early 80's and the 368,425,425,472,and the 500 where the same size block either stroke and bored or desroked and underbored from the factory.. not custom.. ;) the custom aftermarket bore and stroke was made first in the late 80's by cadillac motorsports and where in the mid to high 500 cubes..

Well there was a thread on here about the Ls1 swap into a sn95 fox .  All in all the same thing.  From what I read on the site all you have to do is elongate two holes and relocate a small tab on each motor mount.

i put a sbc in an 85 coupe mustang i had a year or so ago was good for 7.17 1/8 mile for not alot of cash

the lt1 the pass motor mount is 1" reward of the normal sbc relation

the ls1 i belive is the same way

Some 1982-84s with dealer air and some 85s/86s came with this setup. I just ripped one from a JY for $15. It is almost a direct bolt-in. You need a new high-pressure PS hose.

The engine bay right now....and what's goin back in.....
Gotta put the new valve covers on then drop her in.
Gonna do all the fuel lines/vacuum lines/upper intake and attachments once back in the car.....
And yes the Fram oil filter is gonna go before I start her up.  The parts store was out of my Purolator Pure One's......

im wondering if im the only cougar on here thats not running an ac pump or smog pump, both are removed with all the plumbing to make it cleaner and lighter... not to mention easier for the engine to spin...

Nope, smog pump is removed on mine. The only reason I still have the ac compressor is because it will make one bad ass air pump when I put air bags in.
