Just figured i'd post up my soon to be winter car(will post pics soon).
1991 Thunderbird super coupe.
Full load inc moon roof,black on black leather.
Car has 132000km's on it,picking it up for 500 bucks.
Now i have driven the car and it drives and shifts well(auto),also boosts which is good,no smoke out of the tails,another good sign,and the interior is in great shape for leather.
Why for a winter car you ask,well the body is ruff in the rear(pass 1/4 has a 3" hole in it and the rear rocker is shot, 6"hole and some rocker missing under the skirt,drs 1/4 has about 4 rust spots,nothing some filler won't fix) not worth a resto,plus i have brand new blizzacks for it already.
For 500 to buy,another 200 to safety/lisc and a few hundred in parts i should be on the road for a G note,not bad i figure. :canada:
Not bad indeed, although my memories of driving an MN12 'bird in the winter are not pleasant ones. Even with the shiznitty N/A 3.8 those things have serious traction issues - I could spin the right rear of mine all day on dry pavement. On wet, or especially on ice or snow, it was a beast.
True they do have some traction issues but at least it will be rwd/posi/abs and have blizzacks,all winter ++'s.
Drove my last 88 bird every year in the winter for 7yrs(which probably led to it's demise) and it was mint with the blizzacks,stuck like glue.
Can't bear to drive my low mileage rust free TC in the winter(did it last year,not again)so in comes the mn-12.
