Title: FOUND: 87-88 Turbo Coupe - Just arrived - Many Parts available!!
Post by: uwwsquirrel on September 10, 2005, 06:06:12 PM
FOUND!!! :rollin:
I just went to the local salvage yard today (Sturtevant Auto (262)835-2300) to look for a seat that I needed for my 88 Cat (which I didn't find by the way) and stumbled on a newly arrived 87-88 Turbo Coupe.  Since I've been looking for a TC hood for a while, the hood was the first thing I grabbed. And To all of you 87-88 Turbo coupe owners- the TC that I got the hood off from is in the salvage yard now INTACT!! In fact I know the guy that used to own that exact car!  He must've blown the motor, cause the car wasn't smashed or anything.  Everything is still there - Front clip (header panel, w/ the outer lenses still intact, Bumper cover w/ fog lamps (not sure if they work though) - Both black in color w/ purple trim -IN GREAT SHAPE!!), most of the motor, T-5 Trans, the dash, gagues, Interior has seen better days though .... If anyone is interested, I may be able to go back to the yard and pull some parts later this week if needed. But you gotta hurry cause these parts probably won't last too long.

Hit Me up if interested. The Salvage yard is located on the frontage Rd. of I-94 In Sturtevant WI.  (In the Southeast corner of WI).

The outer lenses are the only ones in tact but they are a bit foggy. There was an inner lens (Drivers side) that was in good shape that I managed to swipe.  I actually found a few small barely visible crack in it, but overall its a good lens though.

As for the header panel, I think he said $100 for it.  I know that he wanted $150 for the header w/bumper cover cause I was going to get it but ran out of time. :wtf:

The Ebrake cables I'd prolly have to go back and bring a jack w/ me cause the cars sittn on the rotors so i don't know what shape the'yre in.  Check the parts stores like Napa or Checker, I believe they would carry the cables & hardware.  Hell I'll check for you when they're open tomorrow. :deal:

UWWSquirrel,
Hey, I noticed you said you were looking for some seats for your Cougar.  Don't know what color or style you are looking for, but I've got a super nice set of beige plush cloth seats (full set) from an '84 LS Cougar that I need to sell.  I've even got the '84 console to match the front seats in case your car has the driver's side built-on console.  Let me know if you'd be interested.  Later.

Title: Update: TC still at yard - I need a Seat!!
Post by: uwwsquirrel on September 21, 2005, 10:45:38 PM
Hi everyone.  Here's the follow up regarding the TC at Sturtevant Auto.

JeremyB:  From what I could see, It looks like some the E-brake cable hardware got damaged when they lifted it w/ the crane to haul it out to the ford section of the yard. :disappoin  They basically use a fork lift end on the crane to lift the vehicles with and it almost always f's up everything on the undercarriage of the vehicle including the ebrake cable.  I'll keep an eye out though if I come across any more.

Shame302: $100 for the header panel, $150 for header panel w/ bumper cover.  It's all still there.  :D

88Cat: You just missed me that day I went out to the yard, so I didn't get your message till after I got back.  Next trip in though, I'll get the Turbo Coupe door mouldings for you if they're still there and in good shape.  :welder: Oh btw - what is your color preferance for the mouldings?

Fordman3:
Yes I am in the market for a drivers side seat.  However the style that I'm looking for only came out of the 87-88 cougars (and Maybe some T-birds of the same year).  It's the base LS model seats.  Some of them came with the power option (fwd, rev, up, down) tilt and power recline.  To my knowledge, I believe they only came in four different colors: red, grey, tan, and blue - That's what I'm looking for (color does not matter).  They're almost impossible to come by up here.  Most of the ones I did find were power seats, but manual recline. :shoothead  I found one but the back brace was all busted up. :disappoin
Here's a pic from the coolcats website of the style seat I'm looking for.  (sorry about the angle, it's all I could find)
If anyone else has pics of the style seat I'm talking about (or if anyone knows what that style seat is called), please submit them.  Oh and of course, lemme know if you have one you want to sell. :D

could you get the clutch pedal assembly/quadrent/cable from the tc?
I'm now looking to obtain all the parts for my t-5 conversion next summer. I'm right across the lake in Mi. and my zip is 49307. Thanks, and I'm pay extra for the trouble of geting them off if you want. ~Jon~

88Cat: The car is black. The mouldings are black with purple inserts.  Never seen that color combination on a TC before....

tbirdmanjwg:  If it's there next time I go, I'll snag it for you.

Hey uwwsquirrel,
It's Fordman3 again.  Hey, my beige '84 LS seats won't do you any good, but I may be able to help you anyway.  I do have the red seats from an '87 T-bird Sport that had power recline.  All that's missing are the covers, which I sold to ThunderChicken (did I sell the headrests, too? I don't remember).  The frames and pads are in great shape, and the power recline functions still work.  They originally were also both power seats, however I stole the power seat frame from the passenger side to use in my '83 Cougar and replaced it with a manual frame.  I would love to find them a home.  Wish they still had the covers (check with Carmen!).  Let me know if they sound interesting.  Later.

I just checked out coolcats.net and it says in the aod to t-5 conversion that turbo coupes use a hydrolic clutch so they won't work for the v8/t-5 swap... well now im bummed out..and I now you won't have to worry about getting that clutch pedal for me.

tbirdmanjwg: Bummer, well good luck with the conversion anyways.

88cat: Whatever the yard charges is prolly what I'll charge you, maybe just slightly more to cover shipping costs.  They should still be on the car.

I'm probably gonna hit that yard up this coming Wednesday, so if anyone needs the parts LMK.

Also, There is a car show / swap meet in Jefferson county tomorrow.  I have to work till 1 then I'm shooting out there.  If anyone wants me to look for anything LMK.  There will be a separate post about the Swap meet in the wanted section.
