They make the kits for the Mustangs,so perhaps it could be adapted.

Go to v6mustang.com There is a guy there who has kits for lamost everything and can custom make them too. If you need a group buy, keep me informed. His kit is around $700. Coul be cheaper, I dont remember exactly.

I dunno I hit my head on the roof and it is already a pain to get out of. Sorry but being 6'4 and over 200 punds I dont think that that is a mod that would be usefull to me at least. Might look cool

with our doors i would be afraid of the hinges ripping out of the door frame.

Considering one of Fords greatest atributes is its door fit (they close with a feather light click, and don't hang down like a Monte, always keeping their lines) I'd be pretty hard pressed to mess with perfection.

Yes, I used the word perfection while describing a Ford. :grinno: Go figure.

:iagree:  the only cars that I saw with lambo doors that might of looked good were the ones that were completely chopped up at the lowrider shows and they still looked bad

Folks have been watching too much Unique Whips

The past three times I've cruised past that stupid show, that dumb  had "lamboed" another car....lemmings......

looks like it would make it even harder to get out in a hurry if you need to.. and if those shocks fail...  I'm sure all of us have opened one of those hoods or tail gates held up by those and had them fall on our heads...  imagine a door.  no thanks

http://daytonimports.com/100_0437.MOV looks like a retarded door that can move up. Honestly I see no reason for it.

Being different is what makes us all unique and interesting. Just one more thing that can set us apart from others. Heck if I wanted to be like everyone else I would drive a completely stock bird. Raise your hand if you have COMPLETELY stock bird-no mods. Thats what I thought :)

These days, Lambo doors doesn't set you apart. It makes you another guy who put Lambo doors on his car.

And my car isn't completely stock. Mostly stock, but not completely stock. ;)

To me, it seems similar to claiming that doing the HO swap makes you "different". Sure, it's something that didn't come from the factory.. but if plenty of other people are doing it, (and in the case of the lambo doors, maybe not done to these cars much yet.. but to plenty other makes and models) it's not very "different".

It's not being different when you follow the new fad......

My cars aren't stock either, but I also don't bother with excessive visual mods......

Besides, on this board....a stock TBird/Cougar would be different ;)

At least we're talking about a 2-door.  I can't tell you how many Neon's I've seen on thier message boards with "Lambo/Scissor" front doors and regular stock rear doors.  Looks dumb and unbalanced.

How about the ones with the motorized split hoods?  :barf:

I still say gull wings are the way to go on a t-bird. I've seen it done but I don't know the details. It was late 80's or early 90' so details are vague. I seem to remember the car being from Ca.

When I think "different" regarding T-birds/Cougars and doors, I think of my idea to try to make RX8-style suicide mini-doors on an '83-86. (think the rear window would be too big on the '87-88 and the Mark) But I'm sure someone would find that annoying and offensive, too. :p

now suiside doors would look good on our cars... they are so long.. that would be cool.

I Did Think About That Once Suicide Rear But I Think Gull Wings Would Be Awsome..i Did A Photo Shop With Lamboes On My 87 Cougar And Didnt Like Them At All.maybie Ill Try Gullwings Tonight

yah, but our roof would need some major support to hold up or doors with out some major lightening to the door itself.

I'd save my energy and maybe try some T-tops. Funky Cricket has a good point, and I'm not even remotely interested in making my T-bird 100lbs heavier.

I could think of another word for silly but since this is a family site.....

Lambo doors.....yet another "unique styling" fad that we'll all laugh at in 5 years ( I'm not waiting....I already laugh at it :yuck: )

Hawk, not many people can say they have a bird as nice as yours, so if suicide doors make me a slight bit cooler than you, darnit, I'm gonna do it. :) LOL

Suicide doors would probably look good on a T-Bird, but the whole flip out and up lambo type door craze that all started in the tuner car scene looks retarded.

Actually, they weigh 98 LBS each WITHOUT glass, power window motors, wiring, mirrors, door panels, etc. That box weighed another 87 LBS. So, theyr'e about 145 LBS each, loaded. :D

I know whatya mean, I just stripped my maroon '88, and was really surprised by how much the doors weighed...
No wonder these V6 cars really are slugs, guess I need to put the thing on a diet...

Shipping TBird parts makes one knowledgable about how heavy they are. I mean, they got some FAT in them.

anyone lightened up these doors at all? removed some interior stucture, are they still strong? and safe?

You might be able to replace steel for aluminum bracing, etc. That wouldn't be too cheap, though. Lexan windows?

sounds kind pointless unless you were to go fiberglass or something. Plain and simple. Just a waste of your time.

Actually, on my ugly 87 all those years ago when I was a penniless teenager, I cut out the inner frames, did the seat-belt window mechanism trick, and removed all of the wiring. They weighed substantionally less. The car was really bad on the NVH though... (gutted interior, cut out everything, open exhaust, etc)

On my old stang i too crash bars out of the doors and welded in one cross bar, I took out power windows went with Hand crankers.
I did cut out some of the mettle and by time i was done each door was a good 15lbs lighter.  Might not seem like alot but when 2 doors is 30 gut the inside a smuch as u can as well as other places around the car u will get some waight out.

Now if u line up with another car with same power as u but he is a good 300 400lbs heaver then the work shows at the finsh line.
