Title: Back from Montreal
Post by: Thunder Chicken on October 14, 2005, 10:44:30 AM
The concert was wicked. I only wish I could have spent more time in Montreal to look around.

...And the T-Bird performed flawlessly. 2500 kilometers, 250 litres of gas, 30 hours' driving (including driving around the city). The only problem with the car was that just when I got into the city the driver's window came off its track, so now I've gotta fix it.

The trip up I drove rather slowly, trying to conserve fuel. The tripminder reported an average economy of 28.5 MPG for an average speed of 110km/hr (70 MPH).

On the way home I was in "Economy be ed, I just wanna get home" mode, and also in "When in Quebec, drive as Quebecers do" mode, so I averaged 140-150 km/hr (85-90 MPH). The tripminder reported an average economy of 24.1 MPG for the return trip.

So there you have it - my completely unscientific testing methods show that I sacrificed 4.4 MPG for an extra 15-20 MPH. The car also burned a litre of oil over the trip (it has never burned a drop before, but it's normal for engines to burn more oil at sustained high speeds) but I got home quicker, so it was worth it :D

I told ya Judas Priest would kick some ass:D ! I don't think my 5.0 Bird has ever gotten mileage like that. Of course I have 3.73 gears and a slightly heavy foot;) .
