Title: alternator amperage question
Post by: Temp on October 06, 2005, 05:22:52 PM
For the life of me I can't find any info on the actual out put of the 2.3 turbo engines amperage.  I need to get a new voltage regulator but without the correct amerage it won't be much help. any ideas of where to look?  Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's 75 amps.

Do the 3G 130 amp alternator swap.VERY easy, and all the power you need.

the procedure above is for a swap into an 86-93  Th only difference is yours is a v-belt and will probably require a different bracket.

I just got finished with the swap (literally),and it seems great.I haven't been able to drive it yet,but I let it run for about 15 minutes, checked the lights and so on.I'll drive to work in the morning for a real test.It was actually very easy, and not very time consuming.

You need the bracket from a Mark VII, they used the "big" 100a alt...

Just do the 130amp conversion, its very easy once you figure out the wiring that needs to be messed with

I could probably do the conversion in a half an hour if i were to do it again
