Odd...very odd...
hmmm... a Mark IX? I guess that's better than nothing.
Interesting, but probably nothing that will materialize.
not to mention the concept will be sweet like the proposed tbirds and then the actual release will be a peice of sh@.
i know i couldnt aford it anyway.
The old Mk IX concept.

I stoped paying attion as soon as i got to ( Ford Motor Co. is considering making )
As soon as i see that ford is considering to make something I know its ether BS or will not happen in 10 years.
So why wast time reading waiting and wondering.
That would suck if Lincoln got a Mustang based coupe before or instead of Mercury.
That's why I posted this, Jim! :) From a real-world POV it makes much more sense for Mercury to have a coupe before Lincoln.
Also keep in mind that we're but a few months away from the Detroit Auto Show. Hidden within that article is more subtext...will we see a Mustang-based prototype at that show? Did Ford already give the go-ahead to Lincoln and not Mercury? Or are both on hold? We'll know something in the next few months, anyway.
Well ford always thinks of its self frist.
Rember way back when they were going to bring back the Cougar.
What did we get, Ford Merc style of a cavalier.
Just remember, the Mark VII, even though it came out in '84, was actually designed before the 83 T-Bird and Cougar...
Unless Mercury really is on its way out.
Assuming I could afford either, I wouldn't mind either car.. a Stang-based Merc or Lincoln, that is. Would probably take the Lincoln in a money-is-no-object hypothetical situation, though.
a new mercury capri would be cool i guess...
Remember the song goes "Hot rod
Lincoln" not Mercury.
Considering that Lincoln became part of the Ford family before Mercury I say Lincoln has dibs.
Capri or Cougar.. I'd take either name.
Well i believe a different song goes "i'm gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road"
So if ford's marketting department were to compate the 2 songs to make their decision.. I think the obvious choice would be to make the mercury first because according to the song.. it'll make sales.
:flip:
:rollin: you Alan Jackson:rollin:
Almost forgot about that one.
But they already used that tune to sell their trucks. Remember the "Gonna buy me a Ford Truck" commercials some years back?
:flip:
Not quite as interested in that one.. but maybe.
They could always call it the Marauder. It just might be worthy of the name.....
A new Comet would be really cool. I've always had a soft spot for those cars, especially the '64s.
Personally I think Mercury got its chance at a Mustang based coupe and messed that shot up with the Marauder, for some reason they went with a 4-door more family practicle model, and it didnt last but what a year..Same thing with the charger, its doing much better than the marauder did already but I think it would have a better chance had they called it the "2006 Intrepid"
Im not dissin either, I would rock a Marauder or a Charger SRT-8 in a minute, if I had the cash to just throw away like a celebrity. Both beautiful cars but the charger should have been called a redesigned Intrepid and the Marauder should have been made with double the HP to both sky rocket sales in my opinion. Either way, mine or Peg's next vehicle isnt going to be Ford, Mercury, or a Lincoln...
your going to get a kia arnt you:)
my thoughts on it is i have never seen ford go all out on performance. they do a lil with the mustang but its like you need to get a cobra to get really alot of power. i mean i was hoping they would come out with a 2 door taurus and call it a falcon. they never marketed the marauder to be a performance car same with the SHO or most of there car. they dont even market the mustang to be performance becuase they know that if a charger, camaro, firbird ever pulled up next to it they would smoke it.
what im trying to say is ford is more for styling then performence so i dont see this going anywhere. it also doesnt help that gas is going up.
I have my doubts. I just don't see a domestic two-door luxury RWD nameplate making it in today's car market.
