I had a '79 model XR-7.Moon roof, bucket seats, power everything.Great car.Good luck with yours.Parts are getting harder and harder to find.I saw a '78 T-Bird at the salvage yard a few days ago.Very good shape, just not running.I had installed the T-Bird fenders on my Cougar because I like the vents on them. They're the same car basically.

Looks like Boats are us.
just kidding there good cars to get motors from.
I have seen a few of the big style cars like that done for lowriders or done with BBs.  As for a car to drive every day U need a big @ss sticker that say,

U are My Crumple Zone

88turbo,
I think you might have responded to a thread of mine a while back about each of us having an '88 TC and a '77 Cougar.  I still love the '77-'79 Cougar XR7's and hope to have another one someday.  So are you rebuilding the blue one, or just stealing the motor out of it for something else?  I hope you tell me you're rebuilding the '77.  I know they're some huge cars, but I can't recall ever seeing someone actually build one to be a hot rod with serious HP.  Best of luck with the project.  Make sure to post pics if or when you get it put back together.  Later.

lol I am redoing both of them.  the engine is an 80k mile 400 that I got for free yes free.  they are both 79 XR7's.  as far as the paint job on the engine its not done :hick:  I am going to build the blue one over the winter with the edelbrock performer kit that jegs has.  any ideas?  the blue car has stayed pretty much the same since I bought it in the summer of 2000
