Doin the mass air conversion with the parts upgrades I plan on starting tomorrow. Browsing through coolcats I found this:
I'm using my stock 87 Cougar harness with the new C3W1 Computer.
I'm assuming this means I have to re-pin these particular items, correct?
Yes you should move the terminals.. If you have some spare EEC terminals they can be added to positions #38 & #32 and then spliced into #51 & #11. Thats how mine is and there has never been a problem. As stated the connection to pin #19 is optional, but I'd connect it to keep from getting a fault code.
BTW the Mass Air conversion from Ford Racing states nothing about moving or adding any connections(I have the paperwork). When I got the Blue 5.0 with the FR kit installed, it was full of codes because none of the wiring changes had been made.
I noticed that same thing as well..... Is the re-pin due to the harnesses (cougar to mustang)being different or was this a change to the ECM that was made after speed density was phased out?
The re-pin is due to the EEC pin out being different from SD to MA. The same changes are necessary on a Mustang..
