Title: When they say accidents happen close to home...
Post by: Tbird232ci on September 28, 2005, 11:44:14 AM
THEY WERNT LYING

yesterday, i had my cars shuffled around my driveway, since im working on getting the red bird spotless to cover it for the winter, and hopefully have it ready for swapping engines come spring time

well, my dad comes home, im sitting in the living room, he walks through and i say "whats up Paw", and his voice crackled and he studdered and said "i hit your car", i thought he was joking, went out and saw his bumper was a little messed up and his corner light was broken, and my car was about 30ft from where i was standing, i looked up, and my door was rippled, so i was like " dad, you ****ED my door up", and he thought he hit my rear quarter and just nudged it

turns out, when he came down the driveway, he got my entire door, and pushed my car over a good 3 inchs since it was sitting in a little bit of mud

heres the pics of the damage

a local guy (motormenace) has a door for me, my dad and i will discuss what we're going to do about paint

That just plain old suck. But could have been worse. Try having the front end of the car hit and replacing the nose.

. shiznitty luck, Shawn. At least it's just the door, and not the quarter. Bolt on vs. extensive body work/welding. So, what colour are you looking at? ;)

the nose of the car is already tweaked, the passanger side of the radiator support is pushed own about 1/2", and the inner fender is bent accordingly

i plan on keeping it the stock color ;)

i dont feel like painting the jams, engine bay and all that

still not sure if im painting the whole car, or the door or what, ill discuss it with my dad

he got the rear 1/4, but not bad at all, it just kinda flattened part of the lower, so its nothing major

So you never did give us your father's explanation for hitting your car. Stationary targets aren't worth any points at all...

old man with two canes is worth 100 point if you can keep him on your hood for 10 seconds

you could paint it red like your v-6(soon to be 5.0?) and only have to register one or the other ;) . I do rather like that shade of grey though. Also nothing wrong with keeping it origonal.

two canes! thats a 100 point bonus, though you lose the bonus if it is in a crosswalk.

basically, my cars were shuffled around the driveway, its hard to explain it if you havnt been in my driveway, pictures dont explain it well either

but anyways, my driveway goes downhill, then banks to the left, well, he was my TC wasnt parked in the normal spot, so he assumed i was gone, he came partway down the driveway, and saw my red bird off to the left down the driveway and focused on it while turning left, then hit my car

his vision isnt the greatest, and he's slowly getting tunnel vision (some of it is him not paying attention), so he just didnt see my car

Ahh... That's still not as funny as my ex girlfriend that tore the door off her car while backing out of her driveway with her father watching. She had her door open and was looking back, and so nervous about her father watching, that she failed to notice she was too close to the house. As soon as the door made contact she panicked and floored it. The door was peeled right off. Luckily, it was only a Hyundai Pony...

Don't tell me. You duct taped it back on, and the car still runs today. :giggle: Good ol' Korean Chevette.

Oooo that sucks big ones. If my dad did that to my car, he'd be owing me a new paint job. If you get the new door painted only, it will be soooo obvious that it will look rediculous. Get the whole thing painted the original color. Your interior is in great shape and the  engine bay looks great. Slap paint on that thing and it would look awesome.

he's trying to dick me around now

if this shiznit doesnt get fixed, i will end up fighting him, he's ****ed me over so many times, my own father has screwed me over, i have ****ed up credit, lost two cars, didnt go to school, and a bunch of other shiznit because of him, and if he doesnt fix my car, i will seriously fight him, he's ****ed my life over enough, and a little corner light on his beloved 89 Tbird isnt the only thing that will need to be replaced after this incident

it might come down to something like that sadly...

my dad is trying to go cheap on me, he wants to rattle can my door and call it done

if i bring the insurance company into this, which i dont want to do because of the rates jumping up, but theyd see that no matter what, the door will never match, no matter what professional does the car, and almost every panel of the car is a slightly different shade since it sat out for years before i got it

well, the car looked fine, while it didnt look great with clearcoat peel, it didnt look like shiznit, and if he rattle cans the door, which he's horrible at anyways, it will look like shiznit, and its his responsibility to make the car look right, just as it did before he hit it

he ****s up MY car, and wants ME to take a loss? no way in hell is that going to happen, he even says "i wasnt paying attention", put that on a police report, send it to the insurance company, and it would be all his fault, especially since my car was parked

this might be the last straw, if he tries to screw me over like he has been for the past 20 years, i might end up picking up and leaving, going somewhere,  i dont know where, but he's helpless without me here, and i wont come and help him, because he wont fix what he needs to, he's more wrapped up in his firebird

my car has a fubar'd door, and all he's concerned with is installing a radio in that POS firebird, a car that isnt driving, and isnt road worthy, but he doesnt want to fix a car that is road worthy and a daily driver that his dumb ass ****ed up

i really pissed off, and this might be what makes my mom and I move out of here
