Title: keyless entry
Post by: 1badcougar on November 14, 2004, 07:01:14 PM
Is there a way to make my factory keyless entry work with a remote like the newer cars do? I have a 87 20th anny. This would be a nice feature if we could do this.

Why not take it a step further and do like the Mark 8 and other newer cars with memory seating.  Have two remotes and when you unlock the car with remote #1, the driver seat and power mirrors move to the memory #1 settings, and when you unlock the car with remote #2, the driver seat and power mirrors move to the memory #2 settings.  This is really nice if you and your spouse, girlfriend, whatever, both drive this car and have two totally different seat and mirror settings.

I'm sure this is possible.

I dunno about the seats, but the locks would be easy. Just buy any aftermarket remote keyless entry system (or an alarm or remote starter with that feature) and connect it to your door locks just as if the factory keyless system isn't there. This would allow you to use the factory keyless or the remote, whichever you wanted. Most remote systems also include a trunk popper, so you will gain that feature as well.
