Title: 351 roller cam?
Post by: Tbird232ci on September 22, 2005, 12:01:44 PM
Bane picked up a 351 out of what im guessing a 96 truck, the timing cover had an F6 part number if i remember correctly, and its indeed a roller block

question is, is there any info on the 351 cam? i know it uses E7TE heads, but is the cam the same as an HO, possible a bit more aggressive since its probably a truck application?

most trucks have s.o. style cams because they need the low end tourque

As per chiltons:

Standard 5.8    Intake:  .2780 * 1.6 = .4448    Exhaust:  .2830 * 1.6 = .4520

Lightning 5.8    Intake:  .2600 * 1.6 = .4160    Exhaust:  .2780 * 1.6 = .4448

FYI it was the 5.0 truck motor that came with the same lobe profiles as the SO cam.

With a F6 casting no it ain't gonna be a Lightning engine, they were discontinued after '95(and all had flat tappet cams, even though the '94-'95 had a roller block). First gens also all used GT40 heads not the E7s of the reg truck engines. Whats the castin # on the block??? The roller 351 engine has a F4xxxxx.
