Does Any One Know How To Get The Plastic Side Marker Trim On The Fender Off Without Breaking It. The Peice That's Missing On My Fender.

Hi; Are you talking about the trim around the clear electric side marker or the clear lens itself? This is the one on the drivers side lower front fender right?

Just as a general note I have taken off many glued on trim pieces by heating up the back of the panel and using  a wide flat tool with masking tape on it to "slowly" pull the trim off. The key is heating it enough to loosen the glue but not ruin the paint! It's better though, to do it to panels that you intend to repaint.

Some trim is held with screws and bolts in different ways. They'll be designed to hang on to the trim, or built into the trim, like a molded screw extruded, which fits into a hole and bolted to the body. By hanging on the trim I mean it's basically a clip, attached to the body that's shaped to grasp the trim and hold it in place. Some of those pieces are long runs that you can slide off the underlying "clip run" after removing overlying, overlaying pieces. Some pieces are held by the spring action of the clip. Putting pressure on the trim while removing allows you move it along or off the clip. Some need a special tool to pop them off the underlying clip. Another thing is many wheel wells have insulated plastic inner liners that have to be loosened or removed to get access to the nuts and bolts against the inner side of the  outside fender. Whew, I hope that makes sense  .  If you followed this rambling this far I have to tell you my Cougar doesn't have those marker lights  . Please don't flip me off. I'm trying to help. :hick:
